  1. Would love to know if anyone can verify if the casino is there at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. I read it closed and I was just on their website and do not see anything posted about a casino coming back. We are cruising soon and loved how it was right across the street from the cruise ship.

  2. We sailed reflection a couple of years ago and spent a decent amount of time in the casino. I won on several slots and broke even for the week. Had a lot of fun. Thought the casino was decent in size. During the day it did not feel crowded. Liked that they had some less expensive penny slots. Some cruises the minimum penny slot is 40-50 cents. On Reflection you could play 9-10c a spin on a few machines. Bar service was fast if you went up to the bar to get a drink. The bartender even remembered us and what we like to drink.---Sailed the Regal Princess and their casino was small and crowded. Got stuck at a machine, could not pull my chair back to get out once.

  3. LOVE THIS POST!!! Anticipation of the cruise is almost as good as the cruise itself. Love reading cruise critic and going to You Tube to watch videos.

Best cruise moment for me-First full day of cruise was at the cruises private island. My husband and I were in the water, just floating on our stomachs, head in the water, listening to the sounds of the ocean. It was sooooo relaxing, especially because I knew we still had the rest of the week to relax.

  4. It was nice having drink package and yes I was able to get almost everything I wanted except martini but I was somewhat disappointed that there were no menus. I enjoy looking over the variety of tropical drinks and trying new things. I assume you could always ask the bartender for suggestions in lieu of menu.

  5. When we sailed the Reflection, one of the outdoor pools was significantly warmer then the other outdoor pool. Would not say it was heated but definitely warmer. Most people gravitated to this pool. Indoor pool was not heated but since it was indoors it was warm enough to enjoy.

  6. By the time we land at the airport for our cruise, we are always eager to get to the ship and start boarding. I found taking a taxi the fastest way to get there. We have had the pre paid transfers and always ended up waiting for other passengers to arrive before the shuttle would get going on its way. There is a flat rate for taxis which is nice so you know you will not get "long hauled" and overcharged. Either way, have a great trip--getting there is half the fun

  7. When we sailed with a drink package, I had the same concerns you had about wanting drinks in my room. Whenever I was leaving a venue, I would bring unopened cans of soda and beer back to the room . We drank so much in the public areas that I never really wanted much to drink when in the room so what I brought back was perfect. It is not too expensive to order a mini bar set up-I think around 80 dollars if you want that added convenience.

  8. Do you know how much the other specialty restaurants were discounted on the first night. Thanks for posting daily. I am going to enjoy your cruise along with you. It will give me a reason to tune in to cruise critic every day. Please enjoy a smoothie from the aqua spa cafe in the solarium for me. I had great luck in the casino also when on Reflection but gave it all back during the week. Hope you enjoy the trip.

  9. I am always super excited and eager to board the ship as early as possible but we have learned that if you show up later around 2 or 3 you can sometimes avoid waiting in the frustrating long lines. Your cabin should be ready by then and you can drop off carry on luggage instead of dragging it with you around ship. We try to avoid the buffet for lunch on embarkation-it can be a madhouse. Once aboard we grab a drink and walk around the ship-starting at the top and walk across each deck heading downward. We like to scope out the entire ship on day 1 so that we can plan for the week. I hate discovering something about the ship at the end of our trip when it is too late to enjoy it. We also pack our swim suits in our carry on just in case we decide to take a swim. ---In general if we can avoid the long lines at embarkation we get into vacation mode quicker because we don't feel that frustration of waiting in line. No matter what just enjoy-I would rather be in a line waiting to go on a cruise then the lines at the DMV

  10. I was a little disappointed that many bars did not have menus displayed showing the variety of drinks and prices. If in doubt, just ask the waiter or bartender if the drink you want is included. I have heard lots of people say they have been able to get daquiris etc in the drink package. I considered upgrading to premium but was satisfied with classic. I gravitate to light beef, and classic drinks like gin and tonic. I just love that coffees and smoothies and bottled water are included too. Celebrity is smart in that the popular drinks such as craft beer and martinis are not included. There are many people who have really want these drinks and are willing to pay extra. Hope you enjoy.

  11. Have you booked a balcony or inside cabin. We order coffee and light breakfast each morning and enjoy it on our balcony. Room service is free. Highly recommend a beverage package. We had basic alcohol package and it was great to get a bottle of water, soft drink, smoothie or alcoholic beverage anytime. If I paid for every drink I had I would have more then exceeded the cost of bev. package. I always took bottle of water with me off ship. The Aqua Spa cafe in the solarium has fresh smoothies that are included in the beverage packages, yummie. Also cafe al bacio has great coffee included in package. The library, midship serves coffee for free and we often went there for a quick cup. --You must check out Sunset Bar. Nice music at sailaways, very quiet and intimate at night. Have a great cruise

  12. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. My husband and I want to do something different on our next cruise and Qsine sounds like fun, even though I understand it isn't gourmet quality food. Love all the pictures. I now know I have to try the meatballs, filet mignon and tacos. Not sure what else we will try. I am going to take your advice and at least ask for small portions but I will not feel bad if we don't eat anything. Celebrity should learn to modify portions if they do not want waste.

  13. Thank you for the review. I particularly enjoyed the pictures of the food and drinks. We are sailing a second time on Reflection in March and cannot wait. Half the fun of vacationing is the anticipation. I agree with other folks, cruising is what you make out of it. If you want to enjoy it you will, if you want to find fault with things then that only deters from your enjoyment. There is something for everyone on a cruise.--My favorite place was a morning swim in the solarium, followed by a smoothie, lounging on our balcony in the afternoon and sunset bar after dark. Thanks again

  14. My husband and I want to eat at Qsine on the Reflection. It will just be the two of us. Worried about ordering too much or getting full on big portions. Does anyone have pictures of the food they serve-or know a link to see pictures on CC? When you eat there, do you order all your food at once or can you order 1-2 items, eat them and then order more? What items are big and which ones are light or small in size. Any feedback appreciated

  15. We had our drink package as a "free" perk when we booked our cruise. We did tip the bartenders a buck or so, especially if they served us at a table. When we were served from the bar, I would tip them every so often. I know it wasn't required but I am sure it was appreciated. We did make the most of the drink package. LOL we did run out of dollar bills quickly.

  16. In addition to having numerous alcoholic drinks I took advantage of the non alcoholic ones. There is a small cafe located within the enclosed pool that sells smoothies. I had one every day after breakfast. Also would go to cafe Bacio in the lobby for coffee every morning. I also made sure to get bottles of water to drink when going off ship. I never hesitated to get a can of soda or bottle of beer, left it unopened and brought it back to room to drink on the balcony.

  17. I have read a lot about how slot machines work and agree with the myth buster descriptions in this post. The machines are programmed for the casino to make a profit. There is no need for them to change the percentage payout from day to day. It just seems like machines may be paying out more because it is all random and sometimes it will pay out a lot in one day and other times it will not. Overall slots are a bad risk for gamblers. We are likely to lose more then we win--I play to have fun and be entertained. Winning is a bonus.
