  1. This was a FANTASTIC review! I have sailed with Amy before, and I have to say that her DH is more teddy bear than Viking ;p such a lovely family!!

I hope to cross paths soon!

    Dude...

The best review I've ever read - being a fellow Havenite, I 110% agree with your assessment of your fellow travelers. Actually - it's quite the microcosm. I love the priority seating / tendering and the exquisite service - and the predictability of excellence on every trip. I'm there to relax with the family - and honestly, have had the pleasure of trips with really well behaved children.

As the loving wife of a husband who looks like a viking, it is fun to have some of the stuffier Haven residents eyeball us when we walk in and out - yup...my money is as good as yours!

Thanks again for making our night - hope to see you in the future on the fabulous upp deck!

    Amy

  2. OMG please take care of yourself! This is fun and all, but please make sure you enjoy your vacation and rest up!

Thanks! I have been severely slacking today as my back once again likes to remind who's boss. This is two trips in a row it has acted up on me.

I am sorry but until it hopefully loosens up my activities will be limited thus not a very exciting report to share. Hopefully tomorrow, we can get off to tour the dockyard area.

Today has been hanging in the cabin watching several movies.

    Sorry once again.

  3. here are a few differences that I have seen in the Haven that I have done in both the breakaway class and the Jewel class (NCL Gem/Jewel): I'd be interested to know if anyone else has any other observations, and whether they prefer one ship over the other.

    Haven size:

Jewel Class: the Haven area is more intimate; much smaller and fewer guests.

Breakaway class: the BW had a lot of Haven guests -- the great part was that everything was organized, I never felt "lost" and always had access to the butler/concierge

    Haven Restaurants:

Jewel Class: Cagneys for breakfast/lunch, of course (unless we ate in the Haven pool area). Did main dining rooms as much as we could since the food wasn't that bad to us.

Breakaway Class: Love the Haven Restaurant! Basically the same breakfast/lunch menu as Cagneys, but the dinner menu was great to us! We never really had to wait to be seated, dinner portions were great and the service was too.

    Theater seating:

Jewel Class: Private area in the balcony.

Breakaway class: Not crazy about the private area. We didn't see any shows because DH is a cruise snob and missed his Jewel class theatre seating :D

Anyone else have any other differences/likes/dislikes?

  4. We were on the NCL Breakaway on the May 11th cruise (review/pics coming soon). I know that ppl have asked about the design of the 15th floor and if it is closed off/separate from the spa/fitness area. Yes it is closed off. I did notice that the Haven door leading to the 15th deck does not lock at times, however I never noticed anyone walking through it randomly.

We stayed in 15104. Will be doing the same cruise again!

  5. After receiving all wrong certs. and letters last month ,

yesterday received everything in its correct count and order.. All is well with the world..

Good luck to those that are still waiting :)

Great! I'm all set too! we received one $500 certificate!

  6. I'm assuming you meant you would be receiving a $500 off certificate? If that's the case ... WOW!

We were just below $500 at the end of December and I've been kicking myself for not making sure we were over the $500.

    Good for you!!

ONE MORE THING: I personally think BoA/NCL should give their partial points in exact money off a cruise. They could make stipulations ... like not to be used with other discounts ... or whatever. But' date=' at least we'd get [i']something[/i] for our loyalty. Just a thought.

Yes -- $500 off certificate is what I meant! :) I was so excited to type it! LOL

We were at 427 before our closing date (Dec 15), and earned 40 points by the end of Dec 31st; that's what brought us to 467.

  7. A big thank you to Sea Hound and jmeriano for your work on this issue and your updates. It's just this kind of effort and help that make the boards such a great resource for all of us. :)

I think SeaHound did most of the legwork, keeping you guys informed. I didn't want to duplicate efforts so I kept quiet most of the time. I'm so glad that everyone has shared their experiences!

  8. I have 2 questions.

    (1) Are there still some who have received nothing to date? Because I'm in that boat. (er, ship)

    (2) For my wife, who has received the wrong certs...does she need to make any calls...or just sit tight? In other words, are the above 6000 ones who have complained?

    Thanks

I think others may have a better answer, but mine is that they recognized this based on those who contacted them (myself, SeaHound, calls to their customer service center, NCL), not the full ~6,000 customers (which I'm assuming are all the people that were under the Compass Rewards Program). I would say sit tight and see what you get in the mail within the next 7 - 10 days.

  9. I, too, just got off the phone with the BoA Chairman's Office. Here's what the very nice lady told me:

    1. BoA is having to manually compute points rewards for over 6,000 accounts.

    2. They just had a conference call about the issue this morning and everyone is on the same page.

    3. I'll soon receive a letter outlining the problem and the steps being taken to correct it.

    4. ALL my correct certs will be mailed this Friday and should arrive in 7-10 days.

    5. THIS IS NEW: The certs I previously received (three $100 certs) will be voided and the mailing I receive will contain ALL certs I'm due for the total points.

    Sea Hound:D

Thanks for your update. I guess the best part of all this is that there is FINALLY a silver lining on this dark cloud. Do you know of anyone that has actually used the 100 upgrades? I usually book minisuites.

  10. I mailed in a letter to BOA on Friday and got a call back yesterday. The young woman I spoke to was so nice :). She said a system error hit a population of customers causing a miscalculation in points :(. They have found the error and are mailing out new certificates to these customers this week. She said, they are going out automatically this week. She wasn't sure why BOA customer service isn't telling people about the error when they call. You might want to wait and see if you get the right stuff in the mail later this week or next week before contacting them.

We must have been posting at the same time! :) she was extremely nice and I will wait patiently for my certs. What an experience. They also said they read these boards and they were very shocked initially.
