  1. Just got off the phone with HAL and purchased the Suite Amenities Package, Single, 7-10 days for $279 (there are two of us in our cabin). She did want to sell me the package for two, but I told her no, I didn't want it and no problem, she sold me the package for one.

My question (and she put me on hold and checked) was with the wine and liquor. We enjoy wine but not liquor and I wanted to make sure I could get four bottles of wines instead of the advertised 2 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of liquor. She told me that when the list arrives, you have several different options, just choose what you wish. So I am going to take her at her word. I will report back after our cruise (Jan 27-Feb 6 on Zuiderdam).

We got an upsell to an actual suite so we cancelled this package. So I won't be able to tell you anything about it on my return-sorry.

  2. I called them today, too, and asked the same question about substituting the Liquor for Wine since we don't drink Liquor. She told me no that it was two wine and two liquor. She didn't even try to sell it to me when I told her that we don't drink liquor and it wouldn't work for us. I even told her I was interested in purchasing the double. I guess it's all who you talk to!!!

Please report back and let us know since we don't sail until March. Thanks.

I will definately report back upon our return, but until then, I orginally spoke with someone in excursions and they transfered me to Ship Services.

Maybe try your luck with her. It never hurts to ask.

  4. The one thing I bring on a cruise that I don't take on a "normal" vacation is a steamer wand to get rid of wrinkles in clothes, especially on my dresses and nicer outfits. My steamer was such a hit on our last cruise that the rest of our group (in neighboring staterooms) even asked to use it.

Not sure what ship you where allowed a steamer, but Royal Caribbean and Celebrity won't let you bring one :(

  5. I gave the recommended $$ tips and more PLUS I got "souviners" from our hometown!!!!

Post cards, key chains, a picture of our town from the sky, ect.!!! Our steward came to me an hugged me with tears in his eyes!!! I also added a simple handwritten thank you on a note card and he said he loved it...that no one has ever done that for him and that he loved seeing my home as his was so far away and would be so long untill he went back!!! Now that was a nice feeling....he did so well and so much for us that week and all I did was write thank you and give him a picture!!!!! It still gives me goose bumps thinking of his warm genuine hug!!!

Just a thought that worked for me!!!

You know how you now have to get to the airport HOURS in advance...the best place to buy souvenirs is your local airport and it helps to take-up that wait to get on the plane. We live in Oklahoma so it is somewhere they (all the wonderful help) would travel so it facinates them some of the great things our state has to offer.

  6. I have this list on my computer as an Excel file that has places where you can check off as you go. It is separated as carry-on liquids, carry-on non-liquids, checked luggage with clothes for male and female. As I read these forums, I add to my list. And as I get ready for each trip (not just cruises) I "save as" a file for that particular trip and just update the file by deleting things I don't want to take. Just let me know if you want a copy and THANKS to all for your packing wisdom.

  7. Though I see pictures of the ship on the internet and in the cruise book, I always love the bus ride from the airport or hotel to the cruise port.

My heart pounds, my eyes are scouting from one side of the bus to the other waiting to finally catch that first glimp of that huge vessel waiting to take you away from the business of life! And once I see it, it seems like the most beautiful sight in the world.

My next favorite thing to look forward to is the walk from check-in to my first step on board into the atrium. I still remember all this from my first cruise and it is a memory I never want to forget!
