  1. Ok I will be fair in saying yes it is a ship displeasure vs a NCL issue. Just like I prefer the Oasis to the smaller RCL ships. I have nothing to compare it to. It wasn't "horrible" per se...we had fun...just made our own fun with the crew (which are already on our Facebook we loved them so much). Im glad I only spent $560 on this...a poor lady spent $2000 on a balcony and she hated the epic. Ports were good, food mostly decent, weather was ok. If i do get another freebie on NCL, I guess I would definitely get recommendations based on my likes because the ports don't matter...seen them all...so I enjoy the ship. The casino was good to me the last day though, went up a bit!

  2. Ok, I got the cruise for just port charges and taxes thanks to a casino gift so I went with an open mind. But I won't do it again...not for me. There were some positives but not enough.

Embarkation: with all flight delays, we were there at 3pm amd on the ship by 3:10....luggage (and rum runners) were there shortly after

Food: pay restaurants were GREAT! Cagneys, Moderno, le bistro, la Cucina and Teppanyaki! Would do them again! Dining room service in taste was HORRIBLE! Many people had "forgotten" apps or soups or salad...me included. Forget trying to get water or soda. Buffet was same as every other cruise line, no complaints. We liked the special burgers on the outside deck.

Entertainment: FAIL....we were bored! Blue man group was not fun, Legends was AWESOME though, second city (late show) was ok...dualing pianos were hit or miss depending on crowd. But we had the best time at the waves bar with our fav servers! They were a blast.

Now, we had 5 bar servers at waves bar that were AWESOME (best I've ever had), 1 in the casino (had a house drink card in our room waiting I didn't know about) and our room steward were the only exceptional staff we had. Sorry but I'm being honest about this cruise (just got off today). Motion was HORRIBLE and I never get sick. I love the promenade on Royal ships...I felt too closed in on Epic. The worst taste in my mouth was debarktation. THE WORST on any ship. 45 min to get an elevator down...30 min winding to get off ship... We did have an inside room on deck 12 and it really wasn't bad. I know it's different cruises for different folks and I'm sure lots of you love NCL and that's great. I'm glad I got a "free" cruise to at least give them a shot.

  3. We didn't have a choice. My fiancé works at a private Jewish country club and all the members go to Florida for the winter. So this week is shut down week, all hands on deck. As it looks, if I stayed on my flight today, I would have flown as it's still saying it's on time. But that was a risk I couldn't take, all Saturday am flights are sold out.

I believe if they do miss their flight tomorrow then they would have to fly to the first port.

  4. I am on the same cruise and faced the same problem. I had last flight out of BDL tomorrow and while ours hasn't been cancelled, they let me change to first thing Saturday am. Since the snow is stopping early enough tomorrow I *should* be ok on the first flight out

And that is exactly why I switched yesterday BEFORE cancellations! There were only 2 flights that would put me in on time, and if I did get cancelled, being the last flight, they get to rebook before me (3 flights tomorrow are already cancelled).

  5. Thanks! I didn't think of that!!! I plan on doing my own excursions since I've been to all the islands 3 times before and ESP St Maarten I did a week all inclusive last month. I also wanted to book the Brazillian steakhouse. But if I do buy some OBC ahead of time (might do other pay restaurants) can I cash out what's left?

  6. Ok hoping this darn snow stops so I can catch my flight! Anyway, we got a bunch of visa gift cards for Christmas we want to use for our cruise. But they can't be used onboard. But when I was looking thru ncls site last night, I see you can buy OBC ahead of time? I assume I can use these Visa cards to pay for it? They work like credit cards....first ncl cruise and feel like a cruise newbie. I also have rum runners that worked on RCL...hoping they work on NCL

  7. Thank you for your help! We don't want to bring any more than we have to (the car seat) since we will be driving a mere 5 minutes to the port. Do you happen to remember what the van cost you and do you think 6 adults and 1 child could fit in it or should we just take 2 taxis?

    Thanks again!

If 1 adult sits upfront with the drive, you would be fine. We did 3 kids in the back row, 2A and 1C in the middle row and there was still the seat up front. Its like a chevy astro van, fits 8.

And from the airport to the hotel (on the causeway) was like $13.. from the airport to the cruiseport is around $15, depending on traffic.

  8. megnsamsgracie- Under a month to go for you.. Oh you lucky bum! :D

We can NOT wait.. DH's dad just passed away on the 5th.. so he needs a vacation! It will be nice.. this is the EXACT same cruise we did last year to celebrate our anniversary.. our FIRST cruise! Taking our friends on THEIR first cruise and their 30th wedding anniversary!

Pretty funny.. started cruising last August, then went in Dec with the kids, then again in May and now August again! I am hooked!

  9. We (myself, husband and family members including our 2 year old granddaughter) will be cruising EOS in 3 weeks. We plan to take a taxi to the port. There will be 6 adults plus the 2 year old. First of all: is this physically possible to accomplish in 1 taxi (van type), and will we be required to have a car seat for the 2 year old? Does anyone know what the cab fare will be? Thank you so much for your help! We are very excited!

We had 6 total (2a, 4c) and did fit in the van no problem. There was a seat up next to the driver we didnt use.. dont know if we could have. Also, our son was 4.. didnt bring a booster seat. But they did say he should have had one but we were only going to the hotel (RIGHT by the pier) and then to the pier the next day

  10. Hubby and I are taking our first cruise in just 2 weeks and we did it as a new adventure. But we are taking the kids with us in December and I am planning on 2 cruises a year if we like these! One short one (5n) for hubby and I and one 7n or longer WITH the kids.

My kids are going to miss a total of 7 days of school. Oh well, life is too DARN short to not spend time like this as a family. My daughter had a heart defect at birth that was missed, they found it when she was 2. Now, 6 years later, she is perfectly healthy with NO heart defect. While I was going through that, I realized how in the blink of an eye, my kids could be gone. I have bills to pay and I always will (geesh, 19 more years til my mortgage will be paid off ;) but these are memories I am building with my kids and they are too important to pass by. Same for time with my husband alone. Our marriage is too important to not take time just for US!
