  1. Crystal Palace is also in Nassau. I have never been there personally, but on other websites, it states, its smaller and some like it better than Atlantis, some don't.....

Bah Mahr, was suppose to be open by now. It's soft opening is supposedly 4/21/2017, but it is very delayed and most of locals will believe it when it's actually happened. That has been a huge mess for Nassau because they tore down several other resorts to build it and being so delayed in opening, it's not bringing in any money vs the resorts that they tore down.

  2. Just wanted to add they sometimes have a character stop by & its good way to have a picture taken w/o having to wait in line. It was our last cruise 10/2015 they had a character, I think it was Minnie, but not sure, it was myself and a girlfriend cruising, so we didn't take pic. I'm not sure if on our upcoming cruise we will attend....but if we do I will post what went on, we cruise 2/23.

  3. I understand, we have several in our party that are not getting off boat.

Nassau is ok, my all time favorite activity was Powerboat Adventures, they take you south on a very fast boat, we went to lizard island and fed lizards grapes on sticks then to another set of islands where we got to touch stingrays and watch them chum the water to feed the sharks. We then snorkeled in same water with sharks, that was very cool. I have not seen it offered on cruise excursions but having already taken the tour, I haven't been looking for it, we were staying at Atlantis when we did the tour. If my husband wasn't a gambler we probably would not be getting off boat but he wants to hit casino and another family member wants to buy some Cuban cigars.

  4. I had a similar experience with my son when he was younger. It worked:)

Hopefully, we wont have to go to that level but I would have no issue calling out any niece or nephew that misbehaves. Especially in a public situation like a dining room. In private, I might ignore it and let the parents handle it, but not where they are being a public nuisance.

  5. That doesn't surprise me, parents too oblivious or don't care that they are disrupting others' dinner. I want to sit at kids table...they are fun...if not, the children will be well behaved or they will be escorted out of dining room.

  6. We did something similar to what you asking. We got off boat and hired guide, right at port. We had four in our party. We were in a van, so they could accommodate more people if necessary. Marcus took us to the Fort, Victoria's staircase, a cave w/bats that also had the Junkaroo costumes we could dress up in and hear history(for a small tip) he showed us where the new casino was being built ( huge uproar over that one as its still not completed) and this was 2013. The soccer stadium the Chinese built, and took us to where some the locals live. He showed us the water pumps, for the communities, cause not everyone has running water in home. He was a wealth of information and a local so he could answer all our questions.

We then stopped at fish Fry and had lunch, which was excellent. He left the tour up to us, asked what we were interested in and then showed us. I cant remember what we paid for the couple of hours he was with us, but it was not too much. He dropped us off back at port but I'm sure it would be no problem to drop off by Cable beach.

I still have his contact information, email address, he was on Viber so you could call him. I would be happy to share as he was great...I'm just not sure if that's allowed...may have to be thru direct/private message..

  7. We are cruising on Wonder 2/23..there will be 16 in our party(in laws 50th Anniv) we were told they will sit us at 2 different tables, right next to each other. We are linked together in the reservation system. I am hoping we split up into children(youngest is 8...oldest 20 of grandkids) table and adult table. I want to sit with the children cause they will be funny and wont mention politics.

And if' date=' like me, you wanted to find a loophole and go over to Atlantis' casino during the Nassau port stop, theirs are only open in the evenings, and mostly to passholders and guests, except for the slots. Either way, it's a no-win.[/quote]

I have been to Nassau several times cruising and have stayed at Atlantis several times and your comment got my attention. We will be in Nassau in Feb for a cruise and planned on going to casino. Here's my research.

    From Atlantis Site:Main Casino Floor

    Slots 24hrs 12/27-1/2/17

    Tables Sunday - Thursday 9am to 4am and Friday & Saturday 24hrs

My husband is a gambler and he has won big at Atlantis and I immediately took him to Coin of Realm, local jewelry store:) I am hoping to repeat the experience:)

  9. charterman...Thank you for asking the question. We have a similar situation. My in-laws 50th Anniversary is next year and we decided as a family to go on a cruise and we chose Disney for two reasons, we are DVC members, and booked our in laws the cruise as a present and and some have young children.

My BIL & SIL have never cruised and they booked Concierge. None of us felt excluded, we have already come to the realization that we will not be doing all activities together and that's ok, most live in different states and its been years since the whole family was in one place, so just to see them at dinner and some other places will be a treat. We are 16 total in 6 different cabins. All different price levels.

My BIL did request a cabana on family beach and one on adult beach. I am hoping they honor the request because of the wide age range of our group. I didn't know until mokismommy stated it didn't matter if they haven't PIF they cant confirm booking....I will not be asking my BIL, if they are PIF, we just wont have cabana.

I hope this gives you peace of mind, as I am family member not in Concierge and do not look at the ones that did as jerks:)

  10. I homeschooled my son until 9th grade. We actually did 2 cruises with a homeschool mom who was also a cruise specialist w/carnival. I think we had 200 homeschool families on board.

He learned more on those cruises than I could have ever taught him. Panama Canal, engineering, Mexico, we studied the Mayans, Costa Rica, the rainforest, etc...

I recently took him out for a week and a half for a trip to New Zealand. It was right at exam time and we talked with his teachers and agreed if he had high enough average, he would be exempted from exams. It defintely gave him a reason to keep that high average!

I would do it! I truly believe the experiences they have with family and places is just as important as bricks & mortar schooling.

  11. I received our hosts name on 1/28. Until reading Three Rings post above, I would have never thought to research our hosts name. If I'm correct our host is a police officer.

We will not be in port until 2/15 so I am waiting until closer to the time to contact and make arrangements for our meeting.

I really hopes it all works out and I will post an update.
