  1. My brother and I gave our parents a cruise for their 50th- since they usually went South for the winter, we found a cruise out of Miami. If your parents are ok driving, I would look for the closest large port and look at the cruises leaving from there and try to find something you think they'll like!

  2. My brother (66) and I (58) live in different states and are planning on a trip combining some time in France and Italy before taking a TA from Rome next fall. We've been trying to figure our travel insurance options -when you fill out the quote info they want to know what state you are from so not sure what to put. He also will need more medical coverage since he is retired and on Medicare and VA which won't cover out of US claims while I work and have medical insurance coverage. I'm guessing we need separate policies since our circumstances vary. Any suggestions of how much medical insurance is prudent to get given no big health problems-he's talking 500K which I can't even find offered anywhere!-and seems a bit extreme. I've been looking at Insuremytrip and Squaremouth- any thoughts?

    Thanks

  3. My first solo (I had cruised with friends and family before) was a 15 day circle San Diego-Hawaii cruise and it was heaven! Nobody to answer to but myself, no being responsible for whether anyone else was enjoying themselves, sleeping (or not!), eating where and when I wanted to- I could go on- I still enjoy going with friends and family but don't regret the solo experience one bit and would do it again if that's what I needed to do to go on vacation!

Glad you had a good experience-

PS- envious that you got out of the snow and cold here!
