  1. Wish there would have been an email regarding this option. I am only finding out about it today....on the last available booking day. Humpf. We have a lot of $ tied up with them....and there is an even longer story about them charging us double and the headache and 6 months it took to straighten that out!....(although, never 100% fixed!) We went with booking the last possible cruise in 22 to Australia....hoping it all works out in the end......but would rather have had our money back for now.

I'm not sure about deposit refunds but I'm still waiting for full refund and excursion refund ... 113 days now. Not sure if anything takes priority at the moment?

My TA put my final payment on the wrong card (Mar 11). So she called NCL the same day and had them put final payment on the correct card. However, we were charged for this cruise on BOTH cards ($6616 on both cards). We were told that the wrong card charge would be reversed in 7-10 days. It has now been 130 days, we have had to put in two claims with our credit card (two have been denied, we are now on claim #3). I'm furious that what should have been an easy fix, has turned into this fight to make things right!

  3. Yes, I knew that was the deal, but what I didn't know until I did my chat with an agent is that if your base fare is LESS then you do not get any of that credit back. I also thought that I could apply my 25% bonus FCC towards the base fare of both fares, but it only gets applied to the bonus holder's fare. These are specifics that I had not previously seen discussed that I felt was important information to get out there!

  4. Sorry, I get impatient sometimes.

Just chatted with NCL again. The answer is if your cruise that has been booked with Bonus FCC gets cancelled by NCL or you under Peace of Mind, the Bonus gets reinstated.

Maybe all of this info is out there. But I wanted all of the info I have gotten from the Agent in one email for anyone else looking for the answers to the same questions I had. Searching for the answers to all the various details can be tedious!

  5. Ok, if anyone knows this answer, I would appreciate it. I had to bug the NCL agent again.

If your cruise with the Bonus FCC applied gets cancelled do they reinstate the bonus fare or do you loose it? Since according to the agent it is like a coupon that reduces the rate of your fare. We had planned to use it for our Dec Australia cruise.....but Dec cruises seem iffy. I don't want to loose that amount if we get cancelled.

  6. So my TA sent me a message saying I had to apply my FCC to my Dec cruise first and then use left over to pay for my March 21. It didn't make sense to me, and my TA didn't answer my call or email requesting clarification. I just did a chat with an NCL agent and this clears things up so much better:

(NCL AGENT) The only FCC that can be split between to reservations is the 100%. The 25% coupon can not be split between reservations. So maybe that is where the TA is coming from.

But yes, if you have money left from the 100% coupon you can apply that towards another sailing.

(ME paraphrasing INFO) The 100% FCC (the monies you actually paid for the cancelled cruise) can be applied towards Shore Excursions (call the number to make those reservations) and can pay for service charges- said to have my TA add it to my invoice to apply it.

(NCL) It comes off of the voyage fare price, it is more like a discount as it is not applied as a payment towards the total price.

(Me Paraphrase)  The question was could I use MY BONUS FCC to pay for the base fare on my Mar cruise and use the difference to pay towards my husband's fare and the answer is NO. The Bonus credit is applied to only that person's portion.

I asked the agent if the system alerts you to the fact that you could be loosing some of your Bonus FCC and she apologized and said no. So I want everyone out there to know that. When you book with BONUS FCC your base fare has to be equal (or more) to maximize Bonus usage. You can not use partial  and receive partial credit back. So if your next cruise doesn't use all of your bonus towards the base fare, you can always upgrade your room....or book a longer, more expensive room.

  8. Absolutely... I even split a 1 cruise FCC between 2 Future Cruises.  No worries at all, very simple.

I need your expertise. I have a Dec 2020 Australia cruise and a March 21 Bahama cruise. My TA just sent me this message and I don’t understand what the issue is. We planned to use the Bonus credit towards the March cruise, (there will be $600 left over) and then apply the left over to Dec cruise. She is saying we have to apply to Dec first. We want to apply it to March, because that sailing is more likely to happen and therefore we could either take the refund on Dec or we would get more FCC bonus if Dec gets cancelled.
Does anyone know why my TA would say this? She has not been helpful with explaining or answering questions. I really need a new TA.3f3aaa2f1930a01e9e6fd0c7ed3b6ce1.jpg

We applied ours to the fare, fees, gratuities, daily service charge.  When excursions are available, we will call to book and use the remaining FCC on them. Plus we have the $50 per port excursion credit and an onboard credit that was the promo when we re-booked.

Can you tell me how to apply the FCC to my daily service fee? I do not see how to do it on line.

    Thanks!

I just used some of our FCC for an excursion. I had to call the Shore Excursions directly and told them I wanted to pay with my credit. No problem.

Thank you for posting this. I was just looking for this answer!

How can I pre-pay the service charge with FCC? I clicked on the pre-pay but it does not give me an option to use FCC for the payment.

  11. Two of our cruises were cancelled. We now have $1700 bonus FCC- which can only be used towards fare. That I get.

What I can't seem to find info on is how I can use my 100% FCC.

My plan was to try and use ALL of it to cover two more cruises.....and shore excursions and the service charge.

However, when I tried to book some of these items with an already made reservation, it does not give me an option to use FCC to pay.

Can I use my 100% FCC to pay for the port fees and service charges? Can I use it for shore excursions?

Or can I truly only use it for base fare? If that is the case, then I will not be able to use all of my FCC and I will instead request a refund on our just cancelled cruise.

Has anyone else already booked with FCC know the answers to these questions? I don't want to make the wrong move by going FCC only to not be able to use it in the manner that I need, so that I am not forking out hundreds more $$$.

    Thanks.

I got my letter today. I’m a bit disappointed with what it said. They are giving us the 125% based on our fare paid, they say is a total of $3433. However, my documents show our base fare of $2229 each. There is no mention on what they are doing with our taxes, airfare and other charges. We paid a total of $6866.16 and they are only addressing $3433?
    Makes me anxious!

I just realized, as I was doing my calculations, this is exactly half of what we paid for the cruise. The letter was only addressing MY portion of the cruise and not my Husband's portion.  All is good in the world again!

That was not what I received - but maybe it has changed since the first round of cancellations (My cruise was scheduled to embark April 8.  I received 100% FCC of what I had paid, which included base fare, taxes/fees, prepaid service charge, and free-at-sea gratuities.  Then I received a "bonus" FCC equal to 25% of that inclusive amount.  I had not prepaid any excursions, so I don't have personal experience with how those were handled, but I did see reports that if you had prepaid excursions, they were handled the same way (100% + 25% bonus).  Between the 25% bonus, and the 20% discount, I was able to book 2 cruises for the price I had paid for one.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking - the 25% bonus gets applied first (to base fare).  then the 100% FCC gets applied - any left over FCC can be applied to another cruise, or (as stated in the FAQ) used to prepay for excursions and such.  Does that answer your question?

Yes, that explains it clearly for me. Thank you!

  15. On March 11th, (2 days  before the poop hit the fan) my TA accidently charged the wrong (Celebrity) credit card for our final payment for our July cruise. I notified her immediately about the charge error. She contacted NCL and they immediately put the charge (Close to $7000) on our NCL card. It took them 87 days to reverse the charge on the wrong card....and actually, I think it was the claim I made with my card company that went thru as a temporary reverse, that would be permanent unless contested by NCL, that made the reverse finally happen. I think it had nothing to do with NCL's processing! . 87 days to have an extra $7,000 balance. My credit score sank 41 points!

I am just grateful that I finally got the amount reversed!

  16. My TA said that we can request a refund on taxes and fees. She also said that the only portion that gets the 125% FCC is the base fare. If that is the case, then I can't see letting NCL hang on to the additional funds. If I am not getting the extra 25%, then I would rather have that money back!

However, my TA has also said that FCC can't be applied to the service charge or travel insurance and I have seen others post official looking items that state that they can be used for those items. I'm not confident that my TA really knows all of the ins and outs of the FCC. Anyone else have varying info from their TA?

  17. My TA told me that I can ask for FCC on the base rate and ask for a refund on the taxes and fees. I think I might go that route. She also said that the 125% FCC is ONLY on the base rate and not the all inclusive total. So, if that is true, then there would be no reason to let them keep ALL of my money.

Of course, my TA has had some different answers than what I have seen on CC. She said that FCC can't be used towards gratuities or travel insurance. (?) and yet I have seen people post here that they can use FCC towards those items.

  18. I looked up my Australia-New Zealand cruise and this fare didn’t include airfare. When I went to my calculator and added what I paid for air and transfers, it really wasn’t a higher savings than my current rate at the current sale going on.
