  1. So happy to hear you got this all straightened out. I think most people were just trying to make you understand that Royal did not rob you or mess up your cruise. The fault was always with your TA.

I'm not sure who your new TA is now, but the fact that you were not informed of any of the changes or that they became in charge of your booking would be enough for me to look for another TA.

Good luck, and enjoy your cruise!

  2. I am very sorry if this has already been asked, but it is not showing up on a search...

Where does Uber pick up at the Port of Miami? Would it just be in the regular car pick up area, or is there an area near the shuttles and taxis for car services such as Uber?

    Thank you for any info.

  3. We'll be returning to the Maya Chan for our 5th time! We have never had any issues at all with getting back to the ship. It is a very small place and they keep track of the time for you. They will drop you off right at the entrance to the port shop area. No worries. Have a great time!

  4. Thank you for your comparison.

We find basically the same equation.....On all the lines we have tried, (Carnival, NCL, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity), there are some things better and some not. We now strictly book our cruises based on destination and price. Of course, the only drawback to doing this is we seem to be taking forever to get to those coveted past cruiser high statuses. As God as my witness, one day I WILL have free laundry!!! LOL

  5. Are the smells of smoke and perfume really bad on the Epic outside of the smoking areas/Casino? We are sailing on the Epic in December. I have asthma and was only planning on bringing my inhaler, but if the smell is really bad, I am thinking I need to bring my nebulizer.

I am just reading the threads and seeing the complaints. I was hoping not to have to lug the nebulizer around.

You will always smell smoke outside of the smoking areas. It seems to "stick" in the area. Whether it is extremely bad will depend on the number of smokers on your cruise. As far as perfume smell, no one can answer that question. You will have people onboard that wear perfume, but will you ever pass by them is unknown.

I also have asthma, and bring my medications. If you suffer often, it would be safer to have what you may need with you. I personally, have only brought my inhaler. If I find certain areas to be too much for me, I just avoid them. (I am not a gambler, so I just stay out of the casino.)

Wishing you a happy and healthy cruise.

  6. okay, thanks. I looked at it. Still seems like between the tender ride in, the ferry ride, a ride to find a beach, we will spend 1/2 the day in some sort of transportation with only a couple of hours of beach time.

There is NO tender to get onto Harvest Caye. You just walk down a beautiful pier. There is also a tram if you do not wish to walk. There is a large, nice beach with lots of loungers and umbrellas all for free. There is also a large pool, bars, shops, clean bathrooms, etc. You do have to pay for food and drink. There are also very nice misting stations if you just need to sit and cool off. If you want to take a ferry, you can cross over to actual Belize. If you just want some beach time, Harvest Caye is great. The further you walk down the beach, the fewer people.

  7. Will NCL offer the option of a refund for Eastern Caribbean cruises re-routed to Western Caribbean?

I'm on December 9th NCL Escape and wife has zero interest in Belize after watching Mad Dogs. 😉 And even less interest in the Mexico ports of call.

Just an FYI: NCL's new dock in Belize called Harvest Caye is gorgeous! I've visited Belize several times, and was thrilled when they opened their own area. Belize with NCL is now a good stop. On other lines, you still dock near Belize City. My advice there, is to have an excursion booked in advance.

  8. Hi guys,

We are on an Oceania cruise in September that leaves out of Miami. United only flies direct into FLL from SFO. Is that workable or annoying?

    Thanks so much!

    Kim

We've done it several times with no hassle or problems. There are several shuttle companies that are very reliable and inexpensive.

  9. You may be better served by having a chat with the folks on the Trip Advisor Roatan forum.

The 1st thing that comes to mind is the AI options on the island are more meal plan than proper AI. No animation teams, no unlimited booze. Bananarama may be willing to offer you a food plan of some sort.

There are plenty of restaurants on West Bay Beach, even the those associated with resorts are more than happy to take your money.

As for a place being worth you staying or not.. it completely depends in what you seek in accommodation. Mayan Princess is nothing like Bananarama in that Bananarama offers rooms, Mayan is condos. Mayan has a huge beautiful pool, Bananarama not so much. Bananarama is a party zone with plenty of cruise people and lots of locals on the weekends. If you prefer quiet, Bananarama is not a good choice.

There are heaps of accommodation on the beach, Infinity prolly comes the closest to what Mayan is, they have an IA option, it is condos and they have a pool people seem to love. Grand Roatan is BRAND new. Henry Morgan is the only close to proper AI on the beach, it had been around for ages, they have charter planes coming from Milan. There are other options just off the beach or across the road. Paradise Beach Club is nice, there are random condos about, West Bay Village offers small-ish homes for rent.

Truly it all depends on what you seek in accommodation.

Actually the Mayan Princess does offer a package that includes adult alcohol beverages as well as lunch. Unless they cancelled this offer since last Fall.

  10. I am on the Royal Princess arriving back in Ft Lauderdale at 6:00 am in a few weeks. I have a later flight booked but am considering booking the 8:55 am flight home as well (I will keep the later flight as well as it is refundable...just in case I miss the 8:55 am flight). Do you think we can make the 8:55 am flight?

Normally, I would say as long as you self disembark and there are no issues with customs or traffic, you should make it. (That's a whole lot of "ifs")……But, this is the onset of the busy season in FLL. This could make for longer lines and longer wait times at security. I would personally choose a flight a bit later.

  11. After the first night, I would have spoken to the wait staff and expressed my concern. I'm sure they would be willing to make note that you'd prefer not to wait on the other couple's unusual dining habits. This would at least solve the issue without having to bring it up in front of the other couple. I personally do not feel it would be rude or disrespectful in the least.

  12. I did NOT think that the OP was pretty clear. Since when are you paying more for a bigger buffet, atrium and cantilevered observation platform? If that is true, we should get a discount for a smaller buffet and atrium. JMHO!

Apparently, the week that the OP booked on the Regal happened to be a more expensive week. That happens often if the ship is selling out at a fast pace. I took the comments to mean that she could have done a similar or the same itinerary that week on a different ship for less. I find that it isn't the class of ship that drives the price, but rather the demand of the ship at the time you are booking.

Many people love the Regal/Royal, and many prefer the smaller ships. I'm just tickled that Princess offers both.

  13. We've cruised on both Celebrity and Princess. They are very similar, and I am sure you'll enjoy Celebrity. I will say that although it is extremely subjective, we enjoyed Celebrity's food over Princess'. Celebrity's entertainment in the main theatre was also very good.

You will also be greeted as you board your Celebrity cruise with a nice drink! It was fantastic to have a drink handed to you before you even hit the ship's lobby! Service was fantastic!

The only thing that I personally missed on Celebrity was M.U.T.S.

    Enjoy!

  14. I am the OP and still wondering if this show would interest my grandchildren ages 8-13.

With so many options on the Oasis, I would hate for them to be bored by a show, but wouldn't want them to miss it if the majority opinion is that they would enjoy it.

It's a show that some will love and some will not. The lighting is very dim through the entire show, as the story takes place at night under moonlight. The backdrop remains the same, since the entire story takes place in the junkyard. The music is not always upbeat, but neither is the story. The costumes, dancing, singing, and overall talent is superior to many shows I've seen on cruise ships. I personally, enjoyed it….MY DH struggled to stay awake. You'll either love it, or hate it.

Yes, the audience thins out greatly by the second half. It is a much longer show than most people have experienced on cruises and that may be a factor.

Perhaps, you can look up some clips of the broadway play on Youtube to see if it sparks any interest in your grandchildren? Maybe pull up some of the music online? It's a free show, so there's nothing to lose by booking it. If they don't like it, you can simply leave and find other fun things to do around the ship. It's really hard to say whether you and your grandchildren will enjoy it.
