  1. On the other hand the new queen is slmost a third larger. 130,000 grt vs 99,000grt. With that big of a difference adding a larger P deck is possible. I was on K dam last week and if the decks are widened by just a few ft and the life boats raised a little it looked possible. I'm

not an engineer but it did seem possible.

  2. I go to Churchill's when ever I'm on a Cunard ship. I also always bring my cigars, cutter and lighter and they are packed in my suitcase. I have never been questioned nor had any issues. This includes flying from the U.S. and embarking in Hamburg, Southampton or New York. Enjoy your smoke!

  3. I just wanted to pass this information on.

I was on Seaside yesterday to escort clients around the ship. I also wanted to know about Bella dinner guests dining arrangements. I spoke to Antonio, who is the head Maitre D on board Seaside. He told me the smaller buffet is being used for dinner, not the Marketplace. I was off the ship by the time dinner was served so I didn't see it for myself. Regarding the longstanding misinformation regarding dinner, On American based MSC ships, water and coffee are served, no question in the dining room. Are there going to be service issues on-board? Absolutely, and this happens on just about every new ship of almost every cruise line in existence. Those of you sailing in a few months, or perhaps less, I wouldn't worry too much. They will get it together. For what ever your reason, and of course you are certainly entitled, some folks just dont like or understand the product. Some of you love it, and frankly I'm one of you. But at the least, I think it would helpful not to pass out misinformation, or info that is not vetted for accuracy.

  4. I'm sailing on Queen Vic also on August 12 and I also have a guarantee. My cabin hasn't been assigned yet either. Don't worry about it! The worse case scenario is you find out your cabin when you arrive. You do NOT have to have a boarding pass. It might take a few minutes longer when you arrive, but that's it. As far as tags, the porter will have your name and cabin assignment and get your tags then. The worst case scenario is your cruising on an incredible ship and a great time lies ahead.

  5. It is a small world! My husband grew up on Coleman Street, one block off Quentin. I noticed you sailed too many times on the SI Ferry - so did I! Parents moved to SI from Brooklyn when I was a young teenager, and boy, did I miss Brooklyn!

Oops, sorry to go off topic - I'm keeping an eye on developments at La Guardia & will post any noteworthy changes.

Cheers to all the old neighbors and strangers that become new friends on Cunard ships :) -Salacia

And I moved to Staten Island for a few years, before I moved to Florida.

  6. Its the same place Salacia! Camelot was right in between Quentin Rd and Ave P. It had a bit of a unsavory crowd.. We probably lived just a few blocks away from each other. Small world, but we definitely have something in common! Brooklyn and our love of Cunard. I hope to sail with you someday! I'm sure there is a Mary in both our futures!

  7. OK, I volunteer! Even though I'm more of a lurker but it appears that photographic action needs to be taken! I'm going on the Mary July 15 for 9 nights. Ill take a myriad of pictures and make sure there posted. We dont want anyone to be stressed out over pictures of our baby. Consider it done.

  8. Your certainly correct Salacia about janitors having the inside scoop on occasion, But my associate is pretty far up the totem pole. He also told me that the story of the Chart room being removed from Victoria on her refit was not in the plans. Ill be on Mary July 15 and I can report on my thoughts of the refit. I'm hoping for the best.

  10. I was on the Oct 22 TA and had the pleasure to meet The executive chef Klaus. I asked him if he new what they were doing with KC and he told me it was being gutted and being remodeled based on the lido restaurant on P & O Brittania. I dont know whether or that meets most of your approval, but that's what the man said. I would think he would be more in the know then most.
