  1. Im not sure if they were trying them out and thinking about it or what. They did have the ticketed princess meets and Anna and Elsa meets.

Have a wonderful time, we loved it!

We sailed about a month ago and by then they had stopped them.

The Port Adventures desk (where you sign up for ticketed events) reported to me that it was a trial thing. I was bummed and told her we would have loved to do it...so bring it back for future cruises. LOL

Hopefully by the time you go they will decide on bring it on full time!

  2. My family of three - mom, dad, and teen (15) - will be sailing on the Fantasy, with stops in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. For those who have cruised to these ports before, what were some of your favorite excursions? We are open to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your input.

It was a toss up between Nativeways Sting ray tour in Grand Cayman and Liberty Tours Blue hole in Jamaica. They both were amazing yet so different. Sting ray tour was very vacation like and Jamaica was more of the unseen and off the beaten path type. With Blue hole we saw a lot more of the island and got the feel of Jamaica, it was about the nature of the land where as the stingray was more about the nature of the sea.

  3. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm leaning toward just doing the DCL Rum Point beach excursion for peace of mind. I may still email Native Way to confirm the times of their tours. They have very good reviews on trip advisor.

Nativeways is fantastic. We got back a few weeks ago and used them. With that said the tour you want to do would make me nervous. We just did the small 3 hour snorkel and sting ray one and it filled our day at GC. You have to figure drive time and getting situated etc. The tender alone took us over 1 hour and 15+minutes to get to the island. Lesson learned about getting in line to be the first groups to get off. (we arrived about 20 minutes into the boarding process for tenders) There were several around us who were missing their private tours. Was not happy with DCL at that time. Fortunately for us Nativeways waited for us as we were late.

  4. Any way to know ahead of time what you will be getting?

We had friends that went last month and the pics are beautiful and other family who went literally the following week and it was like a different place. One was tropical looking and the other was something you find locally here by a river canoeing, where one would question jumping in. One family spent hours there and the other a total of about 45 minutes. We have a tour scheduled and it is the most expensive port day due to a private driver. Did anyone else have a backup plan?

  5. We have taken the city mini before. I have not had an umbrella since my first and know they are not for us as they hard to push because we are tall and hold nothing extra. So not sure about those. The city mini fits fine in hallways but is tight when someone is trying to get by. Honestly unless you kid sleeps a lot in them I would not bother using on board. It is just more trouble than it is worth.

It was handy however for getting off the island like at Castaway Cay. It folded up nicely in the closet.

  6. We are a family of 5 and looking at booking private transfers eats up a huge amount, where getting a car is about $100 with full coverage and transfers.

I have read many of the negatives (opposite side and rough roads etc.) but looking for those who have done it. Were you able to do a lot with it. It looks like the road to Mont. Bay or Dunn falls looks fairly new? Did you stick to the main highway A1? Was it worth it? TIA

Honestly we have never done a private transfer or tour on any island. We either rent a car (ST. MAARTEN for example) or ride public busses no one talks about (St Thomas, Nassau etc) or taxi.
