  1. I can provide an answer to the first part of your question. It's an obstructed view because of what lives outside of the ship at that cabin...

    dreamobstructedview.jpg

That thing hanging down on the side of the ship is a trolley used for cleaning the windows. It parks right at cabin 1432 on the port side and 1447 on the starboard.

The same situation holds true for the Conquest Class ships.

Why such cabins would be priced higher I don't have a clue.

  2. Having visited the galley on Carnival ships I've got to say I've always been impressed how quiet they are for the huge amount of work they do... much quieter than about any commercial kitchen I've ever seen.

    I think you'll be fine in E130.

The Fantasy is a great ship... very bright and airy!!!

    :)

  3. Thinking of booking the Magic to the Med in June '11. I know the Magic is the sister ship to the Dream. What is the difference between the cove balcony rooms and a regular balcony room? Is it just the deck the room is on? Thanks.

Yep... the difference is location and the location is BRILLIANT!!! The Coves are on the Main Deck, two passenger decks above water... about 35 feet. The view of the sea is amazing!!!

If that kind of thing isn't so important the Coves may not be for you but I have to tell you that I was WAY impressed by my Cove cabin!!

  4. I use the free photobucket. After you upload photos, run your mouse over the picture and a box will drop down below it, with four possible links. Left click on the 'img' box, and it will briefly say 'copied'. The come to CC to the post you want to add the picture to, right click where you want it, and click 'paste'. The IMG code will will show, and when you click to 'post reply', the picture will be there. EM

Yep... you're exactly right. I use these images to illustrate the process...

  6. It's a portion of Carnival's social networking system and access is free from all Carnival ships. You can use your own laptop or WIFI enabled device or one of the machines in the ship's internet café.

Here's the link that you'll need...

You, and anyone who intends to respond to your thread, needs to register with Funville. There's a link near the top of the page to accomplish that.

  7. There is a significant potential of some impact in NOLA as, of course, all of those flood waters are headed toward the Gulf down the Mississippi. If the water level rises too high the ships won't be able to make it under the bridge...

    No impact for Galveston...

  8. Here's the list I got from Carnival regarding drinks for Casino play...

    Carnival Glory

    Carnival Liberty

    Carnival Pride

    Carnival Conquest

    Carnival Victory

    Carnival Triumph

    Carnival Fantasy

    Carnival Legend

And in May your Carnival Magic.

I'll ask for an updated list...

I just got confirmation from Miami that the list I posted above remains accurate...

    :)

  9. That's interesting because it was suppose to be rolled out fleet wide March 1st. I was on Blogger's 4 on the Glory 2/27 and John had it added to that ship early and that's when I got my card.

Do you post with John on FB or on his Blog? If so would you mind posting your experience and see what he has to say?

Again I thought it was supposed to be fleet wide and when I was on the Glory there was a big poster advertising the program, just as you came into the casino.

  10. Sunrises for me are so SPECIAL!!! I go to the bow... And feeling the wind in my face, I expeience the unwrapping of the morning...

this is just one shot out of many that morning on our way to Jamaica...

    Great photos, Lambie...

    :)

  11. Thanks Mach. Will have to pay attention more and hopefully get a glimpse someday.

It's one of those jaw dropping, eye bugging experiences. On our last cruise on the Ecstasy Stitch and I were standing at the rail on the Verandah Deck forward of the pool area on the Lido Deck. Conditions were PERFECT! I told her it might happen and it did. I looked at her and she was in slack-jawed amazement!!!

    :)

  12. Wow, I've never heard of the green flash either. It sounds amazing though and I can't wait to watch for it next cruise. :)

Remember, the sky can't be the least bit hazy... perfectly clear and no clouds on the horizon...

    :)

  13. I do have to ask what is "the elusive green flash"? I have seen both sunrises and sunsets at sea and from shore and elsewhere (absolutely gorgeous in the mountains), but I am totally clueless as to what this is.

The green flash is a wonderful thing... I've only seen it three times myself. As the sun sets on a perfectly clean flat horizon, like the sea, the last rays of the sun are refracted through the atmosphere... the last rays are green and a split second flash of emerald green appears and then vanishes. It's a miracle... really, a miracle.

    :)

  14. Yes, the sun that rises at sea start blue, then eventually changes color. No, no real difference except watching the sun rise over the water instead of over the land.

We are early risers and often are up to watch the sun rise. In Maine, it come up ongodly early most of the time, so it's nice to watch it rise a little later on the ship.

There's one MAJOR difference between sunrise and sunset... you'll never see the elusive green flash at sunrise...

    :)

  15. Mach...

I am assuming this pic of Conquest is taken from the Galveston port side of her with the sun rising behind her (east).

I notice a shrimper, tug and tanker on the right of photo.

What is that on the left side of photo.

    Looks like a battleship.

We have no naval base and the Coast Guard doesn't have anything that size (that we the American people are aware of, lol)

Just curious as to the date this amazing photo was taken.

Thanks for sharing, we are sunrise people, too.

    mimi

That was shot from SeaWolf Park as she was just turning into the channel. On the left there's a tanker and a channel marker...

    :)
