  1. My friend and I are booked in a Central Park balcony leaving Barcelona on 9/9. The website - as you are all aware - isn’t working so great so I had to call today to make the final payment -no big deal.

Our balcony booking comes with free lunch at a specialty restaurant and a free bottle of wine. When I called to pay, I asked if I could reserve a lunch time and location and request a particular kind of wine. After putting me on hold shortly, I was told I would have to do that on board.

I can certainly wait but would like to know if anyone else has done that? Seems like there are lots of Central Park balcony cabins and with only one sea day, specialty restaurants would fill up quickly. And if the wine is delivered to the stateroom- great -I’ll take it. But would like to request a kind of wine that I will drink...

    Comments? Suggestions?

  2. BTW, the one device means only one connected at a time. If you have someone else that wants to access via their device, turn off wifi on yours, have them enter the code for the first time as you did, and they can use the service as well. Just remember to turn off wifi for the device that is done and the one now being used, turn on wifi and you are all set. This helps avoid adding multiple accounts and apps to each others device. Keeps it clean if you will.

Thanks - that's good to know! I also have an iPhone that I'll be using for photos so sounds like I can go back and forth between the 2, so long as I log off one of them!

  3. I've been on lots of cruises but for the first time have signed up for "Voom Surf & Stream - 1 device" on my upcoming Serenade cruise. My "1 device" is going to be my iPad. It has a phone line attached to it. What do I need to "turn off" so I'm not charged for roaming - data roaming and LTE? Or is that included? I don't want to be hit with a big cellular bill when I get home ...

  4. I can recommend the Ibis Barcelona Centro Sagrada Familia. Stayed there for a 2-night pre-cruise stay in September 2016. It is a five-minute walk to Sagrada Familia and also to a metro station, so it's very easy to get around from there. We had a decent dinner at a tapas place within walking distance, suggested by one of the hotel staff. The hotel does an excellent breakfast buffet too. It's a budget chain so obviously you can't be expecting luxury but the price is reasonable (for Barcelona) but the beds were comfortable, the room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

    Hope this helps. :)

Thank you - I'll check it out!

  5. Can't help you with specific hotels, sorry, I live in the city and I have no use for them... but... there's no reason whatsoever for looking for a hotel near this or that. You'll be moving around (or you should!) via public transportation: bus, metro, tramway... mainly because there's no "area with the attractions", these are spread all over the city. It's the best, most efficient way to do so and it's what most Barcelonians do to move about. Public transportation is cheap, clean, safe, convenient and a breeze to use.

Thus, my advice is that you shouldn't limit yourself to a specific area... look for a hotel you like and then make sure it's near a metro station -most anywhere in the city is near a metro station, there are 10 lines- with that you're set for your discovering of the city. Crossing the city say west to east by metro shouldn't take you more than an hour, and going from almost anywhere in a 2-mile radius of the centre (considered to be Plaça de Catalunya, by the Old City) to the centre, half of that.

    Thank you so much!

  6. I'm sure this is covered somewhere on the Boards, but I'm going to ask anyway - is there a reasonably priced hotel near the Sagrada Familia Basilica? Or is that even the part of town where my friend and I should stay for 2 days prior to our cruise in September? We'd like to be near sites, shopping, sidewalk cafes, parks, etc. And we may take a guided tour of the city, which would include hotel pick up. So - opinions please - thank you!

  7. Hello. I'm a RCL cruiser taking at POA cruise around Hawaii on 8/19. Have never cruised Norwegian before but looking forward to it. There are no sea days but there is time at sea and on the ship - so my question is: Is there a "Schooner Bar" type lounge on POA that has trivia or name-that-tune type games? I love winning those keychains! Thanks for your input.
