Thank you everyone!  I did not realize the MDR is open on the last day.  I guess we normally just hit the Windjammer so that we can be out of there quick.  It sounds like both Windjammer and the MDR is open at 6:00 a.m.  There are 10 of us and I'm trying to book transportation to the airport.  This will help figure out what time we can book the transportation.

Does anyone know if Royal does a shuttle from Cape Liberty port in New Jersey to LaGuardia airport?

Can you tell me what you think might be the earliest possible time that you might book a flight after disembarkation. I feel like in the past we were out of the cruise terminal by 9:30-10am. There is a 1:20p possible return flight with the next one being 7:10p. We, too, have to book transportation to the airport, but for us it's Port Canaveral.

  2. we have just booked our fourth Windstar cruise on the Star Breeze from Puerto Caldera to Colon, with a few days in San Jose and Panama either side.

Can anyone help with the following:

    Hotel recommendations for either city?

    Things to do while there?

Should we book hotels through Windstar or independently?

    Ditto transfers?

What excursions do people recommend at each port?

I think the beach barbecue is on Isla Parida. Which night is the deck barbecue?

    Many thanks for any advice!

We were on the Star Breeze in January 2018 with the opposite itinerary. We arrived in order to have one full day in Panama City before boarding our cruise in Colon. We made arrangements to go on the Ocean to Ocean Panama Canal and Jungle Tour. We agreed that we were thrilled that we chose that tour-incredible experience. It is 9 hours but you are picked up and dropped off at your hotel and lunch, water and snacks were provided. I found it on Tripadvisor but it linked to a Viator tour. I read many reviews and this tour gave us a comprehensive overview of many aspects of the diverse area. It was overall a fabulous trip!

  3. A search would find threads on the topic.

The common discussion is that as you lose time sailing from the Pacific to the Caribbean, many people prefer to go from the East Coast to the West Coast. We have done that 3 times. We will be trying sailing from San Francisco to Ft Lauderdale this coming October.

Since you have done the Panama Canal 3 times, have you tried different times of the year or do you stick with a certain times, e.g. spring versus fall?

    Thank you in advance
