the thing we still want to do here is visit chateau D’if, of count of Monte Cristo fame! However, of our 3 cruise stops here, we are 3 for 3 on it being shut due to unfavourable weather!

Can you share how you had planned to do this visit? Did you purchase tickets ahead of time? How/when were you notified about the weather cancellation? It is a definite bucket list item for me and I didn't know weather challenges were so common to access the island.

Suggestions on how to do that? They won't talk to me, and our TA isn't as motivated to resolve it as I would have hoped.

Ugh, sorry. I don't use a TA so no experience on making that work. Seems like your TA is the one you have to push (or fire?). Can you insist on a 3-way call with TA and Royal?

I spent well over 2 hours on a series of calls with Royal to reach the result we got. 90% of it was time "on Hold" while they called other departments. It definitely takes time and patience.

Sailing Date: June 9, 2022 (Rome)

    Date you were moved: 10/8/2021

Allure Cabin Category: Connecting ocean-view balcony

Wonder Cabin Category: Non-connecting ocean-view balcony on different decks

Like several others on there, they did not pay attention to linked reservations and connecting rooms. We originally had connecting rooms on deck 11, but the newly assigned rooms were on deck 12 and 7. Our travel agent was able to get us moved to two rooms on the same deck, but they are on the port and starboard sides, nowhere near each other. It’s four of us with two kids (ages 15 and 13) so that’s why we booked connecting rooms in the first place.

Not sure why they wouldn’t have filled these before filling standalone balcony rooms, nor why they are showing as “sold out” on the connecting balcony rooms. Why would you transfer a reservation from a non-connecting room on Allure to a connecting room on Wonder?

Anyway, still waiting for a resolution. We have not been offered a refund as far as I am aware.

Keep pushing for resolution. Our adjacent cabins transferred to different decks were finally put adjacent again - with a *very* fat finger error (decimal place) in our favor.  :classic_biggrin:

  4. 2 adjacent cabins, OV+OVB, Jun 2022 out of Barcelona:

    1. The OV was moved 3 weeks ago, upgraded to a midship OVB. Price adjusted after a few days to what we secured on Allure when we booked in Feb 2021. A very good deal.

    2. The other cabin, originally OVB, was finally moved last night to another OVB. Price has not been adjusted yet, but not too worried it will be in the next few days.

Interesting thing is that the new cabins are not adjacent, let alone on the same deck. One of them is booked with under-21 adults. Curious to see if/when RCI finds the violation of their own policy. Eventually, I'll call to move that cabin anyway, because it is on 14 under the pool deck. I don't want to wait till there are no acceptable options left. We'd even be okay with it going back to an OV on another deck rather than be under the pool deck.

  5. We just did the Northbound itinerary on Radiance with 2 teens. They were sufficiently entertained with rock-climbing, mini-golf, ping-pong, and the arcade. There is a teen center with the usual video game platforms, though ours did not make use of them or the sports court that was popular with others.

Plenty of seniors on the ship as well.

Our Northbound itinerary was a little different than the roundtrip itinerary from Vancouver you mentioned, in that we had an additional stop at Icy Strait Point, where we all loved the ZipRider and the port area. With 1 of our Sea Days including glacier-viewing (Hubbard Glacier), there was only 1 complete Sea Day (aka "Cruising"), and I'm not sure that another Sea Day, as is on the roundtrip Vancouver itinerary, would have been as good for the teens.

Our cruise ended in Seward, from which we took Alaska Railroad to Anchorage, as mentioned in the previous post. Highly worth it, even if just Adventure Class fare on the Railroad.

  6. Keep checking regularly. On our recent Radiance cruise to Alaska, it only showed up for purchase a couple of times. First saw it about 14 weeks out, but it was gone a week later. When it appeared again at the 10-week mark, I grabbed it for $35ea. Never saw it posted again.

This was not a Chops+1. We did not have to pick Chops as one of the 2 restaurants.
