  1. This is awful. I hope you have a speedy recovery. Just wondering why it is important to you that Royal checks to see how you are? Perhaps they have called and you just don't know it. I think I would be more worried about a million other things. I do hope you get better soon. Six weeks is a long time to be away from home. Very best wishes to you.

I guess it’s important because they told us that their Miami Care team will be in touch shortly to assist us. This is also in the letter they give you. Same for the port Agent.

I think myself or husband would be aware if they tried to call. Eg missed calls on our phones, maybe an email etc

  2. To the OP - were you involved in the discussion of what they could do to get you to a hospital? Did you ask any questions? Give any suggestions? Did you stay in the medical area of the ship until you were debarked?

All these answers might help us to understand a little more.

I asked to be air lifted off the ship. I was screaming in pain.

I was transferred from the medical centre to my cabin as the beds in the medical centre were way to uncomfortable.

All they were interested was my insurance which my husband provided policy shedule everything with 15 mins of me being taken there.

  3. What caused you to fall? I am an injury lawyer and yes I have sued Royal as well as all the other lines.

I ask not to solicit, but because some lines advise their customer service not to call an injured customer because it can be taken as admission of guilt.

You file is given to RC's adjusters (they are self insured) to then call you but it takes time.

All I can say is if it was RC's fault. Then don't talk to anyone but the lawyer you hire.

Perhaps you could help me why so it say in the letter I received a Miami care team will be in touch with you shortly. Does this then mean a few weeks/ months down the line. If it does then I’ve completely misunderstand.

I slipped on the Shuffle board court whilst walking over it.

  4. I am sorry this happened to you, but not sure what you wanted, did you want them to turn around? Did you get evaluated by the doctors onboard? Did they give any information as to why they did not deem it enough of an emergency to turn the boat around?

No I didn’t want them to turn around but to seek medical attention as quick as possible. This could have been done via helicopter or Boat. But time was of the essence as I’ve sadly found out. But this really isn’t the question I asked.

  5. I’m so sorry this happened. I presume you are British and are therefore not being charged for your stay in Germany? If your insurance company was looking at paying for that 6 week stay, they’d be looking at ways to get you home quicker and back to NHS (free) care. Can you not be transported in a wheelchair?

Hi yes I am British and have the European Health Insurance Card. My insurance have been brilliant but I’m not stable enough of today to be air ambulanced for rehab to the U.K.

Thank goodness I took and always will travel insurance. What a nightmare if people don’t.

My reason for posting on here was to see what other people’s experiences were. I just feel I’ve been dumped in a country with no support. I’ve listened to so much music as very few people speak any English. But silver lining my German is growing by a few words.

  6. Just a general remark. You´ve been already cruising for four hours. Obviously you´ve been in a stable condition which did not require an immediate medical evacuation. That´s why they continued to Hamburg. They only return to the previous port when they are still close and for life threatening conditions. A medical evac via helicopter is the other option but an extremely expensive one. So they won´t do it unless the situation is critical. The third option would be an evac via a pilot boat but therefore you have to be close to the port too.

I wish you all the best and hope you don´t need to stay for another 6 weeks but can return back home!!

    steamboats

Sorry I think you might have miss understood. We boarded in Southampton. We had been sailing four hours which sounds a lot but 2 hours of this was restricted speed because of the estuary. We were still just off the coast of England when I fell. Paying for the medical evac was never an issue. My hip was time sensitive and as it turns out the time lost has caused the fracture to get worse.

We never did see any official from the port agent

  7. im just wondering if what had happened to me is typical of procedure.

I fell on the Navigator of the Seas and broke my hip just four hours after setting sail from Southampton. For some unknown reason we continued to our first port of call Hamburg two days away.

I was offloaded into an ambulance to go to the hospital. Nearly a week later I have heard nothing from nobody.

I had hip surgery and will be unable to walk with much weight on it for the next 12 weeks. There is talk of having to stay in Germany for the next 6 weeks!! This is under discussion with the doctor and my insurance company.

I’m presently awaiting treatment for the knee that was injured as well.

Is it normal that no one contacts you to see how you are once you leave the ship.

  8. I am on the Harmony now. We have been told we MAY not make it back to Fort Lauderdale for Saturday. Luckily I'm on a Facebook page for the sailing of the 9th otherwise I wouldn't know any of this. We are b2b so it doesn't impact on us too much accept we will only be going to Cozumel now.

The Captain is going to make an announcement at Noon. Also I guess there is no guarantee of actually getting back to port on Tuesday. It all depends on the Hurricane

  9. They don't get a lot, especially if they are young. What use is the arcade to a three year old. Or movie rental?

I just wished that they would revamp the kids part of the Crown and Anchor.

Even if they are Diamond in their own right they don't even get a free drink or a free photo unlike their adult counterparts.

  10. Have you thought about adding ice to the milk in the bottle. This will keep it colder for a lot longer. Plus it turns to water making the milk last longer. We did this on our last cruise when my Grand daughter was 9 months old. It worked a treat.

I would definitely take a stroller way to hot to carry a child. In the UK we attached sun parasols to the strollers. This allows the child to have some shade whilst sitting and napping. I thought these were used all over the world until we were constantly asked by others where we bought it from because it's a fab idea.

Take plenty of baby wipes, spoons, cup.

    Containers to put snacks in.

If she still has Diapers - Diaper sacks to dispose of the Diapers.

Saline spray for their noses. The a/c plays havoc and the spray helps them breathe easier.

    Stop stressing and enjoy

  11. why are move over offers not offered to uk residents as the july 10th sailing is from Southampton surely it would inconvenience people less to move if they were based in the uk and princess wouldn't have to offer so much as generally flights would not be involved.

My thoughts as well. We are 90 miles from Southampton and could easily change from the 10th July. But we have not been offered it.

  12. We're going to be in Beijing in April and also want to have Peking Duck while there so after I saw your post I emailed our guide that we have booked for our duration inquiring as to the cost.

    Her reply was:

It's no problem to recommend a good Peking Duck restaurant for you. There is a very professional Peking Duck restaurant near by your hotel Hilton (Beijing Wangfujing) for the local people. The cost is around 50 USD for two of you. Which is including duck, one more other dish and drinks.

If you want to go to the most expensive Peking Duck restaurant, the cost is around 90 USD or more for two of you.

Well we now know where we are going then!!!

  13. We're sailing on the Millennium in April there will be 8 of us and we have already booked our tour of the Great Wall, could anyone tell me what is best to wear for this tour as we're not sure of what to expect weather wise? Also staying in Hong Kong on first night any thoughts on tours? We all usually cruise with Thompsons as they fit our budget but this is a special cruise for us all this year we're celebrating a 40th & 25th wedding anniversary and 2 x 60th birthdays. My husband and myself have sailed on Celebrity Equinox to celebrate our 40th anniversary and his 60th birthday and love the Celebrity ships.

Come over to the roll call

  14. As I am in Australia when I search RC it goes to their Australian site which shows this. Stating 21 but seems the international site shows 18.....strange.

Guess we'll have a fight on our hands will have to wait for their office to open and make a call. Thanks all :)

Q:* What is Royal Caribbean International's Age Policy?

A:* No Guest younger than age twenty-one (21) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult of twenty-one (21) years old or older. A guest's age is established upon the first date of sailing.

This age limit will be waived for children sailing with their parents or guardans in

connecting staterooms; for underage married couples; and for active duty members of the United States or Canadian military.

Certain other restrictions and conditions will apply; such as compliance with the age twenty-one (21) alcohol policy, and proof of marriage for underage couples or proof of active duty military status (required).

This info is out of date. I only found out because my neice who lives in Sydney booked a cruise she is 19!!! I asked her to make sure they ad changed it and they definitely have

  15. Don't panic

Now 18 year olds can book their own cabin without any one over the age of 21!!!

    Being on the ship.

This applies to Europe, Australia and New Zealand and I think South America. The only place you have to be 21 is North America and Canada.

I believe this changed last year.so I thought I would check it out on Royals site

Q: What is Royal Caribbean International's Age Policy?

A: Royal Caribbean International's minimum age to sail unaccompanied on sailings originating in North America is twenty-one (21). The minimum age to sail unaccompanied on sailings from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand is eighteen (18).

The Company retains the right, on rare occasions, to raise the minimum age to sail unaccompanied on any sailing when local laws require or permit such a modification.

For voyages originating in North America:

No Guest younger than the age twenty-one (21) will be assigned to a stateroom unless accompanied in the same stateroom by an adult twenty-one (21) years old or older. A guest's age is established upon the first date of sailing.

This age limit will be waived for children sailing with their parents or guardians in connecting staterooms; for underage married couples; and for active duty members of the United States or Canadian military.

Certain other restrictions and conditions will apply; such as compliance with the age twenty-one (21) alcohol policy, and proof of marriage for underage couples or proof of active duty military status required.
