  1. I’ve been hungry on a RC ship one cruise. It seemed I was always looking for food while the Buffett was closed, and then I’d figure out where food was only to find that closed. Yeah it was a pre dinner snack, but we had MTD and knew dining early wasn’t really an option either. Depending on the fellow cruisers we found early MTD can be packed on longer cruises.

  2. We look more at itinerary - islands we like and new places. We then choose best overall deal money, room, offers. Right know we have an RCL (Diamond) Carnival (not sure), 2 NCL (Platinum Plus) and Celebrity (Elite RCCL March). We like to go In the fall and spring for longer trips.

  3. That's just in reference to the MDR. On sea days, one MDR serves brunch from 8:30-1:00. Then both MDR's are open for dinner, as usual. You still have the option to eat lunch at the Lido buffet or from one of the other eateries, like Guy's, 'Ol Fashioned BBQ, etc. Which ones that are available depends on the ship, obviously.

Ok it’s been awhile since I was on a fun ship is breakfast served in the dining room on port days?

And if not is there somewhere to go besides the buffet?

  4. Now see I have read some really weird ones, that people seemed to have a lot of back and forth banter with individuals. I had to quit reading because they had pages and pages of posts about how was the wife, or the kids, or other cruises that had no relation to the one being done. And since I didn't know the posters like they all seemed to know each other, I quit reading and didn't go back to them. The one I recall the most I believe was someone that was going on the Symphony and they had pages and pages of posts that had nothing at all to do with the Symphony. I never even got to any posts about the ship and just had to stop reading it.

I don't have the close personal friendships many on these boards seem to have and so I often get quite confused and with those threads I just get out of them without posting.

I hate that on roll calls from previous trips, or the neighborhood. Or maybe I’m just jelly as I don’t make many long time cruise critic friends[emoji53]

  5. I'm a non swimmer and will be doing this on our 3/20 cruise. From what I've read you have a life vest on the entire time and there is only one small spot where you have to put your head briefly underwater. I'm hesitant but going to go for it! I'll come back and let you know how it was.

I don't remember my head going under water. At one point our guide shuffled all the women to the front. And made me stay close. Because I was having issues adjusting from the sunlight to the cave. I tripped, and I was the first one moved ip.

When we got to the swim section our group had 2 non swimmers. He went to the most scared and helped them and the other one held on to the first. A little floating train pulled by the guide. It was a great tour.

  6. My library has a poor travel section, but I do look at barnes and noble. They are fully stocked. Trip advisor - sometimes feels overwhelming, especally on my phone - Sharing the laptop right now and spring is husband's busy season. Fantasy baseball research.

  7. Looking for something different. We've been on the tour, to 7 mile beach, turtle farm, snorkeling, and the rays. So just looking for something different, can be active, but not much of a laying on the beach. I have 2 stops here in the next year.

  8. We went there once after the tuins with Native Tours. We didn't really kayak, the kids (teens)did and liked it. Calm looking water, with a little current they were out cor over an hour on thier own. It was great, beautiful, peaceful. The lunch and beers were fabulous.

  9. I'm not an accountant, but if your drink is free and the beverage package was free. 0 x?% should = $0.00.

How are the drinks showing up on your bill? Does the receipt show $0 or the price of each drink and then they take it off the bill?

I know it is insignificant, just wondering. Also wondering if the tax is really being remitted to the government. If it is being zeroed out, would they pay tax on $0.00?

  10. My experience is we pay less now than when we first cruised in 2003, because we learned a little about cruising. But recently we noticed the prices going up especially in NY, NJ and Baltimore. Supply and Demand. Lots of people are able to travel off peak season in those ports.

As I think they have reduced the waste on the ships to save corporate money. So we pay about the same or less, and get less 12 years later. Kind of makes sense. I will continue to cruise as long as I feel I can find a deal I'm willing to pay.
