  1. I meant shouldn't be a difficult question for Viking. I used the suggested email address and actually got a phone call from Kayson at Viking. He said Mah Jongg is a usual activity that they offer but he couldn't guarantee that a set might not be damaged or missing some pieces. I would hope that people playing with the sets would be careful with them but things do happen. There is probably room in my suitcase to take my set but it weighs about 6 lbs. So I'll just hope there are sets onboard. Going forward I will address all my questions through that email address and not via the chat function. Thanks

  2. I have been trying for months to get an answer. Did a chat with them and the agent said she would check and order them if necessary. Did another chat a few weeks ago and was told "you won't know until you get onboard" He also said I could bring my own set! Those answers were not what I expected from Viking. My travel agent asked and was also given the same wishy washy answer. That's why I posted here. Thought someone might know. Sets were always available on the other ships I've been on. It's not a difficult question.

They are very poorly signed inside the terminal, but there are shuttle buses between the terminals so you don't have to go through security again.

Connecting Flights - EWR - Newark Liberty Airports (newarkairport.com)

We flew United on July 30th and the buses were not operating. Had to take air train and go through security again. Very poor signage trying to find the Lufthansa check in counter.

  4. I was on the Viking Sea for the Malta cruise and found the information on the app and TV to be accurate. As a matter of fact the app has a lot of good information that I did not discover until the last day. For example you can see the menus for the Restaurant for the whole cruise. Not sure about the World Cafe.

On the Santiago to Buenos Aires cruise Dec. 21 cruise. I’m also finding packing challenging with warm to cold weather variations. My strategy is layers for the cooler climates. Packing Gortex rain jacket with hood that I can layer with a long down vest that can compact nicely. Taking Cuddl Duds “long underwear” which again take up very little room in my suitcase. We are on a tour to the penguins and understand it can be messy with mud and penguin poop. Bought on line rubber type goulashes that will fit over my shoes. Hope they work as promised. Along with some gloves, a scarf, and hat, I should be warm enough without taking up too much room in my suitcase for the colder weather.

I am also on the Dec 21 cruise and in a quandary about packing. Where did you get those galoshes? Thanks

  6. My husband and I have done 4 transatlantics between October 2017 and April 2019. The first three (two on Reflection and one on Silhouette) had three Beyond the Podium Speakers and we enjoyed them all (some more than others). On our most recent Reflection this April there were only two. One was a repeat from October 2018 and the other one we weren't that interested in the topic (although we went to a few of her talks and she was a good speaker). So disappointed that our mornings which were usually busy with talks left lots of time to try to find something to do. We are taking a break from Celebrity, especially the Reflection (6 cruises is enough) until 2021 Australia and New Zealand on the Solstice. Hopefully they will have some new production shows.

  7. I have used Civitavecchia Shuttle Express 3 times; in 2017 from airport to Rome hotel, from hotel to port and in 2018 from airport to port. They are very professional with nice vehicles.  Each time we were sent an email with name and photo of driver and the drivers were waiting at airport with signs with our names.

  8. I don’t know whether you have looked, but 7 nights in a basic infinite balcony on Edge in Europe in the summer I saw running at $3800 plus taxes (all pp rates quoted). An Icon Suite is only $28,000pp plus taxes. So, comparing it to the above, 10 nights in the Yacht Club is a steal ;p. 7 nights on Infinity in a Concierge cabin is $2500pp plus taxes :o - again, the prices are :loudcry: (eye watering) or in our case: not worth it!

$28K per person for a suite???

  9. Thank - you for your reply. We had a great experience with DV in Athens in October 2016. We went sightseeing, visited the Acropolis Museum and had a wonderful lunch. We had two group leaders and we were split into two groups. Very enjoyable day for us.

My travel agent just told me about the DV tour in Athens for our October cruise. I've already spent a month arranging a private tour to 10 people. Not sure if I should take the free one since the TA won't know the details until a few weeks before sail date. Could you send details of your excursion to me at sheila.mandl@gmail.com?

We had a DV tour in Ibiza last year which wasn't that great but I think it was due to time of year (October).

    Thanks

  10. I've done Celebrity eastbound TA's the last couple years and they changed the clocks at 2pm, so we jumped from 1 to 3pm. It did make dinner come around quickly. Was told it was done that way to benefit the crew and their shifts.

Just did Silhouette TA and time change was 2AM. Same on Reflection westbound TA October 2017
