Thanks to FotoPeg, Becki, Bill and others for sharing their experiences. We leave in one month and are very excited! I have seen comments on some of the optional tours but not others. We are going North to South and the following tours are listed in our booklets:

-Cluny

- Pérouges

- Les Baux

- Chateauneuf du pape

- Pont du Gard

Can anyone comment on the Pérouges tour from Lyon? Worthwhile versus more time wandering Lyon?

Hi Peg, We will be following in your footsteps this August for Portraits of Southern France. I understand that you did your own pre-cruise tour of Paris. Just wondering if you bought your train tickets to Chalon sur Saone after you were in Paris or if purchased in the U.S. ahead of time. If the latter, did you purchase from the French Rail Company? Thanks!

Huffy2K, thanks for your posts and keep them coming! DW and I are trying to nail down a date for this cruise in 2014 with Viking. Will probably go N to S though.
