  1. I brought a copy of the UDP terms and conditions which clearly give a 25% discount at food republic for sailings after July, 2015. It was honored on a $100 bill.

You can google the UDP terms and conditions and both a print out and a screen shot of NCL.com are useful. Food Republic sent me to guest services to get it taken care of.

I know it's not a lot but I viewed it as more money to gamble :)

It was a huge pain to get them to Honor their own terms and conditions for food republic. So much we only ate there once.

  2. For all those who were just on the Sky, did you notice if the drink the Rebellious Fish was being made? We went on the Breakaway this summer and it became my favorite drink of the week! Thanks in advance!

Yes you can get all the drink of the days. They just might not be made with the same brand liquors.

  3. So we can order any mixed drink but just specify which brand of liquor to use? Also, how about their "frou frou" drinks - their own concoctions. Are they available every day or just the drink of the day?

You can order them everyday. Some are made with cheaper liquor then on the rest of the fleet.

  4. Except it says you get the UBP and all drinks under $15 on the T&C's. I'll be onboard on Friday and am sailing with people who know and like their wines, will know more then.

    T & C

Does not include room service, package sales, ship specific promotions or beer buckets, designated Super Premium brands (subject to change),

I guess they are sticking to this even if they didn't last month.

  5. so on the drink menu, when it says $5+ for some of the premium liquors, they are trying to say that the drink would cost more than $15?? I was a little confused as I thought that it might be the original drink price (Example: $9 + the up charge of $5 for the premium liquor) which should be included being the drink would be under $15

Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Since the sky now has UBP for everyone on the ship they have changed the menu so it shows only what you will be charged. So the 4.99 for Jack Daniels is what you will be charged if you order anything with Jack in it. On other ships with UBP they are not stricked on super premium but on the sky now they are stricked about super premium not being included in the beverage package.

  6. Just got off the sky this morning. Captain switched the itinerary so we went to great stirrup cay saturday instead of sunday. The place was pretty sweet, just a solid beach day not much more. Food on the Sky is terrible and my interior room was pretty gross. Drink service was rude but probably because being free they are busy. Overall we had a good time but wouldn't recommend the ship, unless all you care about is drinking I suppose.

we also just got off the ship and I thought the food was mediocre. great stirrup's food was all cold and we got there right when the food opened. the Burgers were cold and pizza was hard as a rock. they do have good soup compared to other ships. I would have to say that this review is pretty accurate. Bartenders were not very friendly when you asked them to make you something that wasn't one of the premixed drinks they have already made.

  7. Im not a wine drinker so I did not ask them about prices.

The painkillers are not longer served with pussers rum because its super premium. Another problem I saw at a few of the bar was premixed drinks and the bartender would argue if you wanted it freshly made even when you are the only one at the bar.

We asked to speak with the F&B director and guess service told us that we could not speak to him and that they would get the bar manager to speak with us. No one ever contacted us for the rest of the cruise about this issue. I knew since I look younger I wouldn't be taken serious so if I go on a 3day cruise its never going to be the sky.

  8. Thanks for the information.

I see Crown Royal, Southern Comfort and Miller lite is included. I'm all set!

I wonder if they will make me a Painkiller?

Painkiller is on The drink of the day menu. I will order one when I get back on the ship and report back tomorrow.

If you have previously been to gsc and liked the menu at patron bar and Bacardi bar they don't have any of them. The patron bar doesn't even serve patron for free.

  9. We got blocked out of everything but bayamo one night for our escape cruise. It really turned me off to Norwegian. The haven concierge said everything was booked up besides bayamo when we wanted to change times one night.

I really wish Ncl would not allow reservations until the morning of. What's the point in free style when you have to stress out over booking meals and book them 90 days out.

  10. Hi. I have booked a 2 bedroom suite in the Haven on the Escape for me, dh and 2 kids. We have had great experiences with NCL in the past and are really looking forward to the trip. From what I understood, the casino was originally non-smoking. But based on recent reviews, we are really concerned about how the smell of smoke travels through the main areas and even into the atrium. Me and my daughter are super sensitive to smoke. Any recent travelers on the ship who could provide feedback would be great! Thanks!

  11. I was wondering about the smoke smell in LeBistro. On NCL Getaway, I thought it was a bad layout with LeBistro facing the Atrium and tables outside in that area too. The Atrium area was often very, very noisy from game, shows, events, people passing by... it reminded me more of dining in a shopping mall food court than in a French outdoor cafe. We liked Cagneys much better and Ocean Blue too with outside seating. Hoping for warm weather and some outdoor dining at the specialty restaurants - Cagneys and Bayamo.

Who ever thought about putting howl at the moon directly across from the fanciest restaurant on the ship should be fired.

  12. Hi,

A question for those who have sailed on the Escape:

Is it very smokey? My husband is asthmatic and on the Getaway he was struggling with wheezing and constantly needing his inhalers. Is there and issue with smoke in the main areas of Escape too?

we did the 12/5/15 cruise and smoke was pretty bad. If you are anywhere near either of the 2 atriums you can smell the smoke from the casino. besides those areas we did not notice smoke. If you guys go to le bistro make sure to get a table deep in. we had a table close to the door and we could smell the smoke the whole dinner.

  13. The bad -

Smoke was horrific on this ship. It might've had to do with a slot tournament that was booked on that particular cruise, I don't really know, but it was BAD!!! It permeated decks 6,7 and 8. Coming down the rear steps it would begin engulfing us as we approached 8, swamp us at 7, and begin letting up at 6. That was at the steps. All three decks were bad. My sis refused to dance in the atrium area until the last night when the smoke finally let up a bit. On the positive side, never had an issue with smoke on our balcony.

We were on the same sailing and felt the same about the smoke. We even smelled the smoke while eating inside le bistro. Having a smoking casino around an atriums has to be one of the worst design plans ever.
