  1. I prefer to give the server a cash tip, but on my last cruise I forgot my money in the room. When our drinks were served I asked him if I put the tip on the ticket did he get the money and he said that he did. The next day I pulled the same stunt. I asked a different server the same question and received the same answer. The rest of the cruise I remembered my cash.

  2. We use an extension cords to plug in our cpap machines. I take duck/duct tape and apply it over the cord at the foot of the bed so that DH will not trip over it on the way to the bathroom or SIL will not trip over it on her way to the balcony.

  3. My party of 7 wants a land tour of Grand Cayman. Can you refer a person or company that you have used personally and would give a good rating to? We want to customize our tour and are not interested in snorkeling or other water activities

  4. John Heald just posted a comment this week asking that only magnets or tacky stuff be used for decorations because the tape doesn't always come off and the room stewards really don't need additional work added to their schedules. I admit that I used tape on our door on our last cruise, but I was very careful to completely remove it & the residue. In the future, I will only use the tacky stuff.

  5. Did you by any chance complain to guest service on the ship? That is the first step in problem resolution. If you don't have a record of your complaints with customer service made while you were on the ship, and you are complaining here, I don't look for you to have any luck resolving the problems now. Neither I nor any of my traveling companions have ever complained to guest services and not received satisfaction. I guess we have been lucky.

  6. Because the gratuity is included in the price of the drink, we don't tip extra UNLESS we like the wait person or the particular bartender. On our last cruise we never warmed to a bartender, but we had a bar waiter who was terrific. We tipped her often and well; when she saw us approaching she would hold up two fingers, we would nod and sit down. Very shortly she was serving us at our table.

  7. I'm on the Star next year. Landtour first then sailing on July 4th. I'll be interested to hear about your experience on the Star. I was on the Coral last year in Alaska and it was wonderful.

We too will be taking a land tour before boarding the Star for the Jul 4 2015 cruise. It's going to be very difficult to wait over one year for the great adventure.

  8. It is safe and regularly patrolled by the Gretna police. We used it June 29-July 4 and upon our return, the car was found in the same condition we left it. Now, do not expect the Ritz-Carlton. It is a dated place in need of some upgrades and TLC. But, for one night's stay it is just fine. The service is good, everyone is very nice, the hot breakfast is awesome, and the shuttle service is quick and efficient.

Our group of 7 will be staying at Quality Inn in Gretna on 08/17/13. We have 3 rooms booked at $144.22 for each room including taxes and for 7 days parking. This was the best pricing I found for room, cruise parking, and shuttle to & from port. Thanks for your info; it makes me feel better about the stay there.
