  1. Vickie, Bernie and Dennis: My husband and I have just returned from our Alaska cruise and cruisetour. Wow! Absolutely breathtaking. Anyway, I wanted to say a special thank you to you guys for helping in our planning process with all your answers to our questions. Thank you very much!!!:D

We loved all of the places we visited and consider ourselves very fortunate to have been able to visit Alaska and Canada.

  2. I also wanted to thank all of you Vancouverites for taking the time to answer all of our questions. Very kind indeed!:D Most of my questions have been answered by reading this thread for the last nine months. I would like help in fine tuning. We will be staying at the Blue Horizon on Robson Street the night before our cruise leaves. We want to check-in or leave our bags at the hotel when we arrive and then go over to Stanley Park. Since there is a free shuttle within the Park, I was wondering if we could walk to Stanley Park (We are in shape and in our 40's)? The Trolley is $35 each ($70 total) so I'm also wanting to know if the cab fare would be alot cheaper?

We also want to take the Trolley tour to Grouse Mountain and the tramway up the mountain for the sunset. Should I make reservations now? Or wait until we get to Vancouver? We will be in your city in ten days. Can't wait!:D

    Thank you, again!

  3. The Century Plaza, the Blue Horizon, Holiday Inn on Howe and Pacific Palisades will put you within blocks of Joe Fortes and the shops on Robson St and Pacific Centre with the Blue Horizon and Pacific Palisades being right on Robson. On Priceline and Hotels.com you should be able get a room for under $200 however the Pacific P. may be a bit more particularly as we move into July. The Silvia Hotel is an old, but meticulously maintained, family operated, landmark hotel on English Bay and a superb location for Stanley Park but will be a bit of a hike to the heart of the shopping centre on Robson St.

  5. Another one would be Joe Fortes and it is only a few blocks from your hotel

Here's a link to their web site:

BINGO! This restaurant looks wonderful! So I'll come at this a different way. We are coming into Vancouver on 7-17 at 11 a.m. Staying for the evening and leaving next day on our cruise. We like a lot of the hotels mentioned above in this thread. Which hotels would be near Joe Fortes Restaurant and the other great shops, restaurants and pubs mentioned above? I like the Century Plaza Hotel, but I'm not sure where that is in relationship to the restaurant and other things. I think we may want to go to the Park, too. You all are great! Thank you for doing this.

  6. Our pre-cruise accommodations are at the Centry Plaza on Burrard. Is this location a do-able walk to Stanley park and the aquarium?? or would it be very difficult to grab the bus .....

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate that you've taken the time to help us who are looking forward to visiting your beautiful city......

I think there is a comedian performing at the Century Plaza, too.
