  1. Go to the web site of the cruise line you want to sail on. They will have different areas of the world where they sail, just check out the area you wish to go, or check the entire list. You will have to go to each cruise line to do this but there is no need to put in your info as all you are doing is checking dates, where, lenght of cruise, and BASIC cost.

  2. Have been on over a dozen Princess cruises and have never received a bill via email.  Check your medallion, and there has also been a place near the customer service desk where you can print out yours at any time.  Or ask at the desk.  Do it the night before as my charges have always shown up almost immd. and if you wait until the day of departure there may be a loooong line.

I'm debating cancelling my cruise.  So far, I have only paid a $500 deposit.  I have a solo cabin booked.  I don't want to be quarantined for 2 wks in a solo cabin.  The virus seems to be spreading even with the quarantine.  My flights are booked for Rome.  I can just do an Italy trip.  Thoughts?

The virus does not come the ship it comes from people.  On land you may be in a hotel or restaurant near someone with (a virus).  I just heard on the news 2 days ago that all ready 1500 people have died in the USA from the flu this flu season.  Last years flu season it was reported over 12,000 people died from the flu. We don't stay in our homes in the USA during the flu season.  Travel but be careful, wash hand often.  I leaving in 2 weeks on a cruise and have one planned for next fall. No plans to cancel either.

  4. Have been on 3 reposition and 2 round trip transatlantic cruises and food is the same as any other, entertainment is no different other than they may be on board a couple days longer. Weather ???? have been in calm seas (like glass) and on one north Atlantic cruise had 30 foot swells with the sun shining, the storm was else where and we just caught the after effects. Enjoyed the sea days.

That would work for the adults. We have five teens who we want to be able to communicate with more efficiently.

The most efficient way yo communicate is to speak directly to the person or persons you wish to speak with.  With head and EYES in the phone you never really see what is going on around you, you only see the phone and text.

  6. people seem to be so fussy about the desk top, bath sink, storage shelves and drawers for being clean yet they head out and touch all the hand rails, chair backs, doors, deck rails, sit on the pool side chairs that have had "stuff", pool bags, food plates, shoes, etc. placed on them as the person goes swimming, and non of that is wiped down after each use, I can not follow the logic.  Sure  a person needs to be careful and diligent but there is a point of no return.  Think of all the business you have been in that do not wipe down everything after each person. The ships I  have been on  14 different ships, 3 cruise lines, 17 cruises all have done an excellent job on being clean.  Are they perfect, no, but better than most other business entities.

  7. A couple years ago we cruised out of Houston on princess, we were Platinum and a couple traveling with us were 1st time cruisers. We asked as we entered the Priority line if our friends could also go with us. Yes, they could and they did.  About 30 people in our line about 150 in the general check in line.  We all went aboard together.

Happily booked but worried about placement. We would love to see the view from our balcony.

If you have ever been, please let me know which side you choose.

Is your cruise east to west or west to east, or is it a combo of both.  If it is a long distance between ports you'll be to far from shore to see anything.  Pick the side of the ship which is most often on the land side when sailing. In ports either side of the ship may or may not have a better view, also could be sunny and hot in the afternoon or you may be in the shade.  No guarantee until the ship docks.

I have been on 4 Med cruises on 2 different lines and have had port and starboard cabins.  Enjoyed all from Gibraltar to Istanbul.

  9. I would not want to pick one line only, my wife and I sail to see and experience different countries and cultures. It would become boring to always sail the same style. Also I have been on Holland where the music was super, the next time the piano player/singer sang about 4 to 5 beats off pitch, and he was on a 2 month contract. After a half dozen songs of off key singing I had to move. Every time I went by his venue the same thing. Hopefully the next musician was better. You can't base the music on one trip on the line. Next time we sailed Holland it was good. The best piano player I have ever heard on a ship was on Princess.

  10. No issues with ceiling height, but the length of the beds are an entirely different matter. I find that they are usually slightly shorter than a normal queen sized bed in the US, and certainly not as long as a king size bed.

Your normal queen and king bed length is the same. A California king is longer but not used on ships.

  11. We were a 35 day cruise on the Veendam in a Lanai cabin a loved it. Sure it was a bit smaller but still big enough to sleep and change, why do you need a large room when you have the entire ship as your house. Never had a problem with deck chairs as "ALL" the chairs are not reserved for Lanai rooms, 2 per room but still left many chairs open for anyone. Nice to step out on the deck and go fore or aft with ease.

  12. I have made 2 round trips and a couple each one way, east and west. Really no difference unless you try and fight the change of time. Sure is a lot better than to lose or gain of 4-6 hrs in a 24hr period. Also a couple times the ship changed times at 2:00 PM (afternoon), you just lost or gained an hour in the middle of the afternoon and I never really noticed a time change. All ships should change mid-day. when at sea, not in port.

  13. Having cruised to Barcelona 3 times we have had to take a ship shuttle bus to and from the ship to town, near the Columbus monument. Sometimes we have had to wait for the bus up to 20 -30 min. Depends on how long it takes the bus to fill up before they depart either way. It all depends on when your ship is scheduled to leave. Be on board 1 hour before! Departure day there is also the lifeboat drills required by all who sail. You will really have a very short time on shore. I would arrive a day early. Your added expense is 1 nights hotel, a one or 2 meals.

  14. I am a 4 star and I did have most all the info on Mariner before, but Listed now is for separate for each cruise; name of ship, dates sailed, destination, number of cruise days , on board spending points if earned, suite points if used,(one time), total points for each cruise. In a separate area is a grand total of cruise day credits, total cruise days only, bonus days, how many credits needed to next level.

  15. I received the e-mail, proceeded to the web site on my own and yes it is different than the old but I found everything I needed. Found m

y present cruise already booked, on my account I found my mariner status ( with more info than previous web site) past cruises, dates, points etc. I guess those that complain would want to go back to the very 1st web site ever and live with that. Did a dummy booking for a future cruise and found it OK. A few wrong clicks that took me else where, but found the correct clicks did the job. Go and play around with the various tabs, see what comes up and go with the new. Different is not always bad just takes a bit to get used to. Holland has changed it's site since its 1st edition came out a month or 2 ago. Give them a chance to work the bugs out.

  16. Last year on the Voyage of the Vikings cruise on the Rotterdam the self serve laundry machines would only use dispensed soap that the ship had in the machine. Could not use your own soap. In 3 weeks we will be on the Veendam for 49 days and will sometimes use the self serve laundry. Question; Does anyone know if the Veendam machines dispense the ships soap or can you use your own? Don't want to pack our soap if we can not use it.

    Thanks.

  17. Don't know what line your on but we have booked back to back cruise on Holland, NCL You should have 2 choices, either atay on board all day and relax OR go ashore on your own, book a tour either private or a ship tour. I am sure if you check the cruise your on you will find tours that the ship is giving in Barcelona. We have been there 3 times, did the Hop on Hop Off city bus and also just wondered on our own. Have fun.

  18. I can understand the people who state they don't like something around their neck:(, but I use a lanyard and I'll bet no one knows it.

I have the front desk punch a hole in my cruise card I clip it on my lanyard and it goes under my shirt where it stays until I need it. That is all I carry on the lanyard, a very small narrow light weight cloth one.

On shore no one will ever see it so I don't understand how that makes me look like a tourist. I may look like a tourist for other reasons but NOT because of the lanyard.

  19. Your married, wear it all the time. If I get held up while on shore the ring is going to be the least of my worries. My life is worth a whole lot more and a thief who would steal your ring right off your finger would most likely do more if they thought the ring was a fake. I would be more worried about a purse, wallet, camera, backpack, etc., snatch and run, they are gone! 3 seconds!

  20. We sailed the VOV in 2016 on the Rotterdam and the Greenland ports are just great for a nice walk around town and to take in the sights. Dress in layers as we were there in July and August and nice sunny days but if you were in the wind is was quite cold. Just enjoy seeing how the people live in these fishing villages.

The sale thru the Prince Christian Sound was a beautiful, sunny, no wind day, whales, seals, ice burgs, spend the day outside don't be inside playing games. Enjoy what God has given us.
