  1. It is an interesting issue. We were on the Grand in October. Internet wasn't as good as pre covid but very ok. Medallion worked ok. In December we were on Enchanted and I have no issues with anything. All worked fine. In April were were on the Ruby and If it worked on my app, it didn't on my wife's and vice versa. So finding each other was not an option unless you restarted.  And the timeline would only spin in a circle. Internet was only able to download words like in an email. Couldn't load a picture unless you waited several minutes. They did tell us and it would usually help: close the app and re-sign in. It would then do the one thing before it was hit or miss. We did have an unexpected dining time change as the app suddenly changed our time by 30 minutes. The Medallion itself worked fine. Finicky app or not, I was just thrilled to be cruising again!

  2. We were on the April 11 sailing. The aft promenade was open some and closed some. It was closed in port one evening and we didn't know why.

We had dining reservations at 6pm each night. We never had a wait. But when we would exit there long lines. One possible reason could have been the ship was 60 some percent full and they had one dining room closed.

  3. I was one of the people who stood in that line........ we were told by a ship officer the Majestic is too large for 35. So they put the Ruby at 35. 35 is not good for Turn around days. More of a stop for the day terminal. We all survived. Had a great time. Just plan ahead...... there will be several times large ships will use Pier 35 in the coming weeks. See Port of San Francisco cruise ship schedule showing the pier numbers.

  4. We too just got off this morning. Only major issue was boarding. Any other I just chalked up to restart issues. I too saw oodles of happy people. Lots of masks between venues. Many well behaved children. My take is to go with the flow and what happens..happens. At least it was cruising. This was our third since restart and I am happy we can go again.

  5.      What do I not understand about the sound in the Princess Theater? We were on the Grand Princess in late October. We just got off the Enchanted Princess last week.  Both ships theater shows were so loud you cannot make out the words of the singers.

They say they are thrilled to have guests singers with the Princess Singers and dancers. Why? Even on songs we know the words to, you could really only understand a portion of the words. They had a lady song impersonator who probably was excellent but again, only a few words were clear. We did not even go back the second night she was on the schedule or the guest singer was on the schedule.

I think the instrumentalists are wonderful, but maybe we just need shows of their instrumental music and then turn the volume down when there are vocalists. We have seen more people walk out of shows on the last two cruises than ever before. Several told us the volume is just too loud. It is OK in the Atrium and in Princess live. It makes a person wonder if they hire sub quality performers and then drown out the singers to cover up their lack of talent.

Is this the current "thing" in music? I have not noticed this when I go to a show at our local performing arts center. Even though we are Elite cruisers, it is making me consider another line or just plan on skipping shows that we used to enjoy. I'm tired of walking out. And we both have just had hearing tests so I know all is OK that way.

         Thanks!

Thank you starboardcruiser appreciate the information I knew we had to make two separate accounts I just didn't know if we needed two separate mobile numbers. I had planned on printing results after tests were completed because of your same feelings that what if I can't get a proper signal.

The Princess link to Optum site to buy test. $69 for2 and $99 for 3. Is this per person or can my wife and I share like the three test snd have a back up if something was wrong with one.(I've read people have found things missing and we won't have time for that....)

    Thanks

  7. Is it totally dumb to do the Chef's Table if you do not drink? My wife loves to cook and loves the galley tours. Would it be unacceptable to not do the wine tasting???? I do not care about "paying for something I am not using", just do not want to look dumb.

  8. Thank you for your advice, it is really helpful. One more question what is the aft??? LOL, sorry, I really don't know.

Aft means the rear or back end of the ship. If you are on a ship with cabins facing out the back, these are the highly sought after "aft" cabins. On RCCL ships some of these have very large balconies. Especially the corner ones. People feel it is worth having to walk farther to get one of these rooms.

Normally cabin locations are all basically OK. One thing to keep in mind though is should you encounter rough seas..... Think of the pivot points of a ship. The front can go up and down a bit more than the middle. And if you should get any side to side motion, it is less nearer the water line. So a middle cabin on a middle floor can have many pluses. Can be better in big waves, is convenient to go up or down to things.

Look at your ship deck plans and see how close the elevator/stairs are to you. Do they go up to the pool etc easily? And down to dining/ shops/ theater? Should be OK if it meets these tips!

    Enjoy that cruise!
