  1. Loved Empress. Had a huge OV that slept all four of us comfortably. Keep an eye on the compass for a drink card. When we were on her we got ten drinks for $65.00, good for anythings up to $12.00. Also, they had an AWESOME brunch on one of the sea days! Also, if you have thoughts of using the shower at the gym, there is no shower at the gym.

  2. We are sailing on Oasis 9/16, flying in the day before. We decided to stay overnight in Port Canveral. Transportation was an issue and seemed like a hassle. I decided on a one way rental from Alamo for $45 which includes tax. Picking the car up at MCO and drop off by the port the next day. The plan is to drop off baggage at the port, then return the rental and take the free shuttle back to the ship. Seemed like a good deal to me.

At the Miami port, I dropped my family of three off at the port with the luggage then went back and dropped off the car. I wouldn't do it that way again if I have the choice. The rental agency was near the port but it was a hassle getting back then waiting for the van to fill up.

  3. We were on Freedom over Christmas. Two days into the cruise, my wife and one of my daughters developed a cough. By the third day, their coughs were getting worse, so we bought a bottle of NyQuil cough syrup in one of the ships stores. We were charged $17.99!! After we got home, I sent the following email:

    Aurora Yera-Rodriguez

    Director, Guest Experience

    1050 Caribbean Way

    Dear Ms. Yera-Rodriguez,

I recently cruised on Freedom on Freedom of the Seas with my wife and two adult daughters. This was our eleventh cruise with Royal Caribbean, and like every other cruise we've had with your company, we had a wonderful time. As always, the staff, entertainment, food and beverages were just what we've come to expect from Royal Caribbean.

There is one issue though that I feel needs to be brought to your attention, and as the Director of Guest Experience, I hope you are the person to address. Two days into the cruise, my wife and one of my daughters began to develop a cough. By the third day their coughs were getting worse, so we purchased a bottle of NyQuil cough syrup from the general store on board the ship. The cost of the medicine was $17.99. That is more than twice what I would pay at a store at home.

Ms. Yera-Rodriguez, this is plain and simple price gouging. It's hard enough trying to keep from spreading and/or catching germs on a cruise ship Pricing a medication so high could and probably has kept passengers from making the needed purchase, which in turn could cause more passengers and crew to get sick.

There are some great deals to be found in the shops on board, and we've made purchases in the past. However, this kind of a cost mark-up for a medication is like rubbing salt in the wound of a person who is sick. Please consider reducing the cost of medications on your fleet.

    Thank you for your time.

The next day we received a call, thanking us for bringing the issue to their attention. We were told that prices for those types of items are set by an outside company, that they did some research and agreed that $17.99 was an outrageous price, and that we would get a $17.99 credit to our credit card.

Just wanted to share my pleasant experience with RCCl.

Q: Does Royal Caribbean charge a corkage fee?

    A:

No. Guests wishing to bring personal wine and champagne onboard may do so only on boarding day, limited to two (2) 750 ml bottles per stateroom. No beer or hard liquor may be brought onboard for consumption.

Additional bottles of wine beyond two (2) bottles that are brought onboard or any alcoholic beverages purchased in ports of call or from onboard shops during the cruise vacation will be stored onboard and delivered to guest staterooms on the last day of the sailing.

  5.

That description makes it sound like you have less of a choice. They don't mention appetizers or pasta just the amuse bouche. And no desserts just the petits fours. The lobster foes sound like it is included as one of the entree choices.

For $75 I would go twice on the non holiday nights and go to the MDR or even WJ on the holiday.

    The whole menu is available.

  6. I have been on several Christmas cruises and have never had to pay more in the specialty restaurants - and I always made reservations for Christmas day in one of the two... I wonder when they started that? where are you getting those prices?[/QU

This is what shows up when you go to reserve on line.

    OVERVIEW

Ring in the holiday at Giovanni's Table with a merry mouthwatering fine-dining experience. Toast friends and family with a glass of champagne and an amuse-bouche. Then enjoy one of our signature main courses from the full menu of traditional Italian cuisine or a special holiday lobster tail. The meal is complete with a selection of petits fours - making your holiday a Specialty one.

  7. Thanks for your great review. We are going to be on AOS Oct. 31 with a different itinerary. I was surprised to read that a pool party/midnight buffet was planned. I thought RCL dtopped all midnight buffets.

We are planning to stay at the Condado Plaza Hilton. Does anyone know anything about this hotel?

They offered the late night buffet just the one night.
