  1. Thank you so much for the review. We are going next summer and already thought about the rental car as a possibility but now it is a definite.

I am usually not a planner but feel since this is a trip that will take a lot of effort and money to get there for a family of 6, it is taking a little more research and planning.

We are thinking of flying into a different island for some exploring on our own then taking a short island hop flight (approx. $75 / person) to Honolulu for Pearl Harbor/Diamondhead before setting sail. The flights have been trending cheaper doing a multi-city itinerary than round trip Honolulu.

  2. I hope I am not "hi-jacking" the thread; but I also have a question regarding 4 person mini-suites. We will have 4 people in our mini-suite and I am wondering if all are configured the same way for the 3rd and 4th guests. I am wondering particularly about the Pullman vs. sofa beds. I am hoping for a queen, a Pullman, and a sofa bed instead of a queen and two Pullmans, but all the options I have seen on Princess website is queen/upper and twins/upper. I haven't found one for sofa bed; am I overlooking that option, or does it not exist? Thanks in advance :)

  3. It is usually offered only once per cruise and usually on the last sea day.

It is limited to 12 or 14 people.

To book it, go to the Purser's Desk as soon as possible after you board and ask to be put on the list.

Just to be sure, do you go to the Purser's desk or the excursion desk? I am interested in doing this tour on our next Princess cruise, but don't want to stand in line at the wrong desk and miss the opportunity!!

  4. I know this is a far stretch...but I am going to try it anyway. My family and I are just off of the Conquest today (10/12-10/19) and we have lost a plastic bag that contained pink and black flip flops, orange and blue nike sandals, and a bottle of sunblock. We last remember having it on Honduras day (I believe that was Thursday). We checked with guest services because we thought we lost it around the security check point when entering the ship, but no luck. If anyone may have picked up our bag by accident (or know someone that did), can you be so kind to message me? I will gladly pay shipping. Thanks!!

  5. I love those smaller ships. But, I will take the larger ones too. Just put me on a ship and I am happy.

I prefer the small ships, but it is hard to get a 7-day on a small ship (doable, but hard). I will take a larger ship to get to places that are farther and take more time to get to.

  6. :D That would be the passenger side.

Aka Starboard. My husband has a cheesy way to remember it... "I'm a star and I'm always right" Thus Starboard = right side of ship. It's funny how you remember the cheesy stuff...

Call me a nerd, but I remember the sides of the ship with a cheesy way as well... port has 4 letters, left has 4 letters, right and starboard, well they are both more than 4 letters. Also, aft has 3 letters and starts with "a", there is another word that has 3 letters and begins with "a"...

APDMOM, I have enjoyed reading this thread and seeing all of your photos. You should get hours of cruise critic community service :p My family is considering going out of Jacksonville for our 2013 cruise. If we do, I will have to let you know. Maybe we can book on the same cruise and "meet" that way, instead of you wishing that you were onboard watching us leave.

  7. I have another question regarding the 9 month thing. We are a party of 7 booked for November. We have already had to change our sail date because of the ship getting chartered out (but that all occurred before the 9 month deadline). However, one of the people in our party cannot go. When I called my NCL vacation specialist, he said to leave her on the booking until the final payment then take her off, just in case she changes her mind again. He says that it is always easier to take someone off, then to put them on. But will they have to "cancel our booking, and re-book"? If so, we will all lose our 9 month latitudes reward points....

  8. I hope it is in good shape!!! I bought one on the Liberty in 2007. First time I had saw one and I bought it (good thing I did, it was the last one I saw for sale). Everyone teased me for it, but it has been the best souvenir yet (well, besides my ships on sticks, lol!!!)

  9. I'm curious as we have an early excursion here as well. Do all the ships tender in Grand Cayman? We will be on the Destiny. I have not been to Grand Cayman in quite some time, so pardon the rookie question.

Yes, all ships tender in Cayman. This is because the shoreline/pier doesn't have deep enough waters for the cruise liners. But like what they said earlier, it is nothing to fret about. Very easy and fast. Don't feel bad for questions, that's what we are here for! ;)
