  1. That would be against Royal's rules. They would take the wine from you and return it at the end of the cruise. Only wine brought on at initial embarkation is allowed to be brought to your stateroom.

    Thanks Clarea...good to know.

  2. That's a great ship and a great way to spend NYE, and he must be very excited!

I'm biased toward Sapphire (I guess that's obvious!) and there may very well be other kids his age there, either from the ship or staying in a condo. Many families rent there over the holidays so there's a good chance of other kids there.

But I might also consider Coki because there are usually more families there from the ship. It will be more crowded because it is such a small bay, and there are several vendors there. Just a livelier vibe than Sapphire. But Coki is also a gorgeous beach so whichever you choose you will find very nice.

Magens is our least favorite beach, not because it isn't beautiful but because it does get crowded and just doesn't have the "character" the East End beaches have in our opinion. But because it attracts so many you will find other kids there too.

Unless you would want to take the time to go to St John and Trunk Bay? The ferry ride (or other excursion) would be an ecperience and Trunk is generally a busy beach too. You probably know that Sapphire and Coki are a 20 - 30 min taxi from the port, and the ferry from Red Hook (near Sapphire) and taxi to Trunk would add another 1.5 - 2 hrs to your travel time.

But after all that I would choose Coki, and Sapphire is a short taxi ride away if you want to experience both.

    Have a great cruise! :)

    Hi Blue Water

We will be in St Thomas Dec 9th on the Adventure of the Seas. We are hoping to spend some time at a nice beach. Any idea the cost from the cruise port to Sapphire beach? It sounds like the perfect spot.

  3. Hi Arubalisa

Is Palm beach better than Eagle beach for walking, swimming and just enjoying the sand? We are not interested in snorkeling just enjoying a dip and walking.

Someone mentioned Baby beach..is that worth considering?

Thanks..you have provided us with so much great info

  4. Hi Arubalisa

Thanks so much for all the great info ...we love to walk on the beach and thought Eagle beach would be best. Do you agree? I was wondering what we could do with our beach bag...are there any lockers available along this beach?

We plan to take a taxi, can I assume there are plenty of taxi's around for our return to the cruise port?

  5. Sharon..question about FLL terminals. I am a bit worried about disembarking and getting to the airport for a 10:35am flight. It looks like there are 19,000 passengers or 6 ships in port that day. Do they all go through the same terminal and customs? If we do self diembarkation should we be okay?

  6. I thought the FLL Hyatt Place North was probably the most convenient hotel to port location that we have ever used for the 1 night pre-cruise. The shopping center mentioned in a previous post has everything you would need and right next door is an Outback, if you are a fan of that chain.

When we stayed there last year (in the fall I think), they were renovating several locations on the main floor and I think the rooms on a few others. The room was large and clean, we had no problems at all.

Shuttle from airport was prompt. The port shuttle was no longer free to Hyatt Gold Passport members, but we persuaded the mgr to include it in our stay since we were using points to stay anyway.

Next trip to FLL we will definitely stay there again.

    jw:cool:

Could anyone tell me if we can walk to the port from the Hyatt Place North?
