  1. Actually sorry bad information! I just remembered it was Dominican Republic we had that was canceled on the December 4 sailing that was substituted for Nassau. I mixed up in my head our March 12 sailing of RCCL Odyssey of the Seas which just cancelled Grand Cayman for us for Nassau as well!

I guess for me one of the reasons I was so excited that the Alaska trips remined vaccinated only (12 and up for August) was my expectation that this would allow it to be mask-free on board. I know the Serenade information applies to trips only in July so far, but really am hoping that the mask restrictions are lifted prior to August sailings. I'm a bit surprised that some of the sailings in the Caribbean show a daily cruise planner saying that vaccinated passengers don't need to wear masks anywhere on the ship yet the Serenade information on RCCL's site says vaccinated passengers will have to. Odd. But ever-changing, and reminds us all of the need to be flexible in these crazy times.

That is exactly how I felt, I have no interest in sailing on a ship of unvaccinated adults. I too felt that I was going to not have any restrictions. Ever since New York hit 70% vaccinated over a month ago we stopped all mask requirements unless people choose to wear them. Stinks the thought of paying for a vacation and having to do something we no longer do in public. Like before I am totally for masks but not after the majority of people that are vulnerable are protected. Just my opinion though.

I agree - and hope that they change that rule. We are scheduled to sail on Ovation out of Seattle in August and I really don't want to be wearing masks all the time. (I'm 100% in favor of masks when they are helpful but since we will be a 100% vaccinated cruise, it doesn't seem to make sense.)

I totally agree with you, I am also very much in favor of masks but since it was a vaccinated ship I was looking forward to not having to worry anymore while on vacation. Let’s hope the rules are only for July and are lifted by August!

  4. I am just wondering what people think about still having to wear masks while inside of the ship except while actively eating, drinking, or inside room cabin. It really seems over the top since the ship is fully vaccinated for everyone 12 or up on our August 16th trip to Alaska on Serenade of the Seas out of Seattle! Really ridiculous considering that the rules out of Florida are not even requiring a vaccine!

  5. We are sailing on the spirit in March and have been able to reserve all of our dining times. We would like to eat at teppanyaki but it says no reservations. Does anyone know why they do not allow you to reserve that restaurant? I would hate to wait in till we get onboard

  6. We parked at Maui Mall on October 23. Bought some things at Long Drugs which is open 24 hours and left a receipt in the window. There was several other cruisers that parked even closer than Longs. When I talked to the Port security they told me they have never heard anyone being towed. After seeing the mall it is like any other mall in america on a Sunday night empty! I can't see why the mall security would care especially since the cruise brings so much activity to the mall and from what i could tell they do not enforce. Why would a minimum wage security guard care? The signs are minimal and faded at best. We chose to gamble along with numerous others on our cruise. Every mall in america says no overnight parking. Since Long Drugs is open 24 hours I cannot believe there is a way they can differentiate between a cruiser and a customer and would be liable if they towed a customer.

  7. Just an update on our question. We ended up parking at the Maui Mall along with a lot of other passengers. We bought something at Long Drugs and left a receipt in the window. Went out the next morning and it was still there! Port security told me that they have never actually heard of anyone being towed and due to Long Drugs being open 24 hours it would be impossible for the mall to enforce. On a side note you can park for free in kauai on the side of the road from the port all the way to Amber Cove if you are lucky like we were you can save the $20.00 parking fee at Amber Cove.

  8. I know that there has been a lot of threads on this subject in the past but I was wondering if anyone recently has been there. We will be in Maui next week on the POA. I have a snorkel trip booked that leaves at 630 AM and would like to leave the car overnight at the Maui mall. I know some say don't do it but I have also read that others did not have any problem. I think it would be difficult to try and get a ride to the airport at 500 AM

  9. I booked through a travel agent and i watched the fares myself and when i saw the rates drop i called the travel agent who contacted NCL and was able to have me upgraded. I was originally upgraded to a BF guarantee but a few hours later they assigned me to a BA on the 9th deck mid ship for free! I was surprised they already gave me the cabin number i figured that would come right before sailing!

  10. I have some onboard credit $250 that supposedly will be available once i am onboard. I plan on using it to purchase a 3 day specialty restaurant deal with it. I was able to make reservations for cagneys and jeffersons bistro already due to them being ala carte but i can not reserve tappanyaki it forces you to pay upfront. has anyone either called the customer service to over ride the website or paid up front and then was able to get refunded for the price later or do they reduce the price of the 3 day package when i get onboard since i paid upfront the 1st meal?

  11. Hi We are booked for that shore excursion as well for our October 22 POA cruise! We plan on leaving the ship at 545AM because we will walk to get to our car and the check in for the trip is at 630 in maalena. We intend on parking somewhere near the mall. It appears to be a similar trip as the cruise line but it was a lot cheaper. Molokai Crater & Turtletown are the itinerary. It says that it has a light breakfast and lunch for the 5 hour trip. I think we will be there October 24! Hate the thought of leaving that early but since we are from the east coast i imagine we will be wide awake by 300AM! because of the 6 hour time difference.

  12. We are from Syracuse, lots of Bills fans in our group!! I would assume Atlantis will be packed that day and anything with Atlantis is costly. We are parasailing that day and some are going to Blue Lagoon.

Our kids are really good kids, I mean they are teenagers, but two asked how big the library is onboard?!?! We also have two young kids (not mine). One couple doesn't have children and are coming with us.....what were they thinking!!

We are traveling Friday, see you on board!!!!

Yeah Bills Fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We just booked blue lagoon last night so we are all set! See you onboard!

  13. Wow that is a really large group of teens! Good luck with that! We are also from new york and are daughter is off of school that week. We originally were going to do the atlantis aqua venture but are worried it will be mobbed with all of the kids off of school. Hate to pay a ton of money just to stand in line at the slides. I will see you onboard!

  14. i have a cancelled april 2017 cruise on the spirit. does anyone no when the epic will have itinerary posted? I cannot believe the bad customer service! I have not heard a word from NCL about anything and have had to resort to cruise critic for all of the information. I have heard they will offer a 7 night on the epic as an exchange from my April 2017 easter break cruise. they will only exchange from november-march for the epic. i am trying to find out if that will include the february vacation or the christmas vacations are available since my daughter cannot miss school.Of course i don't know what is true or not since NCL will not give me any information not even a single email that my cruise is cancelled! I love the rate i received and now it appears it was a bait & switch!

  15. We will be in Skagway all day for my Birthday and my wife and daughter want to go out for an early dinner. Is their anywhere that anyone would care to recommend for good local food? Prefer seafood. As a side note we are renting a car and traveling to Emerald Lake and stopping in Carcross and the suspension bridge for the day and would like to grab dinner before getting back on the boat. Thanks.

  16. Loving the review. While we are on the Pearl in alaska this summer we are also "cheating" on the Grandeur in February! Very interested in your comparison. I just couldn't beat the RCCL deal out of Baltimore and the ease of driving there. Hopefully it is a good cruise we have only been on RCCL twice with the most recent in 2007 I have always thought they do a great job, we just are hooked on freestyle! Keep the review coming you are doing great!
