  1. Closed-toe shoes were required for a Chef's Table dinner on Princess because a galley tour was included. I had to buy a pair of water shoes on board as they were the only closed-toed ones available. Looked kinda funny with my little black dress!

  2. We signed up for the late-night comedy shows for Oasis next week. Our cruise planner now says one show is at 11:59pm-12:00am (1 minute, so that's definitely an error) and the other show says 12:00am-12:59am. When I first signed up, I thought the shows were at 10:30pm. Does anyone know the actual times?

  3. I asked on the Diamond/D+ Chats board, but not many people participate there so I am posing here, too.

We'll be Diamond Plus on our upcoming September 30 cruise, and I've seen mentions of D+ luggage tags on these boards. I just did an online check-in and although our cabin number is correct on the Set Sail Pass, the "print this" luggage tag has the wrong cabin on it. (We had switched cabins when one we particularly wanted became available.)

I was not going to stir the pot by requesting a corrected luggage tag -- things that can go wrong often do when dealing with RCCL customer service. I was just going to get tags from the porter before boarding.

BUT if there are some kind of D+ tags, perhaps I can get some from C&A. Any advice?

  4. I purchased the Internet package online two days ago for $15.99 per day. Today, I cancelled that purchase and bought the same package at $13.49 per day. I don't know how long this special will be on -- but I'll keep checking in case the $10.99 per day (that someone on this board mentioned) pops up!

  5. After many searches on this forum and two phone calls with different answers to the C&A desk, I still am not sure of the best way to purchase an Internet Surf & Stream package. The most confident-sounding answer was to buy the 2-device week package pre-cruise with a 20% discount and once onboard go to Guest Services to get a $39.98 Diamond Plus refund. The C&A rep said my D+ husband can also get a refund -- on the same package! Sounds too generous to be true. Does anyone who has sailed recently as D+ and bought an Internet package have a real answer from personal experience for me? Thanks.

  6. To whoever was told there is no problem on Independence: I am aboard now. Much more than standard cleaning is going on. There are no “sales” in the promenade, because they don’t want people touching merchandise and putting it back in the bin. The entertainment staff is pitching in and serving food at the buffet. Plastic gloves are being worn by waiters, bartenders, etc. Today is a sea day and first sunny day yet many loungers are available and I suspect that is because many people are in their cabins. I’ve also seen repeated wiping down of railings and even the dining room chairs as people leave them. This certainly is not standard operating procedures.

  7. I saw a couple of dozen people outside of medical bay around noon. I’m fine, so far, but I’m rather fanatic about hygiene when on ships. Never touch railings on stairs. Use germ wipe cloths after handling menus. Never pass a “washy, washy” without using it. I really feel sorry for those afflicted. Staff is being very meticulous in effort to avoid spreading the virus. Saw them wiping menus with disinfectant before handing them out and also going down the hallway wiping door handles!

  8. Matt, I always enjoy your reviews and find them positive and even-handed. I'm sorry this particular trip did not go well, but I love your "didn't spoil the cruise" attitude. I'm going on Indy for 5 days in a couple of weeks. That trip will bring me to Diamond Plus, which I will enjoy on a Brilliance British Isles cruise in June . You wrote, "Now, with my D+ discount, four days of surf and stream is about $32." What is the Diamond Plus discount? I've seen conflicting posts. There's a 30% discount on Internet Cyber Monday sale now, and I'd like to figure out which is better. Thanks. Carol

  9. Thank you everyone for your quick replies. I read the other active thread and found it very helpful, but I guess I missed something. I knew I could send items out for pressing, but I like to send clothes out to be cleaned mid-cruise so they can be worn again. My experience on other cruise lines was that they washed and folded - but did not iron - the laundry you put in the "special" bag. That's why I started a specific question thread. Now I know can pack less of his clothes... and more of mine!

  10. Great, informative trip report. Thanks! I saw the photo you took of the back of the TV - any chance you remember what brand of TV it was? I've found that an additional remote control is sometimes needed to change the input.

  11. We are going on Divina in October, our first MSC cruise. I applied for and received black card matching status based on my diamond RCCL membership. My husband, however, had jumped the gun and got matching status a while back before he was a diamond member so he received gold status. He has not cruised MSC before. Since he now has diamond status on RCCL and elite on Celebrity, does anyone know if he can upgrade his matching status to a black card now, or is it a one time thing?

  12. Thanks, Pete. I looked at the posts you suggested and they, like many other posts, appear to be speculative at this point. I guess we'll wait a while to see if MSC releases more cabin information as the Seaside gets closer to completion. We have an upcoming cruise in a YC1 Divina cabin and if Yacht Club is as nice as many have reported, we may want to do that again and my Aurea Grand Suite confusion may not matter!

  13. Bret, Pete - You gave me great advice choosing our YC cabin on Divina. Now we're booking Seaside for 2018. Does anyone have information on Seaside Althea Grand Suite cabins? We're trying to decide between 11003, 11002 and 9001. Thanks!
