1. Hi Barbjd & Violetmoon,

Thanks for the replies. I agree, and can see it's better to view it as a lifestyle change vs. diet plan. It's also comforting to know that you did not gain any weight while cruising, Brabjd.

Violetmoon, I think starting now allows enough time so that you're meeting goal by November. Congrats on your upcoming marriage and weight already lost. :)

2. I've been doing intermittent fasting for about a month and a half and I've lost about 25lbs. On workdays, I skip breakfast and lunch and usually eat once a day, which is roughly every 20-24 hours. My meals almost always are two-course. First, I load up on sauteed vegetables and then I have some meat. On the weekends, I'm less disciplined, but I tend to skip breakfast and delay lunch, continuing to prioritize vegetables over meats over fats over carbs. I've also eschewed beer. I'm barely exercising and I'm probably as lazy as before I started. I think this is a lot easier than watching what I eat.

Hi ludomonster, congrats on doing so well! Are you primarily eating low carb? I recently started, last week, and lost 3.8 lbs. Very easy loss considering I've been eating whatever I wanted this past week. Plus coming from a low carb diet on top of that...but wondering if you're doing the same? thanks!

Everyone else, thanks for checking in and letting us know about you all's progress. Very encouraging! :)

3. This is my first post on CC. I have been a WW member for many years. I lost over 10 pounds recently but had a really bad week this week. I feel like I may be up 5 lbs or more. Every time I lose some weight I gain some back. I guess it is back to WW again. Cruise to the Med in June 2013.

Hi kjonescat! Congrats on the loss. I'm tired of relosing the same pounds over and over too.

4. Can I join? I started a little over a week ago (online) and lost 4lbs but was eating more lower carbs. I've been doing Atkins for years, lost really well but have been struggling the past year or so gaining and relosing the same pounds. I wanted to try something different but am having a hard time giving up that 'low carb' menatality. I felt too restrictive counting points and carbs so I've given up counting carbs and just eat to daily points now. Do most of you all count just points? I've slacked off with exercising so I need to get back into that too. You all seem like a good support system so it's very encouraging to read the success you all have had thus far. :)

5. Hi everyone!! Typed a long message and it just disappeared:mad:. Congrats to those sticking to plan!! :D

Tiersaj~the beginning is the hardest..after the first week your cravings usually diminish and make it easier to stick with it. I'm not going to promise that temptations go away though....lol.

I'm real close to short-term goal..I hopefully can meet it by next weekend. I've lost 23lbs since Thanksgiving and 13lb since the new year. Hope to lose another 10 by cruise (in 40 days). :D
6. Hi all!! Haven't posted in awhile but looks like everyone is doing well. Congrats to those who had slip-ups but got right back on track. I've been sticking to plan and now have 6lbs left to reach short-term goal (175). Would be happy to reach 170 by cruise date (45 more days) though. :D Going to keep plugging along...
7.
Shari08 - What cruise are you on? We are going on the Enchantment leaving May 2nd.
We're going on the Liberty of the Seas..May 9th. :) I'm not a big soda drinker but when I do drink one I don't count it as a carb. I agree, I love the fat that you don't have to eat 'low-fat' to lose weight.
8.
Hi everyone! I just started induction today! Not too bad so far, but I decided to go the Atkins route after reading a bunch of your posts and visiting the Sugar Free Sheila site. Thanks for all the sharing ya'll have been doing. I want to lose 45-50 pounds. I have a caribbean cruise first week of May so would be nice to lose a few before then, but would really like to focus on altering my eating habits permanently. I have a few questions from those who have been on the program a while. When can I expect my appetite to decrease? And where do I get the strips to test for ketosis? Can't wait to see some results! Thanks for your help!:D
Hi Ceb!! I'm cruising the first week of May too!! Hope to drop at least 15 by then. For me, my appetite surpressed within 5-7days..when in really deep ketosis. Also, I purchased keto strips from Walmart. HTH.

Also, welcome Sport-mom!! :)
9. Jean thanks for the welcome and great ideas!! I wish I only had half my goal to lose..I still have 15 more to go..lol. I've checked out SFS's website and she is def a testimony to how successful Atkins is. I may try that gooselace recipe tonight. :)
10. Hi everyone. Ok, I have a little under 9wks to lose approx. 15lbs. Have lost 7 so far but it has been slowwww (8wks). I'm doing Atkins. What has helped you all lose the best? Plus, I workout about 5-6 days a week, usu. doing Jillian Micheal's Shred or treadmill for about 35min. Thanks for any advice.
11. Hello everyone!! Been coming to CC since last year and never noticed this thread!!:o I have a cruise booked for 5/9 (81 days)and have a goal to reach 165. I've lost 7 so far, need to lose 35 more. Lost beautifully for my 1st cruise in '06 doing Atkins..so back on the bandwagon . Looking forward to getting to know everyone...

BTW: Recognize SFSheila from LCF..you're an Atkins icon :).

oops, just noticed I said this wrong...want to lose 20 more not 35..that's more doable :D

Cerabella~like your attitude!!

12. I enjoy having some sharp cheddar grated on a salad or simple a few cubes as a snack. It tastes good and satisfies my hunger.

I find that it, uh...slows me down in terms of regularity. Do any of you find that to be the case? I'm drinking plenty of water but I notice that cause-and-effect when it comes to cheese.

Your thoughts?

Hi Deckguy..I use Magnesium/Calcium tabs at night and this helps a lot with moving things along daily. Gotta have my cheese...:p
