When was your last fix and on which cruise ship?

About 6 years ago, we did a singapore to HK cruise on RH and visited SV. In my blog, I wrote about the port. There are links to photos with a map, I think. There are a few things you can do…..go to the beach or go visit a "home/orphanage" (they do great works there) or if time permit (overnight) go visit Angkor Wat (one of the bucket list)……anyway, go with an open mind…

After Singapore, Mariner will be up in Shanghai.
Quantum is testing its hardware and will come out East in mid-year, and head up to Shanghai from Singapore.
Legend is coming back to the East….

On the second cruise of the season to Alaska, Star Princess did one of these turn around at Victoria, B.C. What Capt Todd McBain did then was to lower a tender to take the evacuee ashore, then turn around to pick up the tender. Maybe this was what happened….
-
Just back from Star Princess. They are "experimenting & testing" a new speciality restaurant called the "Crab Shack".
See my blog below on on food in the main dining room (Almalfi) on our 12 night cruise..
-
Take the shuttle right up to visitor centre.. it is now 10 USD (was 7 USD 4 years ago). See my blog on our May trip…

Hi Tom,
Great to have met you on the Star Princess to Alaska recently. I have written about the cruise, especially the food and meals. See my blog in link below..
continue to update us with your great photos and info...

Check with RC to ensure you are tendering……then you will be at Patong…..so you will be at the Northern end (known as Kalim beach), otherwise you will be at the Southern end of the bay…..
We once (Legend of the Seas) was docked at the Deep Sea Port, which is more for the Star line……..
-
For wide bay,
since you are in Singapore a lot……have you tried "Pulau Ubin" and Chek Java ? It is a hidden gem (and you can cycle on the island)…… :)
-
Not to forget…..FOOD …..Singapore is fantastic for food……
from 2 Michelin stars to 2 US$ meals !!!
check out my blog…….

A Singaporean jumping in with a quick comment….
Theres so much on the web that you can search on Singapore tourist attractions…Garden by the Bay, Botanic Gardens' orchid enclosure (if you like plants), the zoo (not necessarily the night safari), the bird park, (if flora is your interest), Chinatown, little India, Arab Street (if you like a taste of those countries,,,,transport is easy (MRT i.e. underground, tube, train….or taxis (cheap & efficend….also HOHO for tourists….)……go to one of the housing estates e.g. Tiong Bahru, Bugis, etc to see how the locals live/shop/eat…..Raffles Hotel, Chijmes, Fort Canning, (if into history)….Clark Quay & the river for night entertainment,,,,,,Orchard Road for shopping and malling……etc……..
Depends on your interest and time you have…….For cruisers (pre or post) with only 2-3 days….you've got to pick and choose………enjoy……
Must thank the Australians and americans for "selling" Siingapore to the cruisers………not spell/checking this …..so pardon the typing…….
-
The hotel is standard intercom and quite neat…
You will be in the thick of things viz local shopping, traffic (although ok inside the hotel), and close to wherever you want to go…..there's a MRT (tube) station close by and lots of activites……should be ok if you are not in for "peace and quiet….."

Thanks guys for all the memories of this Celebrity's ship.
Happy sailing...

Just returned from a cruise up the Malacca Straits and remembered the ship Galileo Galilei which became the S.S.Meridian and which sunk as the Sun Vista. Anybody remembers the S.S.Meridian of Celebrity?

Mariner of the Seas --- November 2013.....
still using booklets.........
Not easy going "paperless" .......I'm still writing on paper and post-its

In 2008, on our Singapore to HongKong cruise, we stayed on board instead of doing HoiAn or Hue --- because we have done both on land....
http://daddytravel.blogspot.sg/2008/02/2005-july-danang-hoian-hue-in-vietnam.html
If you love quaint, art, silk, etc....go do Hoi An -- everyone whose been there loved it
If you are into history....Hue is interesting.......
Enjoy Asia, before it becomes too "touristy".........
-
Watch the weather...if it rains, go to the "flower dome" or the "rainforest conservtory" at Marina Bay (that's near the new cruise terminal, which you are NOT at)....they are enclosed. if it's not raining, catch a cab/taxi (reasonable cost and efficeint, about 10 bucks) from the Harbour Front cruise terminal to the Botanical Gardens and make sure you go into the Orchid enclosure (a small entry charge..2 bucks, I think)......enjoy your stay....and when you return to your cruise terminal, remember to tell the taxi driver which cruise terminal you are heading to i.e. Marina Bay or Harbour Front....enjoy Indonesia
........
-
As a resident Singaporean --- just take a cab/taxi....they are reasonable (cheap) and good (efficient, clean) to your hotel or the cruise centre (specify the Marina South one (unless you are on Star cruises which is at Harbour Front)...
