Oh wow. That would be nice. I'll have to check into it.

What would we do with our luggage if we took an excursion though?
-
Ok. That makes sense. Thanks for the suggestions. I never thought of a shore excursion after I get off the ship. My flying experiences are very limited usually from Bwi to Mco for Disney trips.

Just a decent clean place to sleep. Nothing fancy. A shuttle to the port would be nice but we can catch a cab.

Hi Our ship is docking at Port Everglades at 7:00 am. Is it doable to be able to make a 10:30 am flight at FLL? We would self disembark and probably a taxi to FLL. Don't really want to hang out at FLL for hours till the next mid afternoon flight. Thanks!

We are flying into FLL and need a hotel for 1 night before our cruise in October. I've never cruised from Ft Lauderdale and know nothing of it at this point. Any suggestions on hotel, airport transfer to hotel, transfer to cruise port etc and things to do for a day would be greatly appreciated!

I've been on Explorer several times and can't remember seeing a coffee for purchase type venue. Is there one? The last couple ships I was on had one and I really enjoyed a "good" cup of coffee in the morning.

Are you llooking for a hotel as well? Tell us your cruise date, number of people, budget and any other considerations and we'll describe the options available to you. There are a number of choices out there that we don't recommend - Newark is a highly urban area and you must be selective about where you stay and/or leave your car.
Thanks 138East, I think we'll just park at the port. No, we are not needing a hotel as we are driving over from Pennsylvania. Only a 3 hour drive. I never thought of looking for options for port parking before this cruise as I didn't realize there were any. The more I think about the hassle of finding a parking option then waiting for a shuttle both on embarkation and disembarkation, its not worth the hassle to save a few bucks.

Whether coming by personal vehicle or private car/shuttle service, the roads leading into the pier can get crowded around 12:00 until embarkation. We parked near EWR, and took a shuttle to the pier around 9:30-10:00, and traffic was starting to back up when we arrive at the port. We had a bit of a wait to get onboard, but the traffic was horrendous looking out from Windjammers at those just arriving.
Could you provide more details for this please? Was it airport parking? Was the shuttle free? Does it take you right to the port? What is the name of the parking area? TIA!

Tried a search and nothing ... Booked a Promenade for the first time, mid ship deck 7. Anyone have some good pics? Would deck 8 be better?
I tried to post a link for you to actual photos of a promenade room on the eighth floor, but the link isn't allowed. If you go to cruiselineroomsdotcom and click on room 8255 you can see the photos. I stayed on the seventh in a promenade last time and loved it. They are all the same size and appearance.
I was across from the little cafe and could sit in the window seat and watch all the goings on on the promenade on sea days when I was bored. :mad:I really dislike sea days.

Does anyone know if "the quest" is age rated? I've been to several myself but am wondering if children under 10 are allowed to attend?

Who is the current cruise director on EOS? Last time I went it was this cute young Australian guy name Goodday Dave. I know he moved on though.
Suggestions on hotel in Ft Lauderdale

This is getting very confusing. The Hyatt Place is not available for my dates, HIA is 229 which seems rediculous for a Holiday Inn. Has anyone ever booked on Hot wire doing a secret hotel which won't be revealed till after purchase? Sounds a little scary to me but the prices are certainly better.
