  1. We will be sailing on the Odyssey of the Seas in October 2023 on a Holy Land cruise with stops in Haifa & Ashdod. There has been some reported violence recently in Israel and I’m looking for a resource to find out if current cruises are having to cancel the Israel port of calls because of it. I understand it is common for parts of Israel to have outbreaks of violence but I am uncertain how this is effecting cruise ships.

  2. I am also on the 12/4 Sky Princess sailing. We had boarding group A which states an arrival time at the port between 11:30-12:00. We arrived about 10:45 and were able to board immediately. No lines. They checked our Medallions, passports, vaccine status and COVID test results. Super easy and an excellent way to start a vacation.

  3. Curious if this is true or fake news? If true, it makes me feel at ease while patiently awaiting my cruise refund from a Princess cancelled cruise.

What if the cruise company declares bankruptcy?

If your cruise line declares bankruptcy and the ship is departing from a US port, you'll be covered, says lawyer Christopher Kende.
"There's a requirement under the Federal Maritime Commission that cruise lines put up a bond to secure what's called unearned passenger revenues," says Kende, a specialist in maritime law at the firm Cozen O'Connor.
Even if the company is registered outside of the United States, or the ship is flagged in another country, Kende says your booking will be covered in case of bankruptcy or another disruption.
If you're sailing from an international port, Kende notes that passengers could be more exposed to risk. "If it's not a US-based cruise, it would probably depend on the law of the departure point of the cruise or the flag of the vessel," he explains.
Travel insurance may help, too. According to AIG's Scott Adamski, some travel insurance includes financial default coverage that would protect your money in case of a bankruptcy declaration. (As with other insurance matters, he noted that individual plans vary widely.)
  4. We were on the Regal Princess Christmas cruise from 19-29 December. We completed our Future Cruise Certificate form while on board and deposited it in the mail slot at the Future Cruise desk. Now, more than two weeks later, we still have not received confirmation. After reading the threads on this board, it appears this is par for the course. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise but are certainly disappointed that Princess doesn't prioritize confirming receipt of our FCC forms.

  5. Carnival's policy about bringing soda onboard the ship states that you are limited to a 12 pack of cans per person. Does anyone know if the 12 pack of soda can be brought onboard at one of the port stops or is the policy strictly allowing soda to be brought on the ship during embarkation?

  6. We just got back from our 19 June Alaskan cruise onboard the Ruby Princess. We stayed in Seattle at the Hampton Inn on 28th Ave near the airport both pre and post cruise. I would highly recommend this hotel. They offer a courtesy airport shuttle (10 minute ride) as well as a courtesy shuttle to the light rail (5 minute ride). The light rail cost $6.00 RT to get to Pike's Marketplace downtown which is about a 40 minute commute. Once downtown, you can catch the Monorail to the Space Needle for another $4.50 RT. The Hampton Inn is clean and the employees are very friendly.
