  1. Since the new dining changes have been in effect (since Nov 2016) I haven't heard any complaints. Does that mean everyone is OK with the changes and there have been no problems?

We were one of the last cruises with the prior dining options in October and we're going again in May 2017 but I thought there may be some challenges with the change-over, but I can't find anything on the boards about it.

  2. Ship - Anthem of the Seas

    Deck - 7

    Stateroom # - 7514

Stateroom Category – DO - Obstructed

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – No noise from outside the cabin. No foot traffic as it's at the very end of the hallway. Can hear neighbors on the balcony only on one side as the other side of the balcony is a solid wall.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Category DO Cabin but the view was not obstructed. This is a cove balcony.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size

Was wind a problem? - Not as much as an open balcony. It is somewhat protected from the elements being inside the hull.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None

Any other comments? - We were curious about the cove balconies and wanted to try something different. The balcony was very private. This room is all the way forward at the end of a very long hallway.

  3. If you mean the farthest forward rooms, then yes. I just had Cabin 7514 last month. The room was fantastic. There's the hull cutting into the rectangular balcony making it circular instead. There's a also a slight protrusion of the ship directly in front of the balcony. Sticks maybe 4 feet out at ground level. Nothing bad at all. Prevents you from looking directly down, but otherwise beautiful views directly out. If the price is right, book it.

We booked room 7514 on the 10/20 sailing. We wanted to try the cove balconies and were excited to get this one. It looks like at lease one side of the balcony is completely "sealed", so there's no opening into the next balcony. Are both sides like this?

  4. I would be very unhappy. The thermal suite is the ONLY reason we book the Breakaway. Their spa is the best of any ship we've been on. We're in the spa 2 or 3 times a day. It's the major part of our cruise. We're going the week of 10/25/15 getting off on 11/1. If the spa was shut down the only thing I would want is a different cruise date.

  5. The first time on the Breakaway our bed was next to the closet and it was awkward to say the least trying to access our clothes. I had to sit on the bed to open the closet door. After that we always chose a cabin with the bed next to the balcony. I find it a better layout and it's much easier to get into the closet.

  6. Hi Doylecat! I was wondering if you can tell a little more about your spa experience and can you explain to me what a salt room is? I hope to snag a spa pass and wonder if the 200 price is equal to the value/benefit.

    Coka

We always buy the spa thermal suite option on cruises as there is nothing more we like than to soak in a hot tub. So the $200 price is worth it for us. On the Breakaway we had a spa balcony so it was included in the price of the cabin.

The Breakaway spa had by far the most number of lounge chairs so you always had a place to lay down and relax. Because the cost and limited number of spa passes available, it was never overcrowded.

The thermal suit has 2 saunas, a steam room and the salt room. The salt room is room temp (so it actually felt a little cool compared to the rest of the spa) and supposedly you get benefits from breathing in the salt air for 15 minutes. I didn't notice any difference, but I did go in as it was a cool & tranquil place to sit.

The whirlpool is very large with different hot tub and jetted areas. There are some good video tours of the spa on You Tube that show the whole spa.

  7. Thank you Zay for a great review. We were on the same cruise and met you at the meet and greet. I just finished reading your whole review and it was like going on the cruise all over again. We spent a good deal of our time in the spa, which is the best we've ever seen. And we loved O-Sheehan's - everyone's talking about the Chicken Pot Pie but did you try the Shepard's Pie? It was equally delicious. Try it next time. We're booking the Breakaway again next year, same time.
