1. Before the discontinued the shampoos in the balconies and mini-suites, we had the Elemis products in the bathroom.

Personally speaking, 1) They made me itch and 2) I do not like their smell. So glad we bought our own small bottles of "goodies". Use them once and never again, even on other lines. Just my preference and personal opinion. Choice is everyone's to make. Some like the smell.. I don't think it's a flattering smell. Again, JMHO.

    Safe sails.

Thanks! I sail on the 18th and think I am going to bring my own supply based on your feedback.

  2. Perhaps it would be best that everyone be thankful that they are in the position to even enjoy a wonderful vacation whether it is in a suite, balcony, ocean view, or inside cabin. So many cannot and will never be able to have such an opportunity. Try to think about that instead of complaining if you have to wait an extra 5-10 minutes in a restaurant, or if your cruise is not perfect. If that is your only concern, then your life is pretty darn good. :)

  3. I switched from an assigned studio to a GTY BX and paid the $24 difference. My original OBC of $12.50 was changed to the current promotion $50 OBC. It was after final payment so I had to wait on the phone for about 25 minutes until supervisor approved the change. Very pleased with my cabin assignment, and can't wait to board in 3 weeks. Good luck with your upgrade!

  4. I am thrilled to hear all solos are welcomed in the Studio Lounge. I just went from a studio to GTY balcony on the upcoming 10/18 sailing, and have been debating if I made the right decision.

Thanks for sharing this information with other solo travelers. :)

  5. Loved loved the Getaway.....my studio cabin was upgraded to a balcony but I still went to the lounge the first couple of nights looking for mates to join me in the speciality restaurants. Once I went to the MDR with the dancing, and the service was a fail and the good was also pretty bad. The next night a fellow solo and I dined in Le Bistro, which was lovely. Thereafter, everyone dined in the MDR, so I went to the specialities alone....not my preference, but so glad I did because I ate outside and watched the sun go down every night. I suggest you get a a Vibe pass (I'll post a picture) and the premium seating at the Illusarium. And keep checking the price...maybe you'll snag a balcony!

Thanks for the tips and the pictures.:) I would love to be upgraded, but realize since is my first NCL cruise it probably won't happen. That said I am looking forward to this new experience.

  6. Hi! I recently booked my first solo trip on the Getaway sailing Oct 18. So excited!!! I travel solo for business often, but this will be my first solo vacation (my post divorce much needed trip). The reason I selected Getaway was because I they have the studios. Any feedback on the Norwegian studios would be greatly appreciated as well as any additional solo vacation traveling tips you care to share.

    Thanks,

    Jacqueline
