  1. Do you have an additional information on this?

    [

Can anyone provide some details about Mobile/Port of Alabama?

Easy to drive to. Not far off of the interstate and well marked directions.

Just curious as to what to expect...is it comparable to Miami, Canaveral, Jaxville, Charleston, Tampa?

I think it is one of the easiest to get in and out of. I have sailed out of

Canaveral, Jacksonville and Tampa. I like Mobile because the parking deck is right next to the terminal. We dropped off our bags and then parked our car and walked directly over to the terminal. No crossing the street or long walk.

It is easy to get to, what about parking on site and off site, terminal, etc.

I have never parked off site but the terminal seemed like a great, secure option.

We usually drive in the day before and stay at one of the nearby hotels. My favorite are the Renaissance Riverview Hotel and the Hampton Inn. Both are very close to the cruise terminal. We have done one of the hotel packages where you leave your car at the hotel and a limo takes you to the terminal on embark day and picks you up after the cruise is over.

Several things to see in Mobile. The Battleship Mobile, Bellingrath Gardens, a couple of museums and not far from the beaches.

Here is a link about Mobile's hotels, and other attractions.

    Hope you enjoy Mobile.

  2. We are staying here http://www.seaclubresort.com/ next month. I think it matches all your criteria except free shuttle to/from airport. We are renting a car through Alamo for about $20 for the night and this place has free parking.

AS we have booked this hotel also but not until Oct 2015. So if it is bad please let me know right away so I can cancel and get us another place to stay!

    Thanks~!

  3. Does Comfort Suites still give wrist bands? Will they still be doing it in October? We will be there from 8 am to 5 pm. We have been to Nassau a few times but never to the Atlantis waterpark. We wanted to try something different.

  4. I don't have pictures, but have been on all the beaches at Atlantis over the years. The beach they let you on with the day pass is the "Atlantis Beach", which is the main beach on property. It is not far from eating/drinking/bathrooms so no need to worry about that. It is very well kept up and I think it is a beautiful area no matter what. Is it the absolute best beach? Probably not, but I still think it would be great for you. When we were there a couple years ago, we went onto Cove Beach and nobody said anything, not sure if the guards will be checking wristband colors now or not.

I think the $80pp that you can get this for directly at the Atlantis Coral Towers Discovery Atlantis desk is a good value. You get admission to the Dig/Aquariums, Beach and lunch. (no pools or water rides)

We're planning on doing this when we are there as well in 2 weeks!

Do you know how much it would be to access the water rides too?

  5. Okay so we have been to Nassau a few times and took a taxi to Atlantis once. There are 5 adults and 3 children 14,11, and 7. I have heard the 14 year old is counted as an adult. Is this true?

What is the least expensive way to see it including the water slides, aquarium, and dig?

I am thinking of getting two rooms at the Comfort Suites and doing it that way???

We also love local food and have had many conch fritters. Would love to do Fish Fry....so can you leave Atlantis eat..then come back...or is there enough time for that? We will be in port from 7 am to 5 pm.

  6. I don't believe Izumi has both a cover and a la carte charges. I think at one point they had both, but then switched to just a la carte.

Our our cruise on the Radiance last June, it was a la carte. And our upcoming Oasis cruise shows Izumi as $0 when going to make a reservation. I think it would be the same for the Serenade.

That is incorrect just got off the ship on 1/10/15 and there was a $5 cover charge then a la carte pricing. (don't know if the cover gets applied to your bill or not).

  7. I just asked my neighbor who has travel there twice by train and she stated as soon as you exit there are taxis waiting...no call needed and about $15 should get you to the hotel.:p

We are also arriving by Amtrak to sail on the Serenade, but our cruise is February 21st, 2015. I believe that a taxi might be your only form of transportation. The street car line doesn't appear to be near the train station. I don't know the cost, but a taxi is our plan. I've been trying to figure out if taxis will be available at the train station or if we'll have to call for one. Looking at a map, Canal Street appears to be about 12 blocks north of Union Station, so guessing it's a 10 minute ride. Also here's a link to get a free copy of the New Orleans Visitor's Guide 2015. http://www.neworleanscvb.com/visit/request-vg/
  8. We are arriving by train into New Orleans. Our hotel is on Canal Street. What is the best way and the cost to get from the station to the hotel?

Should we take a streetcar or taxi...or any other ideas? Two adults traveling.

    Thanks.

  9. I think they're new (maybe a year old now) I had exceptional dealings with them, so much so I've already booked again for Melia day passes in a few weeks!! There are times the resort reaches it's capacity for the day passes and booking with ****************.com pretty much guarantees your money back.

Can you email me at melliott74@gmail.com.....the company you used?

  10. For our trip next week....going to DRF and Blue Hole then lunch at Scotchies if time allows....hope everyone is right about how great he is!

Our family of 5 had a blast. My children 21, 18, and 13 helped all of the other members in our group to climb Dunns River Falls without a guide. Some people did the river tubing and they enjoyed it.

  11. Let me say first I hate taking Carnival's tours....why you ask? Because I like to use local people and for them to receive ALL the money I pay them.

That being said, I am looking for a local company (Grand Bahama Nature Tours has an exclusive agreement with Carnival). Is there anyone else? or anything else adventurous to do?

We have done these excursions in past trips....Sting Rays, Jet Skis, Dune Buggies, Segways, Blue Hole in Jamacia, and Dunns River Falls....all of which were done with locals and had great experiences.

We tried the People to People but they can not accommodate a group of six. We wanted to bring school supplies and maybe visit a school and orphanage. We want to also try some authentic dishes.

We are going in May and desperate to arrange something. Thanks for any input....

    Maria
