  1. DH & I  will be flying into Heathrow the day prior to our cruise from Southampton. We are staying the night in an airport hotel and trying to figure out how difficult it is to get back to Heathrow arrivals / baggage claim the next morning to catch the Princess transfer to the port. We have done this in US airports and the shuttle driver has had no issues. But, have not found information on trying to do so at Heathrow, and it seems like it may be more complicated, and there is no airport shuttle. Other option is a car service picking us up the hotel but it is quite a bit more expensive. We are not interested in taking bus / train for this transfer.  Thanks for your help!!

  2. Thanks so much for your review. We sail on the Ruby on December 8th. This is the most information I have seen since the dry dock changes.  We have sailed the Ruby several times and she has been one of my favorite ships! Hoping the trend will continue. The rest of our group for this cruise are first time cruisers and very inexperienced travelers so all the information I can have before we get on the ship will be greatly appreciated by all.  Can you answer a few questions?

In Puerto Vallarta did ship time change to agree with local time or was it off from local time?

You mention having issues with unlocking the cabin doors? Are the door locks the same as they were where you insert the card to unlock the door or have they been changed to the ones where you just hold the card up to the sensor pad to unlock the door?

Can you provide a bit more description on the OM screens? Are they outside every cabin door? What do they display? have they taken the place of the mailboxes?

Is the Ruby now offering on demand movies in the staterooms like the Regal?

Thanks so much for the help!!

  3. We've been to Vancouver before so we booked the Holiday Inn in Richmond. The have a cruise package (search the ihg website and pick special offers) . The package includes that room, breakfast, and a shuttle to the port. They also have a free airport to hotel shuttle.

The cruise package is interesting to me. But, when I go onto IHG, I can see several Holiday Inn properties in the Richmond area. Can someone please tell me specifically which one offers this package? Thanks so much!!

  4. We will be sailing out of NYC on the Regal Princess in September. The ship sails from Brooklyn but we will be arriving a couple of days prior to sight see so will probably get a hotel in Manhattan. Is it better to fly into JFK or EWR, taking into consideration cost of car service both ways (including tolls) and travel time. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Thanks for the report. What time were you off the ship? We have a car service scheduled for 9:30 am pick up and I am wondering if that will be too early. We will be traveling with my elderly in-laws so will not be able to do walk off with our own luggage.

Also did you see if they were allowing embarking passengers to enter the building or were they waiting in line outside the building, again a concern with my in-laws.

  6. I am hoping someone can help with recommendations for an island tour in Maui for seniors. They will be arriving on the Golden Princess in Lahaina and will be in port from 7 am to 5 pm. They have been to Lahaina before and would like to venture out a bit more this time. They would be interested in a tour that has little walking and little to no beach time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  7. We used Akamai Tours in Hilo and they were AMAZING!! Tyler and Hayley were so responsive to everything we wanted and gave us a 100% customized tour. Tyler was so knowledgeable about everything on Hilo and the Park and such a delight to tour with. Would recommend them without hesitation for any kind of tour from sightseeing to something much more adventurous.

  8. What other options would you recommend on these islands for seniors who would not be interested in water excursions. They have somewhat limited mobility when it comes to walking long distances but do quite well otherwise. They would love private tour operators who offer island tours etc.

  9. Does anyone have a copy of the masculine / feminine and inventor brain waves quizzes that you would would be willing to share? I would love to have these available for my family over the thanksgiving weekend but missed these two on our last cruise. Thanks in advance!

  10. Dave, We are currently trying to decided between the Golden and Sapphire for our Feb. Hawaii cruise. With the news that you will be on the Sapphire we are now leaning that way. Will the Sapphire now have similare Hawaii themed enrichment, activities, dining similar to the Golden for the Hawaii sailings? That may be an important part of our decision. Also do you have any thoughts regarding sailing the Sapphire on the first cruise after her dry dock? Thanks so much.
