  1. Can you please list the amenities? Sometimes they change. Thank you!

Here is a portion of what a reviewer posted about the Langford two days ago:

"The refurbished 1920's bank building had been lovingly transformed into an elegant boutique hotel. Once inside you are greeted with a waft of a subtle pleasant scent. The lobby is small, floors are marble, crown molding and gold leaf decor. The rooms are a little small but well appointed. Comfy beds, nice bathrooms. Hotel had a rooftop bar and an adjacent restaurant. They do offer a complimentary continental breakfast."

For the location and price, how could I go wrong!!

  2. We are cruising with the kids in March and really like the idea of just walking from port on our own time to have a beach day, browse some shops, etc.

Of course I've read some comments about Junkanoo being trashy with some shady characters and that has me concerned. But is the BC Hilton that much better to be worth over $200 for a family of 4? It seems to be basically the same beach without locals and a very small area as well.

Can anyone weigh in on this?

    Thanks!!

a beach is a beach is a beach...but Junkanoo is a tradition! (could you do both?) Had I not been to Junkanoo on a previous cruise, that's what I choose hands down!

  3. Hi. I was wondering if kids were allowed at the parties (80s, glow, etc..)?

I just got off the Getaway yesterday, April 17th. The theme parties are located at Spice H2O, Deck 16. All evening events held at Spice H2O are for ALL ages and yes that does include the 80s and GLOW celebrations.

The GLOW party starts at 10:30 PM. There's a GLOW pre-party that starts around 10:00 PM. Be sure to get there early and get in line to have you and your kids' faces glow-painted. Wear white or even better, where something neon! Word of warning - that venue gets very crowded but you should have a good time! :D

  4. the white water seems more calm [i.e. might be boring] but you don't have to wear life vests and there's a jump and it's close to blue hole.

the rio bueno has small rapids and is closer to falmouth. you do not have to tie together anymore [thankfully] but wear vests and helmets.

liberty tours does blue hole and river bueno but other popular tour companies advertise blue hole and white river [calypso rafting].

any thoughts? we are taking our teens. White river is cheaper.

    Thanks.

    Trish

Unless you are navigating Class V rapids, you don't have to worry. I think they are just being responsibly cautious. Go for the adventure!

  5. We were in Cozumel in early October and went to Nachi. The seaweed was HORRIBLE and the smell from it rotting was even worse. It literally triggered my gag reflex. We stayed under 2 hours, we just couldn't take the smell any more. We didn't even attempt to get in the water and just swam in the pool. Many, many people were upset that in order to get in the ocean, they would have to wade through seaweed, and were quite upset there was no sort of warning issued before we paid our balance to get in. I used to belong to a couple of FB groups and warned others there that they may not want to go there and waste their hard earned money because of the very bad seaweed situation and I immediately got ripped apart and flamed for steering people away from Nachi because of something "our of their control", so I was reluctant to answer your question. But if you're like us, you are not a millionaire and we like to get the most bang for our vacation buck. We were not able to enjoy Nachi at all, and I was hoping I could maybe help some folks out by passing that along. I left those groups, as I certainly wouldn't want to try to help any of them again. But then again, I'm sure a lot of them are CC members and may very well resume the flaming right here on this thread. :) LOL

Wow, I was at Nachi last month (November) and had no seaweed or foul smell issues. There must be a lot of variables. That was my second time at Nachi in two years and neither time was there a problem. My problem with Nachi is that it is getting run down and they just aren't fixing things up. Service and quality definitely had gone down in the months since I had last gone there. I'm going to Cozumel again in April 2016, but I won't be going back to Nachi.

  6. How much medical and medical evacuation do you purchase for Europe cruise travel. Do u recommend any particular company. Do you use only companies where they r primary insurers.

I purchased a policy that has $100,000 medical and a whopping $1,000,000 evacuation; upgraded to primary and the total cost was $74. (look-back for PEC's was 60 days). I zero'd out the trip cost (I have a credit card with coverage) and that saved money.

Medical and evacuation were my biggest coverage concerns so I really looked and compared coverages before deciding what was best for me. You really have to prioritize and get what gives YOU peace of mind.

  7. I posted this under another thread over a week ago.

I prioritized what was really important to ME coverage-wise and chose a plan that was heavy on medical and evacuation, with a 60-day look back for pre-existing conditions.

I zeroed-out the actual trip cost. I did realize that by doing so that I would not have cancellation or interruption coverage, etc. I do have coverage through my credit card which makes up for my zero-ing out my trip costs with the 3rd party plan. Doing that saved me money without sacrificing an adequate medical/evacuation amount ($100,000 medical, $1,000,000 evacuation).

I also paid an extra $25 to upgrade from secondary to primary as, I noted previously, I am traveling by myself. Total I paid (including the $25 upgrade) was around $74. There was also some coverage for baggage included in the upgrade - I think up to $500.

Seeing someone evacuated from the ship during my last cruise put a little scare into me. "What if" (fill in the blanks). The peace of mind is worth it.

  8. We've been on 25 cruises. Never purchased insurance.

Don't want to push my luck anymore.

    Just a few questions, please.

Do they send you the complete policy?

Do you have to bring it with you when you cruise?

Oh wow - you sound like me! This is my first time purchasing cruise/travel insurance. When I was on a cruise this past May someone had to be evacuated medically from the ship and that was an OMG moment for me.

I travel alone and besides the potential of a costly evacuation, I would have to be transported with no one to accompany me. I researched until my head started spinning and learned that "no one insurance fits all" is an understatement.

I received a policy booklet in the mail and I intend to take it with me on my cruise in October. Good luck to you in your decision.

  9. We have 2 flight options going home on a Saturday. Our cruise gets into POM on a Saturday morning at 8. We have priority disembarcation. DH wants to book a flight at 11:30am, whereas I'd be more comfortable taking the 4pm flight, even if that means sitting in the airport all day. Is an 11:30 flight doable?

I'm going to disagree - book it! I do it all the time and have never once had any issues - I wouldn't hesitate- book your transportation from POM to FLL ahead of time and you will be fine!!!

  10. Yup - my 2 friends and I were originally booked on this cruise - RCCL hasn't even notified the one person in our group who booked through RCCL that she won't be going! Tsk tsk, RCCL - converting to a charter is one thing - but not making sure the affected passengers are aware first - well, that's just not good PR. I know, RCCL won't be losing anything when we don't rebook with them - BUT - people would certainly feel better if they thought you valued them!

Just my 2 cents about the realities of cruising.

Ivanna Cruz somewhere on December 9th - so I'm headed on over to see what the other lines have that week.
