Thanks, SailorJM! I will check them out.

Thanks, Strenz. This may be a blasphemous question to ask on the Windstar forum, but is there another similar cruise line that travels to the Caribbean in May?
-
I want to book a Caribbean cruise in late April or May of 2017. I noticed that the San Juan and Virgin Islands cruise has a departure date of 01 Apr 2017, but nothing later.
Does this mean that will be the last cruise of the year to those islands? Or does it mean Windstar simply hasn't posted more dates yet.

The OP is asking about the Tahiti cruise. We took this cruise in June and the sports platform was available every day except the day we were in port at Raiatea. There were rafts to float on (can't remember if they were big enough for two) and you could snorkel. I believe you could paddle board too. They even let a guy ski!

I went on this cruise in June and realized in the LA airport that I had forgotten to bring the boarding pass that Windstar had mailed me. It was not a problem....they didn't even ask for it. I simply handed them my passport.

It was wonderful! It was my first Windstar cruise and I will never go back to the giant cruise lines. You cannot compare the experience - they are like apples and oranges to me. The staff was so friendly and attentive and the food was far superior to the mega-cruise food.
Also, it was nice that the excursions involved small groups.

I just returned from this cruise and embarkation was at 1pm.

Can anyone give me an idea what to expect from the exercise room on the Wind Spirit? I'm sure it will be small, but if anyone has information as to the type of equipment available, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

It appears you can add gratuity to your credit card at the end, correct? If we tip some in cash would XPF be okay? (We'll be on the Tahitian cruise.) Or is US currency preferred if going the cash route.

Hi all,
We will be taking a cab from the airport in Papeete to the Manava hotel and I was wondering if taxis accept credit cards for payment. Also, what would be an appropriate tip?
Thanks!

We're going on an excursion with Lagoon Services while docked in Bora Bora and while they provide snorkels/masks, they do not provide flippers. Does anyone know if we will be able to borrow them from the Wind Spirit for our outing?
-
Does anyone know how far Bloody Mary's is from where the Wind Spirit anchors in Bora Bora?
-
Thanks for the information! I think we will be okay. :)

I've read a few threads that have me concerned over the availability of the swim platform. I planned on only scheduling 1/2 day excursions so that I could also spend time using the swim platform, but it looks like it may not be useable a large portion of the time.
Can anyone give me an idea of what I might expect in Tahiti in terms of being able to just jump off the boat when I want to swim? Also, does anyone know if the ship is equipped with stand up paddle boards? I checked their website, but can't tell what "toys" are available for use.

Ridethetide, I've learned that you are right....no transfer for us via Windstar because we're not staying at Le Meridien. Thanks for your reply!

Hi all,
The Active Hike and Guided Tour of Coconut Trail on Moorea is described by Windstar's website as "very strenuous" in terms of activity level. Has anyone gone on this hike? I'm trying to determine if it's as strenuous as they describe.
Thanks!

Hi all,
We will be cruising on the Wind Spirit 19Jun-26Jun (Tahiti) and have tacked on a day pre- and post-cruise. Does anyone know how much Windstar charges to take you from the airport to your hotel? We'll be staying at the Manava and I'm trying to figure out if we should take a cab or have Windstar transport us. I have no idea how much each option would cost. (I checked Windstar's website and can't find this information.)
Thanks!

Thanks, 6rugrats. Everything you said makes perfect sense, but hadn't occurred to me. I made our reservations yesterday! We're flying from the East Coast and the tickets were about 2100.00 each. On the bright side, we snagged emergency row seats on the LA to PPT leg (and coming back). :)

Hi all,
We are taking the Tahitian cruise on the Wind Spirit on 19 June. Does anyone have advice on when we should book airfare? Prices seem to have jumped since I checked them a couple of weeks ago. I thought they might actually drop since I think of June as low season in Tahiti....I may be mistaken about that.

Never mind! I found the answers to my questions in older threads. :o

I see the price for the drink package is 108.00/day per cabin. Can someone confirm that that means 108.00/day per person? ie, 216.00/day total.
Also, I took a peak at the wine list, but I don't see prices by the glass. Also, does anyone have an idea of what cocktail prices run?
Thanks!

I've read in another post to avoid cabins 102 and 101, but can anyone give me some basic information on cabin selection in general? Since there are only two decks, I'm not sure it matters much but would appreciate any advice. Front of the boat, rear, middle???

Hi all,
I see that Windstar offers an Air + Hotel Package (see link below). I see the flight is from LAX to Tahiti; however, we are on the East Coast and would have to factor that flight in. I'd appreciate any advice on whether the package is something that is worthwhile or if we'd be better off booking flights and the hotel ourselves (we're building in a day on the front and end of the trip).
Cruises to the Caribbean after April?

I hate to thread jack, but I can't figure out how to send you a PM SailorJM.
I've been checking out Island Windjammers and it's hard for me to tell how much room on deck there is for lounging. I assume it's much smaller than Windstar, but is there space for everyone to hang out on deck?
