  1. My doctor told me tap water can have living organisms and chemicals in it. [emoji33] So, always use distilled to prevent well, you know-little critters in your mouth and nose.

  2. We were on the Equinox in late February and had zero problems. The head chef in the cafeteria walked me around every time I asked and pointed out gf choices. He also pointed out that the steak fries in the cafeteria are gf, while the steak fries at the pool bar are not. The head chef told me he was available 24/7 and really went out of his way to ensure I didn't get sick from cross contamination. There was a dedicated gf toaster with bread and muffins that were physically in a different breakfast station than the other toasters.

I did ask for fresh egg omelets as the egg mix can have gluten in it. One egg station attendant didn't get that, so I did need to ensure he wrote fresh egg on the omelet order.

I asked for a gf dessert one day and a short time later was presented with a plate of 4 kinds of dessert nibbles' each with their own flair and embellishments. My husbands' jaw dropped when he saw how happy the head chef was that I was appreciative of his efforts.

Pre ordered gf meals in the main dining room the night prior. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about what could be modified to gf.

Ate in the bistro on 5 one evening and the gf crepes are excellent!ll

The smoothies in the Aqua Spa Cafe list the ingredients and are noted as gf.

This.was by far the easiest cruise I have been on since being diagnosed 7 years ago with gf food that actually had taste. Except for the gf pizza-it really is not any good!

The only snag I hit was the molecular bar. The liquors used in the drinks I had never heard of and the bartender had no idea which were gf. So I passed - bummer.

  3. Well my son won't be able to board the Reflection with us tomorrow because American Airlines can't get him to MIA soon enough. However, they have agreed to fly him directly to San Juan so he can catch the ship when it is in port on Monday. I really hate that he is going to miss sailaway from Miami. Since this is his first cruise, he was so looking forward to it. I guess there are worse things than to have to be in San Juan for a couple days; but it will be costly for him.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Your son will have far more fun in sunny, WARM, San Juan than those of us in the DFW area this weekend. Lows in the teens tonight, and power outages from falling tree limbs. Our blood is suited to temp rages of 60-100F, not this stuff :)

San Juan is a cool place to be for a couple of days. Last sail out of SJ, we went in 2 days early, and had quite a bit of fun exploring San Juan.

Just remind him every Sailaway is beautiful.

Hope you all have a great time!!

  4. We are sailing on RCCI on Independence in Feb. Customer service had we fill out a form for food allergies and fax back. I was told I could bring any non perishable food onboard that I needed. They did not offer to store it for me, but I wouldn't take them up on that offer though. I am planning on taking gf crackers, salad dressings, nut mix, peanut butter so far. GF Beer/Cider would be fun- but probably wouldn't make it past security.

Has anyone bought gf beer/cider onboard RCCI?

I was told to talk to my dinner waiter in the dining rooms; the Manager of the cafeteria and special dining rooms. RCCI bakes GF bread daily, but it is not available in all venues.

I'm planning on making my waiter & maitre'd my new best friends so I'm not miserable for the trip.

I recently discovered some eggs you see scrambled on a buffet line or from the dining rooms are pre made mixes and have gluten in them. Can we not just crack an egg anymore??? I'll be ordering mine over med.

    Have a great cruise,

    Mchele
