  1. My fiance and I did it! We booked our honeymoon and settled on a B2B cruise:

April 17, 2016: 6 Day Western Caribbean (Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico)

April 23, 2016: 8 Day Eastern Caribbean (St. Maarten; Antigua; St. Thomas; Amber Cove, Dominican Republic)

out of Miami on the Breeze! This is two big firsts for us, first B2B and first cruise out of Miami (most of my cruises have left out of Long Beach). So this time I will be planning flights and transportation and all the works.

I am so excited! Any tips I should know first and foremost? Does anyone know which of the ports are tender ports? My searching has told me Grand Cayman is the only definite. We had FTTF on our last cruise and LOVED It so I am interested if it would be beneficial on these cruises.

Thanks so much! The countdown needs to get a movin!

When we cruise out of Miami we usually fly into Ft Lauderdale. We go southwest so we don't have to pay for luggage. It is only about a 20-30 minute drive to Miami and we get a shuttle for $15pp. Congratulations on your wedding.

  2. We're sailing out of Miami in April and wondering which area we should be staying in? We arrive into FLL at 4:30p, so I'm not expecting to be in Miami before 6:00p. Would it be worth the cost to stay downtown as opposed to the airport? How readily available are taxis at the bigger downtown hotels such as the Intercontinental (appears to have fantastic views of the Port)? In 2013 we flew into MIA and stayed at the Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon which worked out great with an additional cost shuttle to the port. I'd be willing to do it again, however staying downtown and waking up to a view of the Port has that certain allure to it. Thoughts?

We have stayed at the Intercontinental the last two years and there are always taxis out front and available. It is a great hotel.

  3. We are also sailing on the Breeze but not until October 2014. We are flying into/out of Ft. Lauderdale. We did a cruise in 2012 on the Liberty and also flew into/out of Ft. Lauderdale and the Liberty left out of Miami. We were told at that time that LE was not available since we were not flying home from Miami. I hope this has changed and LE will be available for the Breeze by October. I have heard some great things about it.

How do you get from Ft Lauderdale to Miami. We will be on Glory April 27 and are flying in the day before to Ft Lauderdale. We have always flown into Miami but this was cheaper.

  4. I have only been out of Miami so by default it wins. I like that there are so many cruise choices out of Miami that it can't be beat. And honestly from the Midwest it seems that airfare to Miami is as cheap or cheaper than anywhere else (including Fort Lauderdale which is usually only a $10-20 pp difference if that). This cruise we are going out of NOLA and we are driving. So that might become my favorite. I was excited to see the Conquest go (back) to NOLA, because I don't want to do that long of a drive for any less than a 7 day trip and I like the newer(ish) ships so it was the perfect chance to try to road trip it to port. I love a good road trip and driving along the mississippi (well kind of) sounds like an easy drive. I have been as far as Mississippi and thats an easy drive so how bad can it be right. However, we will have our dd who will be 15 months so I may come back with no hair, but we will see.

We drove to NOLA to go on the Conquest in 2005. I can't remember how long it took us to get there but it would have been cheaper to fly. The roads are so bouncy up and down it cause a brake line in our van to snap. At least we were on the way home. We are cruising on Glory next month. I do like both Miami and Ft Lauderdale.
