Honestly I was thinking of booking a mini suite, but it was an extra $200 bucks for about 30 sqft more space, so we decided against it. I personally also enjoy the smaller ships more as well, which is why we booked so quickly only to find out that we misread. We also have the dining and drinking package. I ask about the wifi because I bought unlimited package for an extra $210 because I like staying connected, when I have the package and an iPhone in my pocket I feel less phantom buzzes.

Is there anything you'd expressly recommend trying no matter what?

Dear Sir or Madame we just got off the joy last week we really enjoyed the observation and the best it had great food Starbucks and a bar what we didn’t enjoy very much were the dinners breakfast and lunch were great salads and soups were wonderful but every dinner meal we had with it was the paid ones or the free ones we didn’t like very muchWhat we failed to remember that has nothing to do with Norwegian joy is that this particular cruise for the first two days down are very cold in the last two days coming back up of course it  was  very cold so it’s just the warm beautiful weather in Mexico for three days so be prepared for a very crowded situations on the first two days in the last two days

From what I understand, it's being rolled out gradually to the fleet, not something that requires a dry dock.  Basically, it's a different recipe with better (i.e. fresher) ingredients.

I don't think there is a list online that you'll find as to which ships have it but when you stop by Sorrento's, there will be a sign touting the new recipe.

I would think that Harmony - being one of the newer, top-of-the-line ships - would have the better pizza. I'm sure some recent Harmony cruisers can confirm.

    How about the OASIS???

Hi, Hate to bother while you are sailing but did you embark in Rome? or would happen to known they allowed the rome folks to board and important what time Muster was?  I have seen the posted cruise planners and no mention of Muster times.. Thanks!

We have done this embarkation from Rome twice before

July will be our third time,

    They call this inter porting,

When  you get to the port in civitivecchia it will be empty!

I am not kidding there were four of us getting on at 10 am it was so great no  crowds!

About an hour after departure there will be an announcement that people boarding from Rome will have Muster Drill just like in Barcelona but so much smaller.

it is a great way to go

    Have Fun

  4. Per my phone call to RCCL boarding for Platinum and up will begin at 2pm. Rest will start at 2:30pm. We are sailing out of Civi on 6/21. If I had to guess you likely be able to get on before that...but that is just based on my experience at all other embarcations I have experienced with RCCL.

We just did this cruise two weeks ago.

When we arrived at the port in Rome or Civitavecchia

We seriously were the only people there at 11 am

    You board whenever you want

  5. I'm so looking forward to this! We're on a B2B on Symphony in August and I'm very interested in how they handle the turnaround day for those cruisers. Are you planning on doing any speciality restaurants? If you're able to get copies of the cruise compass and kids club sheets that would be fantastic. Happy holidays! XX

We just got off the Symphony

This is what we experienced, the Rome people will get orange cards regardless of your status and Barcelona people will get blue

The turn overs are seamless there are two muster drills if you are orange cards you go when you embark and if blue you will have a muster drill.when you embark

Otherwise the ship works the same

  6. Not long back from a cruise on Navigator of the Seas to and from Southampton.

Having resigned ourselves to avoiding the casino and anywhere near it, we were delightfully surprised to discover on boarding that the casino was smoke free for our voyage, and that the only indoor smoking venue was the connoisseur club.

There had been no notification beforehand, and the useful information sheet given on boarding didn't even agree with what appeared in the Compass.

We have come back with a very favourable impression of RCCL but before booking another cruise with them, I need to be assured that there will be a similarly pleasant experience on board their other ships.

Having contacted the cruise line beforehand to confirm which side smoking was allowed on the promenade deck, and being told the opposite of what we found on board, I am not confident that I will be given correct information.

Any suggestions from anyone on here as to how to find out what is going on?[/quote

We are on the Symphony right now

Can confirm the casino is most definitely the Indoor Smoking Section

    Yuk it really reeks badly

  7. This summer Symphony of the Seas has two embarkation/disembarkation ports, Barcelona and Rome. Can anyone who has ever taken this type of cruise tell me if that changes the atmosphere of the ship? What is this type of cruise called? I've only been on cruises where all passengers embark and disembark on the same day.

How does it work when my first night of the cruise is someone else's third or fourth night?

    Thank you :D

We have done in supporting several times and really enjoy it you don’t have the hustle and bustle of the first day or the last day which always is crazy other than that everything is the same you feel kind of weird getting on in Rome when everyone else is got none in Barcelona on the other hand When most of the shift is running around getting off in Barcelona you’re just relaxing

  8. I totally agree, I choose Royal for their party games especially quest and gutted they’re not doing it. Shouldn’t matter what they’re clientele is.

    Dear Ned

Sorry to say but the last three times we cruised the Med we found that there were not any of these games

We asked why and received the same answer to our inquiry They told us it was because of so many non English speakers,I agree with you but that is what we experienced

We will be on the June sailing on Symphony I will let you know if any has changed

  9. Harmony interported in the med last year - we embarked in Rome but the main embarkation port was Barcelona. Freedom is doing the same itinerary this year but I am not sure if she is interporting - as far as I know harmony was the only RCCL ship doing this in the med last year.

Yes exactly what we did but cannot find any cruises on Freedom that embark anywhere but Barcelona

The smaller ships leave from Rome but not Freedom

  10. That's the part i am wondering about. How are they gonna work that?

Your sea pass card will have a colored sticker on it representing which port you embarked on.There will be an announcement saying all passengers embarking today please go to the Muster station really not a big deal!

  11. Thanks emerald444... we are on the July 31 out of Barcelona. I was wondering how it works on debarkation days. For example, when we stop in Civitavecchia... we are there for a port visit while others are disembarking after their full cruise... Who get off first? Or is it all at once? I imagine the trains and buses would be filled with people and luggage.

In my experience those in Rome leave very early so after that things settle down and it's easier for you who have excursions can get off without too much trouble.

Now that being said it is the port of Rome or Cittavecheccia so it's always crazy just be prepared and I'm sure you've heard this before

HANG ON TO ALL OF YOUR VALUBLES HUMAN AND BAGGAGE!!!

  12. Interporting, as it's known, is used more in Europe, especially the Med.

Costa & MSC do 7 day cruises with embarkation in EVERY port. Most passengers get on at the main embarkation ports (Barcelona, Rome, Genoa etc) but a few get on at every port. Lots of Muster drills!

We have sailed in the med cruises for years. We have been on Navigator Liberty and Allure, and all of these ships have had interporting.

It actually is quite nice not having everyone getting on and off at the same time.

It does not affect the entertainment at all.

In fact it makes everything much calmer

  13. I'm sorry she doesn't like tendering - I can understand it may make some people uncomfortable. It can be rough or calm, obviously, depending on the seas and the weather. Our experience was pleasant, filled with excitement as we realized we were on the European cruise of a lifetime. :D

Villefranche is a lovely little seaside town. Tell her the gorgeous perfumed soaps she will find in town are worth the tender! ;):)

It was a beautiful smooth five minute ride to the French coast so don't worry about a thing I don't like tendering either but last time they used private boats not tenders from the ship

Take pictures of the ship as you sail away gorgeous
