  1. Awww sad to see Daniel go...I was surprised at his final look...when Zana came in to critique the designers the thing he was working on looked so different than what he ended up with...

Yeah and about Issac M's comment about them being wearable? What?

I feel bad for the designers trying to figure out what the heck the judges are going to look for???

Jeffery should have gone home as that lampshade thingy was a mess and poor model having to wear the mask over her face and walk a runway!?

I liked Mychael's look but it seemed tame to me for being avante garde.

I am getting way tired of Elena's antics of boo hooing and being overly dramatic...enough!

Not liking this season at all so far

  2. My thoughts were PUNK? On the runway?

I agree Seabunny...punk was/is about NOT being fashionable but rebellious and anti fashion. Sheesh...

Wasn't fond of anything picked as the highest scores or much that had the lower either. Daniel's made me smile as he is soooo not punk inspired that what he did was sort of off the wall but again much of his usual well fitted jacket which he does so nicely. LOL

Never have liked old tatoo neck and thought that Seth Aaron was more what I would have expected fashion punk would look like.

Hope the next challenge is more to my liking LOL:cool:

  3. I thought I was doing good with 5 pair LOL

Easy on and off black athletics for the plane and some days

Dressy black sandals for evening wear

    Hiking/walking sandals for tours

water shoes for the snorkel trip (didn't want to get cut on coral or shells)

    loafer/flats for more casual time

I could have done without the water shoes but they are so compact they really didn't take up room. I also was heading for a holiday visit of more than three weeks after the cruise so couldn't schlep around in sandals in the middle of winter LOL

As for flip flops...never wear them as I need support in my arches and wearing them give me leg cramps in the night.

  4. Well to me Dom and Braden were obvious choices for the finale and I think Braden was a bit more avante guard than Dom so it was a good win for him.

    As for the other three...

Helen was not at all avante guard with the orange dress and leaving the cocoon thingy off made it just an ordinary dress/gown. Her remake puzzled me as already stated she just seemed too take the colors of Kate's dress and made a version of her look from the week before. As often as they criticize designers for doing the same look over and over unless they edited it out their silence was deafening LOL

Alexandria was plenty avante guard but being all that flat black and just tacked when seen close up not so good...her redesign was OK but she did improve the pants

Justin did a great job with the avante guard design and it had some unique design with both pieces but it was pointed out that there was some imperfect sewing and the back zipper on his remake seemed crooked to me when the model walked away. He gets lots of points to me for taking on his own dress to remake and made it look very nice.

so in the end I think it came down to Heidi not giving on Alexandria and Nina not giving on Helen and the all have some concern on Justin's abilities (since they auffed him once already) so that is why we have the "design off". Plus it seems that they had set the precedent in the past to keep the interest in the show.

I have a soft spot for Justin, being from NC and over coming the limitations that happen from being deaf but I get the sneaking feeling that Helen will prevail much to my dismay :(

  5. Love to read all your comments each week.

Disagreed with the judges on both counts this week.

Winner had a nice jacket but the pants were a mess to me...not being a fashionista girl I just look at it from a "normal person's" point of view

Justin was encouraged by Tim and I think Tim felt a bit guilty for not being more questioning of where he was going with the glue lace. I think the idea was interesting but it just didn't work out. The color was praised and the idea of stretching was also praised but as for the yellow tent dress they really cut it to pieces!

I knew once Justin was called the Loosing designer Tim would save him...had a feeling. LOL

Wonder if any of you can explain exactly what they are talking about when they say editorial? I used to think it was sort of over the top and often NOT really wearable except by a Lady Gaga type...now I am not so sure...

  6. Yep quick thinking is a real divider! LOL

I have to believe that all those that are chosen are probably very creative and have at least SOME skills but having to work at such a fast pass and under the pressure of time, $$$ and all the drama really hurts the more fragile personalities.

  7. bye bye Sandro and hope he gets some help with his anger!

They picked the winner right this week. Very clever use of the ties and he does beautiful work! Looks like we are looking at the top three from those who had the highest scores...wouldn't surprise me if they are in the finals.

Unless things change I predict that Sue, Helen and the former military girl are the next three to go although sometimes someone manages to coast through because one of the middle group makes a BIG mess with a design.

And for next week another unconventional challenge?

What is going on? I know Heidi loves those as she has mentioned it many times.

  8. Am I the only one who is getting a bit tired of the "unconventional challenges"? I think one a season is plenty and I really think that it becomes a bigger challenge to sew with the "materials" rather than a design challenge.

I didn't think that the loosing dress/vest was all that aweful. I think personally that they were just tired of Timothy's lack of ability to either sew or be sophisticated in design.

I thought the Domo inspired dress was cute but also wasn't terribly sophisticated either. I thought the pants/top done by one of the other teams was though sigh....

As for Sandro...he is a mess! Somewhere there he has the talent but it seems he is out to sabotage himself with his childish behavior, vulgar language and condescending attitude toward women and almost anyone who isn't "him". I think he is horribly insecure and probably has been picked on in the past so he makes sure that he gets in the first stab!

I think this team thing always breaks down when the team doesn't get along and as long as they do these team challenges it's gonna be that way!

  9. So glad it's back...however....

The whole blind judging thing, unless they can't see the designers during the runway all they have to do is glance at the group to see who reacts in the first few seconds.

First week thought the judging was OK but agreeing that "nature boy" Timothy should have been auffed.

Week two I think the whole crying bit influenced the decision to let Helen stay. I thought Timothy's dress wasn't any worse than some of the others. The green dress was pretty but the peplum has been done so many times. Loved the dress Brandon did and loved that he didn't blow the bank and chose a synthetic fabric. He did a lovely simple dress and made a little cover up to go with.

I thought Zac made some very valid comments and the costume designer guy as well. Wasn't thrilled with Kate's dress as again it's been done before but it was pretty with the sapphires. :)

  10. Interesting that the "best" were almost copies of each other!

Silver-gold and almost the exact same shape. I thought that Uli and Anthony Ryann's dresses were so similar that they could have both been awarded the win!;)

I am glad to see Cassanova go...I think he just did a blah dress and it didn't even use much of his own materials

I agree about Ivy...used that same gold color again and I liked that she made sleeves for the dress but it was too simple for this challenge. Unless she really makes something spectacular next time I think she will be out. I have been surprised at how much trouble Ivy has had with the sewing since I seem to remember her doing very well at that before.

It's my turn to be gone for a while so....you all keep the thread going!

  11. Althea really missed the mark on this one...the fabric she had to use was REALLY not suitable for red carpet unless possibly for a very casual event. I think she should have done something more drapey but it just wasn't good!

Funny how they liked that aweful feather-y thing by Uli but the rather restrained trim on Emilio's was "too much"? LOL

    I thought LK's "p" ( sorry I don't know how to spell it)pants were dated looking blech!

I really have been disappointed in the challenges and the way they have been done...

Hoping for better in the future

  12. Yep I think you are right but as you say we are probably wrong! LOL

Andre has been a big disappointment to me as well...I wonder if many came on not so much to compete but to get their name more recognized?

Laura Kathleen bugs me with her attitude and I thought her Looks weren't any better than Kayne and at least his stuff fits well!

OK, if there is a show tonight it will be interesting to see who goes next from the previews!

  13. Sigh...bye bye Kayne...I am going to miss him.

Those judges are soooo inconsistent. One time they criticize about lack of color and the next time it's....too much color.

I think they all have their favorites and it almost doesn't matter what they make they won't be auffed in the early rounds.

Emillio seems to be catching on at the right time for him...Anthony Ryan or is it Ryan Anthony ? LOL, Uli and maybe one other Ivy? perhaps seem to get the best feedback.

The challenges are rather strange and this was the second avante-guarde challenge and they don't thrill me.

    We shall see

  14. Bye, bye Suede I am going to miss him but that dress was...ummm...gagh!

The top 3 were great and Emilio deserved the win although I thought the skirt was too long! Ivy's was cool but I agreed with the guest judge who said that the white chiffon was wrong. Ryan Anthony's was so pretty! I think it was very wearable yet also art-y.

For the life of me I just couldn't see what they saw in Laura k's dress????

I thought it was muteled in colors and from the back the zipper looked all crooked and the fringe????? I thought she should have gone.

I am just not fashion forward because I liked Kayne's again LOl

And those guest judges???? Looked like a couple of lumberjacks dressed up to go to town!!!

  15. MEH....I agree not my favorite challenge.

I think ULI didn't do the challenge and just made a pretty dress. I didn't even like it at all! LOL

I am surprised she won as they also commented on the lack of disco inspiration.

Funny how they liked Andre's outfit once he ditched the jacket. Ah well...so far I am not too impressed this season and I miss Tim!:(

  16. The thing with Wendy was that she had kind of an attitude but on the other-hand she was much older than the average contestant and I don't think they really got her.

There was an incident that was really sad when someone drew a mustache on a pic of her little daughter and she just lost it! Volcano-ed over everyone and no one would fess up to doing it even in the "after show" they did that year.

I wonder if anyone else misses the model picking and where the designer uses the same model unless they do a little upset the fruit basket...no pun intended LOL

  17. Not much of a first show in the workroom...that is the best part of the show to me. I like seeing how they work through creating their garment.

I liked who won and who was Auffed this time but I didn't think Andre's was that bad and I thought Kayne"s was HIS style but he tends to pageant looking things and I thought it was kind of pretty.

Isaac M annoys me as usual LOL

Still no favorite but I do agree DIVA CITY this season

  18. I am happy with the winner (no spoiler in case a few still haven't seen it yet).

I agree that his clothes are wearable NOW and so very well done.

Christopher just fell apart and I felt sorry for him somewhat, he is going to have to learn to control his self doubts but he is still very young.

I thought Fabio has such a different point of view from anyone else that his collection was sure to catch someone's eye for the future as well as now.

So now comes the next All Star version and there are some of my favorite characters coming back! LOL

  19. indiana71- I love seeing all your clothes and stuff laid out on the bed like that. Mine would have cat and dog hair on it before I could leave the room! LOL

I assume you aren't flying to your cruise port?

That is my big dilemma I have to not only pack for a cruise but also 3 weeks of winter visiting my family immediately afterwards all in a carry-on and one suitcase. Sigh. Won't be bringing my leather boots or coat too heavy and too much bulk.

Trying to figure out what can do double duty and not look too out of place in the Caribbean or winter weather.

  20. I love the ones I bought green for me and red for DH...I like to keep underwear and shapewear in one , sox and workout clothes in another. DH does the same mostly.

I too like them so I can keep like things together but not sure it really saves too much space.

Hope you like them if you decide to buy but at least they aren't terribly expensive.
