  1. We disembarked in Venice last September and even though the ship docked in the early hours of the morning the Italian officials did not come on board to clear the ship until 7am. We were stood waiting to get off with our luggage as the officials got on.  It didn’t take long until we were allowed to get off but we still had to hurry to get our 7.15am taxi.  Our flight was 11.30am and I would be nervous about booking any earlier flight.

  2. We have just been on the Rhapsody for 2 weeks 7-21 Sept 19 and we thought she was in very good condition considering her age. Our cabin was great, the only thing we noticed was some scratches & dents on the ceiling where it looks as if a panel had been removed/replaced. The public areas were good, there was always someone cleaning something!  The carpet in the jewelry store was replaced one port day, and in Katakolon a whole team of electricians came onboard. They stayed the following week as well and we saw them a few times around the ship, usually up a ladder with heads in the ceiling, trailing wires. We presumed they were fixing lighting.  Overall we loved her, and the cruises (we did B2B). So much so we are hoping to do it all again in 2021 :-)

  3. FYI, I will be posting some pics from that cabin after next week's final Southern Caribbean cruise. My review will probably start May 7th.

Excellent, count me in to follow your review. It will be good to show DH the room as I just went and booked it without him knowing what type of room it is :D Luckily he trusts my judgement.

    Enjoy your cruise

  4. Hi

Can you confirm if Sabor is Mexican or Indian please. There is some talk on the boards about it being converted to Indian just for UK sailings but there is nothing on the RCI website. We sail on her next Friday 1st Sept and have bought a dining package, if Sabor is Indian we will cancel the package.

Hope you have a fabulous cruise :D

  5. Only evidence so far is the fact that RCI have now removed Dubai from the Deployment schedule.

I've just checked the Dubai port schedule and there are no Royal Caribbean ships scheduled for 2018, only Celebrity and Azamara (plus other lines). Disappointing news for us as we were hoping to do Dubai again in 2018 :(

  6. Funny thing, before I was Diamond, I thought the D Lounge was about the free drinks.

What we found is that it's really about the people. We have met so many nice people, and mostly when we sit with others just meeting them, it has the feel as if we've known them for years.

The drinks on the cards are fine, it's just that we'll miss meeting the people. We have made so many new friends.

If they make that change we'll just have to go back to what we used to do until we make D+.

I agree with you 100%, the lounge has given us the opportunity to meet some amazing people and have made some very good friends. We regularly use the DL outside of the Happy Hour and will really miss it if we are forced out. With the limitations on our cruising due to work commitments and costs it will take us another 3 years before we reach Diamond Plus :(

  7. Hi Little Britain

Thanks for the review, we were on the same cruise as you 6 yrs ago, our first Dubai cruise, and shared the Marks Tour in Muscat with you! He was a very good guide :) We will be on the Splendour at the beginning of April for her final cruise up to Venice so its good to hear that she is still in good condition.

    Happy Cruising :)

  8. It took 4 invoices before they got our September 2016 Navigator cruise right. Trying to get the free drinks package, free gratuities, balcony discount and obc all applied to one cruise just seemed too complicated for them to deal with. Eventually it was sorted but had to be done manually and took nearly a month. I will definitely be taking a printed copy with me when we sail!

  9. We got a free Premium Drinks package plus free gratuities on our booking for the Navigator in Sept 2016. We still got our balcony discount and $150 obc which we were really pleased with. It was during a 12 day sale in June so its worth watching out for the deals, you just dont know in advance when they are going to be or whats included.

  10. Reservations are now open!!!

WOOHOO! At last they have opened up the MTD and Giovannis Table reservations. Now I am totally happy, excursions booked, dinner reservations made, and set sail passes printed. Seven weeks today we sail :D:D:D

    See you onboard RustyHull :)

  11. Did you actually manage to book "My Time dining" hours for Adventure of the Seas sailing 12 September?

I phoned and was told they had not released the schedule for it or for the Speciality Restaurant.

Nope, not yet! Even though I have had emails telling me I can book speciality restaurants, the system still wont let me book anything. I've rung RCL again and was told that none of their systems would let them book any dining for this sailing which surprised the person I spoke to as we are so close to sail date. They are going to contact the ship to find out if there is a issue with booking MTD and email me back when they find out anything. I'll keep you posted on any progress!

  12. Help!!!

We are sailing on Adventure of the Seas on 12th September and I can't seem to be able to book the actual times we would like to eat. We managed last year to do this.

Is this general or is it just us????

    Hi

We are on the same sailing and are getting exactly the same message. Its not just the My Time reservations, its all of the dining options, we cant book anything. I did ring RCL a few weeks ago and was told that reservations werent open yet and to keep watching the website. I know I was being fobbed off but at the time it was only just inside the 90 days so gave them the benefit of the doubt. This close to our sailing date I'm convinced its an IT issue. I feel another phone call may be due!

  13. We were on the same cruise and had a completely different experience! We had a 'Hello' and a 'Bye', the waiters danced twice while we were there, once inside and once outside. Our waiter was great, he just kept bringing fries and onion rings until we had to say 'stop, no more'! Also, there was a delay getting our burgers so they automatically waived our charges. The food was good but not great. Overall we had a good experience, sorry that yours wasnt the same.. We went there on the day we were in Olden.

  14. Love this thread, but its raising concerns about what we have let ourselves in for! We had our first ever balcony on the Serenade two weeks ago, its was on the side way up front but we loved it that much that we've become instant balcony snobs :D As soon as we got back we upgraded our cabin on next years cruise on the Adventure and have been lucky enough to book 7388 aft corner balcony. Will this mean we will become instant aft balcony snobs, and will we have to invest in a hammock?

  15. Hi

Many thanks for a great thread, I've enjoyed reading through it and getting lots of info, but not quite what I'm looking for.

We're doing a B2B on Vision of the Seas from Stockholm in a couple of weeks and would like to visit the Hard Rock Cafe. The ship will dock at Frihammen but I'm not sure of the best way to get to the HRC, its located at Sveavagen 75 (sorry if its spelled wrong). Could you recommend the easiest way to get there and back, with approximate costs if possible.

Thanks for any info you can provide

    Pam
