  1. I just got off the Splendor. There isn't a Guys burger place on this ship yet. There is a steakhouse which has a $35 surcharge per person but it is very well worth it.

Current CD is Kevin Donahoe. I don't think he'll be there in June though. I'm pretty sure he said he only had a few cruises left.

Yes you will most definitely stay busy on the sea days!

Food...that's an individual opinion. I thought the food was delicious but I've seen plenty of reviews where people said the quality has decreased a ton. I really enjoyed the shows.

  2. I'd definitely recommend flying in the day before. Old San Juan is a beautiful place to visit! You'll enjoy the extra time there. When we cruised out of San Juan, we stayed at a hostel near the port. It's called Posada San Francisco (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147320-d1902834-Reviews-Posada_San_Francisco_Old_San_Juan-San_Juan_Puerto_Rico.html). We LOVED it. It was 50-60 dollars a night. We had to walk to get breakfast but the stay was very homey. They do have a kitchenette if you want to bring your own food. We took a taxi from the airport to the hostel. The one downfall was the hostel wasn't well marked. I recognized the building from the pictures on trip advisor.

  3. Yes, the airport beach is called Maho Beach. Google for some neat pictures and videos! It's SO much fun. There is a bar at one end, and your friend could hang out in there. I didn't think it was too loud, just very strong winds to be mindful of. Gotta hold on to lightweight items, otherwise they'll fly away.

  4. Is there a cost to order? We will have an 18th birthday on our trip.

The 6 inch cake costs 10 dollars and is well worth it.

I agree! It is very well worth it! I thought it was quite a bit of cake for only 10 dollars. We shared with our table (4 people total) and still had leftovers for a few days. It's super delicious too!

  5. We are 99% sure we are going to book a very last minute cruise for this upcoming Sunday. I cannot find my birth certificate. I have my passport in my maiden name, and marriage certificate. I also have an enhanced license. Are these documents okay or should we not book? Thanks!

I don't know much about enhanced licenses as my state doesn't offer them. But you could always book in your maiden name (to match your passport)

  6. You also can check it out by looking at your subscribed threads. Click Quick Links, then click Subscribed Threads and it'll bring up a list of all the threads that you subscribed to (which is probably each thread you've made a comment in)

  7. Yes it is noisy on low aft decks. Thrusters, engines and vibrations. Sometimes it is not just getting into and out of ports. If there is wave action the stabilizers get used too.

Yes, it was a vibration "noise" more than anything that I noticed. Hard to describe, but you could tell things were shaking. I didn't feel anything per se, but it sounded like things were vibrating near by.

  8. We were in an aft room on riveria (I think), it was the first floor. It was noisy in the AM. We were in a new port each morning on our Southern Caribbean cruise, so I'm guessing each time we pulled into port, we heard the engines. DH slept through it, but it woke me up. Honestly, it wasn't that bad though. If you booked Early Saver, it'll cost you (I think!) $50 per person to switch rooms.

  9. Oh, that's PLENTY of time. Norfolk is my home port. I live about 15 min from there. I would even do an 11AM one.

Perfect! I'm just a worry wort when it comes to flights same day. Last cruise we spent an extra day in San Juan before flying home.

Btw, we're on the same cruise :D I recognize your user name from our roll call :p
