  1. We will be staying at the H.A. McKinley Chalet Resort in late May and will be going on the 6 to 7 hour Toklat Shoulder Season Tour 52 miles into Denali Park. Our H. A. Itinerary indicates we will be departing between 6 am and 7 am. Therefore we should be returning to the Resort between noon and 2 pm +/-.

My question is; as the tour in the park is ending, can you get off the tour bus at the Denali Visitor Center instead of riding it back to the Resort and then using the free shuttle to go back to the Visitor Center?

We are hoping to attend the Denali Park free Dog Sled demo at 2 PM but you must be at the Visitor Center by 1:15 pm to board the shuttle to the demo.

  2. To ensure our family members can reach us during an EMERGENCY we all ways give them the direct ship number. To reach this number the caller must place the call charge on a credit card. In addition to that number we also give them the corporate emergency contact number(s).

For Holland America this information is located on their website under: Already Booked - Shipboard Life - On Board Communications.

  3. DW and I will be staying at the HA Mckinley Chalet Resort pre-cruise. HA's pictures of the Denali Square area show fire pits with marshmallows being grilled. Has anyone noticed if they really do burn the fire pits and if they have rods/sticks and marshmallows?

If they do I plan to sneak in some gluten free graham crackers and chocolate in my luggage for a treat for the DW.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. We booked our first cruise on Carnival for four days from LA to Mexico. Wanting to do it cheap. When we found that two more people in our cabin would bring the price way down per person we invited a couple of friends to share with us. When we boarded they offered us separate cabins, but on a lower deck. We had heard that the lower you were the worse it was, so we said no. How stupid was that?!? So we were four guys in one tiny cabin rather than two each in two cabins for the same price one deck lower. And one guy was sick most of the time.

  5. My DW and I will be in Alaska in May/June 2017 and need help on choosing where we will do an airplane / float plane (no helicopters) excursion from. Locations that we have available are: from Fairbanks flying over Denali; from McKinley Resort flying over Denali; from Skagway; from Juneau; or from Ketchikan. Most of these locations have multiple ship excursions and/or tour providers that we will choose from once we decide what the best location in Alaska to fly from is. Thanks in advance.

Tours of Air Station Sitka are available by appointment only. Please contact the Public Affairs Officer at the above number at least 7 days prior to the requested tour date. Tours are provided on a not to interfere basis, typically Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm.

  7. DW and I are flying from Virginia on a direct flight to Orlando one day pre-cruise, renting a car, driving the hour +/- to Tampa and doing it cheaper than flying to Tampa and about 45 minutes less total time considering the layover we would have had to do in Atlanta or Charlotte. There are several posts about hotels in Tampa near the cruise port and rental car facilities. Another couple is driving to Tampa so we are returning our rental car to the Tampa airport and they are picking us up. Good luck.

  8. If you haven't done so already, join the roll call for your cruise. You will see what other CC passengers are planning for your cruise sailing. Usually this group sets up a "Meet and Greet" of your Roll Call group with the Ships Officers. This gives you a little insight into the operation of the cruise and allows you to add faces to the screen names of those in your Roll Call. Have Fun.

  9. On the Gem this past March they had an assistant waiter who coordinated all special meals for all passengers on board. When my DW, who is Gluten intolerant, arrived at each dining venue for the meal, they would call in the assistant. The assistant then conferred with our waiter to ensure we received the proper pre-planned meal. Later in each meal he would return with the next day's menu for my DW to pick her meal . The assistant also gave us his ship board cell number to call him at anytime we had any questions about what she could and could not eat. Wonderful service.
