  1. We used Spencers for the beach break. Everyone was very friendly, the staff always made sure you had a drink and they are super friendly to chat with. The beach is amazing! Snorkeling wasn't bad either. They have free lounge chairs on the left side of the beach which is where Spencer sets up or you can go to the sugar beach resort and pay $50 a chair for the fancy padded ones. A gentlemen came over on a canoe full of fruits and coconuts and was making amazing drinks! 15 bucks for two big cups. On the ride back they show you some of the other resorts and cities along the water, they also nose into a bat cave which was neat. They get you back to the ship with a few hours to spare so you aren't rushed at all. They are one of the few tour companies i would use again.

  2. We just returned from a trip to Barbados and used Glory Tours for the Little England tour. To say it was unorganized is a understatement. First off they made it very clear to be on time for the start of the tour. We waited 20 minutes past the arrival time for everyone. Then it was a game of Van hopscotch. We never rode with the same group more then once and had several different drivers and vans. We waited past agreed upon meet times after the tour stops , this plus the van hopping cost us at least an hour and half. We booked a half day tour so we could still have beach time but because of the disorganization it cost us the rest of the day. Plus the van driver decided to take us on the " lifestyles of the rich and famous tour" at the end, even though no one wanted to see it, so that was another 30 minutes lost. Most of the drivers where nice and professional but when i asked what the deal was with switching vans all the time they got very rude and told me to book a private tour if i don't want to be hassled with it.

  3. Everyone seems to love assuming things. How do you know they didn't approach someone earlier about the issues they may have had? Maybe they never resolved the issue and they felt the full tip amount was not warranted and they will leave a lesser tip? I had a room steward who never showed up on a 7 day cruise. We had to make the bed into a queen from the twin setup even had to call for towels and all sorts of things. I complained to customer service and housekeeping manager on the 3rd day and almost everyday till the end of the cruise. All i got was excuses.. i removed the tips and tipped everyone except the room steward.

  4. NO Hotels are open yet. it’s not just the airport nightmare.....it is nothing short of that right now. I am all for helping with $$$, but not until the basic necessities of the people of Puerto Rico are being met, does it make sense for an influx of outside people to take that away for those who so need it. I pray it is soon and not for my vacation, but for all those in Puerto Rico.....

Not true. The La Concha posted they are now open.

  5. There are only 15 power plants in all of Puerto Rico. The widespread downed power lines will have tripped the plants offline, and the power company will start from the plants and disconnect all lines until they can determine where the first breaks are, and then start powering up section by section. Yes, rural Puerto Rico may be without power for 4-6 months, but I would doubt that San Juan will be out of service that long, since two large plants are right around the city, and the vast majority of the power plants (all the big ones) are clustered in the eastern part of the island. Now, having said that, the Puerto Rico power company is basically bankrupt, but I believe they can benefit from some massive Federal relief money to greatly improve their power infrastructure.

That's not entirely correct. Depending on what they have for blackstart capibility and cranking paths between plants for startups. You also dont have to work from the plants out to the distribution ( and you typically dont) you can actually start at the 69kv substations and feed into the 12kv with generators. It all depends on what targets came in on the relaying and such. You usually create many small islands and then connect those islands to create stability for frequency and load. Typically you want a large generator for the rotating mass and several smaller units that can ramp up and down quickly.
