  1. We finished our cruise on the Elation, and we did not take the walkie talkies as planned. I checked with my cell phone carrier, and we found out we could text each other for 50 cents per text sent. We ended up staying together for much of the trip so it really wasn't an issue. Received texts were at no charge. Also the Elation offered a great data package that was available if we needed it.

  2. We are back from our cruise on the Elation, and I could not have been happier with our room. Because of the partially obstructed view, we got the room at a discounted rate. It was just between the smaller boat and a lifeboat, so it was obstructed. However, it was easy to see between the boats, and we still enjoyed the "extra" space. I am trying to upload some photos now.

  3. Thank you for your response. That is helpful. I think we will take the walkie talkies just for peace of mind. I like the option of putting those on vibrate. Even if we don't use those, it will be an option for keeping up with where everyone is on the ship.

  4. I clicked on this thread, because my 13 year old will be going with us on our next cruise. I was thinking of a way for him to be able to communicate with us, and figure out where we were if he was at Camp Carnival, for example, and wanted to find us. We were thinking of taking walkie talkies, but if they don't work unless you are on the same deck, they would be useless. If he isn't in Camp Carnival, he will be with one of us. I just wanted for him to have a way to reach us, if he decided he did not want to stay there.

  5. I bought this LV bag in Paris a few years ago. I rarely use it. I wanted everyone to have a chance to get it. Please DO NOT email me. Please post it here, in a day or two I will write all your user name on a piece of a paper and draw it.

I don't know if you have given this away yet, but it is beautiful!! I would love to be included in the drawing.

  6. Thank you for the photos. It does give me a better idea of where we will be situated. We cruised on the Conquest and had a regular balcony room then, so I know what you mean about the general size of the rooms being smaller than the standard hotel room. Still excited and looking forward to the trip. :)

  7. 2:20 p.m. -- Update: A spokesman for Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that Tropical Storm Olga has prompted an itinerary change for Carnival Conquest. Conquest will forego its scheduled stop at Grand Cayman on Thursday, instead calling on Cozumel a day early. On Friday, when the ship was orginally slated to call on Cozumel, Conquest will visit Progreso. The ship's time in each port has also been revised and is as follows: Thursday in Cozumel (7 a.m.-5 p.m.), Friday in Progreso (9 a.m.-5 p.m.).

That is a bit of bad luck. I really feel bad for all the changes they have had to go through.

  8. Just an update on cabin 8324 on the Conquest. We had a great view of the ports for each day, so sitting out on the balcony as we sailed away was great! It is under the Lido deck, so it can get very noisy. The sound of scraping chairs was heard almost all hours, so if you are a light sleeper then this could be a problem. However, I can sleep through pretty much anything, so it wasn't a problem for me. The room was bigger than I thought it would be, and our steward, while not the friendliest of persons, was efficient. I also LOVED being able to just go up one deck to the Lido to get food, drinks, etc. It does face the west, so it can get a little warm in the afternoon, if the curtains are not closed.
