  1. My question is ..what happens if we cant tender on an island? I read some where that they offer a small compensation for this, but I wasnt sure if that was true or not? Does the weather have to be REALLY bad? I checked the weather lookout for our cruise next week, and when we go to cayman islands, its supposed to be raining/storming..if its just raining will be most likely be able to go? How do we find out if our excursions are cancelled if we didnt book through carnival?

Believe me if the seas are bad you will not WANT to tender. I have been in a tender in bad seas and would have paid money to be back on the ship. The tender was bobbing up and down like a cork with waves washing over the top.

You are usually given your port fees back. Something like $10pp.

You won't know if you can tender or not until you are actually there.

  2. If anyone who is disabled needs that particular cabin, NCL can and does upgrade the folks who've reserved that needed room. It's a win-win as far as I can tell.

This statement is simply NOT TRUE. I am in a wheelchair fulltime. I wish I could just call NCL and move a able bodied person out of a handicapped cabins. Then I probablywould be able to cruise more often than I do. I have tried to do this and it is simply not true. I am told sorry not available. When I ask if the people booked in the HC cabin are disabled I am told there is no way of knowing and am told they assume they are since they are booked in a disabled room. Many times able bodied people book HC cabins for the extra space or an extended balcony.

So sorry but its not a win-win for the disabled person.

  3. I disagree with your last statement. If no HC cruisers need the room it would be absolutely idiotic for NCL to leave the room empty and forfeit the $10k plus in revenues it would generate.

Of course the cabin shouldn't be left empty. NCL is a business and needs to make money. However, it should be left open for a reasonable amount of time for a handicapped cruiser to book it. Especially since there is only one.

NCL says they don't let able bodied cruisers book a HC cabin until after Final Payment. Obviously, by evidence of this thread, NCL is not doing this.

After looking at the pictures I think the cabin looks lovely. Sure wish I could afford a cabin like that. ;)

  4. What I want to know is why are AB people booking handicapped cabins. They are for people in wheelchairs!!!!! If there is a problem with the room- Serves you right!

The thing is those of us in wheelchairs are just thankful to be able to cruise. We don't care about walls etc. We just need a cabin that has a big enough door way so we can enter and a larger bathroom with a seat. Please leave these cabins to people who need them.

Also, NCL is giving wrong info. AB people are not moved out of handicapped cabins if a handicapped person comes along. We are just told....Sorry, not available. Beleive me I've tried.

  5. We are booked on the Golden Princess this summer. I was originally in E517, but wanted to move closer to our kids who are upfront in an inside cabin E103. So we got moved up to E301 which is a wheelchair accessible room, as we were told it was more spacious and the same FF cat. room, obstructed view. When we got our final confirmation, under comments it said "wheelchair cabin, no view". When I called to ask, I was told it is an obstructed view room and they didn't know why "no view" was listed. Should I be concerned that I am paying for FF when it could basically be an inside?

I have stayed in this cabin as I am confined to a wheelchair. Not much of a view at all. I now hate the color orange as that is all I saw for 12 days. I wish Princess wouldnt give handicapped accessible cabins to people who don't need them. What happens if a person in a wheelchair wants to cruise?

I don't know how Princess decides on the categories on Emerald deck. Some of the category G cabins have better views than some category F's.
