  1. Hope you are up and around soon!

My parents had 2 vacation cancellation claims that at had Allianz for travel insurance, one was a RCCL cruise and another was a timeshare week booked with Interval International.  One claim she had started but never finished submitting the proof; I found it in her paperwork after she passed away.  I sent in the medical records why she couldn't travel during that time and also a copy of her death certificate... no issues at all and they paid it right away.   Same with the non-refundable timeshare getaway week that was still months away.  I definitely recommend Allianz.

She had booked JetBlue separately for one of the vacations, when I called they wanted to give a credit to their travel bank.  While the customer service rep was working on it, she could hear my mom in the background giving me instructions from her hospital bed on what bills needed to be paid and basically passing all of the financials on to me.  She said "it sounds like you really have a lot going on" and refunded their credit card.   I was so appreciative that they refunded them ❤️

  2. Thank you!  He should have been 340+ on his last 2 cruises, I found out they were giving him the wrong points for being a solo cruiser.  It was the battle of the century with the "loyalty" department for them to make good since paid 200% and not 150% cruise fare.  He finally settled for a credit, but it was not as much as they had overcharged him.  First they were going to do NOTHING other than give him the correct points.  I think it was about a month to resolve, each call easily lasted over 30 minutes.

The first night done right is finished now.

D+ BOGO for first and second night is available for your dad and mam.

At 340 points they should qualify for a meal with officer too.

A free Bridge tour or galley tour is offered to D+ too on board.

This is his first cruise over 340....  sorry to be a pain asking a lot of questions

The dining with an officer, is that in the MDR or at a specialty restaurant?  Does he book when on-board or should he be calling now?  Also, can he bring a guest to dinner and bridge/galley tour?  My mom passed away so he is the only one in our family that is D+ 340+.

Your dad as D+ should have a selection of free drinks in his cabin like this.

Thank you!  He is now over 340 points, so gets a bonus amenity.  I had him call it in this week since we want 2 bottles of wine.

One more question... it has been 3 years since we were on the Allure.  Last time they ran a deal if you had My Time Dining, the signature restaurants were 1/2 off the first night.  Are they still running first night promos?  Unfortunately my mom followed Cruise Critic everyday and I just haven't kept up with the perks and changes.

  5. Thanks BrilloHead for the advice.  The first cruise after 340... I am not sure what date it was "rebooked", it was booked ages ago when the Symphony first started booking by my mom, then changed to just my dad to a balcony room (was most likely a JS or GS).  The last cruise would have definitely qualified, it was booked last minute with some relatives and he tagged along.  The next cruise he is booked on we actually put my daughter on his reservation instead of putting her as a 3rd in our room so that isn't an issue.  He does have another solo in Feb that was just booked a month ago with the same "last minute" group from this year- checking that is next on my to-do list.

  6. Trust me, we know there is no way they are going to refund the difference and we not expecting it.  I was shocked that they didn't even say "sorry", just got bounced back to C & A who we first dealt with.  They can see he has more cruises booked, they didn't even look to see if the one that he is traveling solo is billed correctly so we still need to deal with that also.

My parents loved cruising.  When my mom passed my dad read a speech called "I just carried the luggage" and told how she was always booking cruises and Disney World for them and their friends, and all that he needed to do was show up and carry the luggage.  I am just annoyed that they have never had an issue once and this could be handled better.  It took them an entire week just to call me back.  Also, I want to make sure going forward the points are applied correctly, there was no rhyme or reason to some missing and some being correct.  I finally have him doing online check in, but that is about it for going online- LOL

  7. My dad is D+ and has continued cruising since my mom passed away as a solo cruiser.  On some of his solo cruises RCCL has not been applying his points correctly.  Last week we called and got it fixed, which meant he should have hit 340 points three cruises ago and not his last cruise.   If the points had been applied correctly he should have paid 150% and not 200% cruise fare on his last two cruises.    I am not D or D+ and didn't know about this 340 point D+ benefit; last weekend I came on here to ask about internet discounts for D+ and while researching my dad's benefits discovered the missing points and that pricing should have changed at 340.  My dad it not tech savvy so doesn't go on the RCCL website and also didn't know.

Yesterday they RCCL called and said they fixed the points, but they are doing nothing else for him.  I am looking for any advice on who we can call.  Crown and Anchor bounced us to Customer Service, now Customer Service is telling us it is a Crown and Anchor issue.

I just want to say we are not looking for the world, I just think someone higher up needs to know how a loyal customer is being treated.

  8. We are cruising on the Allure with my dad who is Diamond Plus (two cabins- me & hubby, Dad and my 14 year old); I am doing all the planning that my mom always used to do.

Last I read, D+ now gets 2 days of free internet.  If my dad books a VOOM package, are there any coupons loaded on the SeaPass card?  Is it just cheaper to book now online or is there ever a better sale online?  The current deal if I book now is VOOM Surf for 4 devices @ $44.17 (15% off onboard prices) a day or 2 @ $26.98 (10% off onboard prices).

    Thank you!

  9. I am asking this question for my dad.  He and my mom were Diamond Plus and always traveled in suites, now since my mom has passed away my dad is staying in ocean view balcony rooms since it is plenty of room for him.

He pays for two fares as a single traveler (this isn't the issue).  Why isn't he getting points for both fares?

Nothing that he is upset over, but we were just looking at his RCCL account and wondering why......

  10. Question...

Me, DH and daughter (will be 14) are looking to cruise with my dad next year since my mom has passed away and they went on 3 RCCL cruises a year.

I want to put myself on my dad's reservation since he has to pay for 2 people, but want to sleep in the adjoining room with my husband and daughter. Is this allowed or will there be issues? Also, will they allow a reservation for 2 people (under husband and daughter's name) to book a ocean view balcony that has a pullout couch or are those rooms only for reservations with 3+ people?

  11. I have done the Waverunner at Labadee and Salsa, Salsa Margarita in Cozumel. If I remember correctly as this was in 2013, The waverunner was $95- Driver and Salsa, Salsa Margarita was $98 per person.

Thanks- maybe there are issues with some of the prices going back to full price this morning. The other two I booked are definitely showing up different today, wave runner-passenger and water slide (which I almost booked) are also showing up more this morning.

  12. I bought excursions this weekend that were 20% off for my sailing. All of them were marked with the "20% off" red banner on the picture.

This morning the sale is over and I looked, 2 are now showing at a higher price (kayaking in Jamaica and the water mat rental in Labadee), two are showing the same price as the sale this weekend. I paid $80 for Salsa and Salsa (Cozumel) and $80 for wave runner driver in Labadee. Does anyone know if this is the normal full price?

  13. I found an email for the tour company, they already replied and will give permission to RCCL to book her.

I would like to book through RCCL since it is significant price difference with the sale. First I thought it was the same, but turns out there are 2 versions of the trip (one kayak only, other with lunch and beach). If worse comes to worse I will book with an independent without the lunch. Thanks everyone for your replies!

  14. I tried booking the Rios Kayaking excursion yesterday for my family and there is a child price, but minimum age is 12. My daughter is 11 so it won't let me book it. She is 5' 1" and has kayaked for 3 summers (double and alone). If they would allow her, I feel 100% confident she is experienced enough and can keep up with teens and adults. The excursion is in calm water.

I called RC yesterday and they had me email the excursion department. I am just curious if anyone has ever had any luck in getting a waiver for the minimum age, or should I just have her pick out something else since the 20% off sale ends this evening. Thanks.

Here is the description: Get ready for a paddling adventure unlike any other, as you explore Jamaica’s stunning Rois Lagoon via kayak only 10 minutes away from the pier. After a quick safety briefing and orientation you’ll hop in kayaks alongside a friendly and highly skilled guide and then spend 1.5 hours on the calm waters off the island’s coast. As you glide past mangrove wetlands you’ll hear the natural history of the area, which is home to abundant wildlife and a natural bird sanctuary. Keep your eye out for numerous species of aquatic birds, swimming schools of fish, crabs and flying fish. Then you will be taken to a beach known for its silky white sand, clear turquoise waters and rustic club house amenities.

  15. If any of it is refundable, you can cash it out at Customer Service on your last day at sea. Three weeks ago, I had almost $200 refundable OBC left and I turned it in the last afternoon at sea for cash. No problem but it must be refundable.

Was it OBC from Visa rewards or a travel agent? I was told you can cash out Visa OBC but can't do it from a TA.
