  1. We are wavering between taking the transfer (quoted at $68pp each way) from Victoria Coach or taking the train from Waterloo to Southampton and grabbing a cab to the pier.  Also considering taking the train back to London and then the tube back to LHR as our flight doesn’t leave until 4:30 that afternoon and I don’t particularly fancy sitting in Heathrow of six or more hours (also don’t want to do a ShorEx). Anyone have any experience taking the train/tube?  And, in general, what time would the transfer leave the port for LHR?  Thank you for any input.

  2. SHIP: Silhouette

    CABIN #: 7108

    DECK #: 7

    CLASS: Family Veranda

AREA: Very front of ship with two forward facing windows

BED NEAR: Separate room with forward facing window

QUIET?: Very noisy when docking and you can hear and feel the banging of the bow on certain waves when traveling above about 16 knots

    BALCONY VIEW: Starboard

BALCONY SIZE: Smallish with some obstruction

WIND A PROBLEM?: You can hear it at times but that is the same on any ship. Depends on the wind's direction.

    SOOT A PROBLEM?: Nope

PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: This cabin cannot be beat if you have a family. Especially if your 2 year old won't sleep if he can still see you. Little brat. :-) This provides the kids with a private place to sleep (or the parents a private place to nap) while allowing the rest of the family to relax, watch TV, read, go on the balcony etc., without disturbing each other. The 575 sq. ft. is great!! On the Silhouette, they had a nice 4-seat table so if you ordered room service for breakfast or dinner, you could all comfortably sit and eat. If there are more than two of you and you can afford this, the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

  3. We are doing a B2B in a couple of weeks. We'll get off the Allure and then on to the Silhouette. We'd like to head to a grocery store between cruises. Is there one within walking distance (15 minutes or so) of the port or will we need to cab it?

    Thanks,

    Ken

  4. Okay, this seems to be the "go to" thread for all info FLL. Doing B2B cruises Jan/Feb (Allure then Silhouette). Staying at Sheraton Beach before the Allure. Need to get from hotel to port and would like to walk if possible but the issue we have is our two year old son. Pushing a stroller and rolling three bags would be less than ideal though we could do it if needed.

So, here is the main question: Are two year olds required to use a car seat in a taxi? I know in a private car they are but I cannot find an answer to this question online and I cannot justify dragging a car seat for what is a 10 minute drive. Would hate to book a sedan for that short of a trip but will if I need to do so in order to have a car seat.

We'll walk from one pier to the other going from Allure to Silhouette. Not too concerned about that. Already have airport transfers covered by various methods. It's just this leg of the journey that is a concern.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ken
